  1. Where's the challenge in that? If numbers are all you're after, take up golf.
  2. That cache wasn't archived. It was disabled. It's not unheard of for a new cache that has lots of DNFs to need some maintenance from the cache owner. Perhaps the coords are bad. Perhaps it is no longer there. All the cache owner has to do is ceck up on it and make sure that the cache page info is good. The cache owner (or spouse) DID check on it and stated that it was still in place. Great. Let's see what happens. Lets see. They checked it TODAY. but they must be lying. Right? Let's just archive it. I must add, the only thing you said that makes me wonder is: "Perhaps the coords are bad." Hmmm.... Five start cache approved: 25 NOV 09. 21 DNFs total. 28 NOV 09: COs wrote in log that cache had been checked, was still in place, and was not a hoax. FIVE POSTS LATER reviewer disabled cache, requesting that it be repaired or replaced. COs have 2500+ finds and >30 hides. Is this the new caching reality? Let's see, I think I can find a few dozen film cannisters around here.....

  4. The people with the facts aren't talking. The people talking don't have the facts. So this "Inference Fest" goes on and on and on......
  5. Not sure, but Brevard County alone has nearly 1,000 active caches.
  6. Do you mean? morally, ethic'lly Spiritually, physically Positively, absolutely Undeniably and reliably Dead. Thank you, I couldn't quite remember the lines. This thread is DPM, anyway!
  7. • SF/TDE is no longer posting • TPTB are obviously not going to comment • The cache no longer exists (if it ever did) • No one has been convinced to change their opinion that I’ve been able to tell • The discussions (arguments?) have been going in circles since about page twelve (if not before) • Godwin’s Law has been flirted with in several posts I think that I can say with some certainty that this equine is not merely dead; it’s totally and severely dead. It’s time to move on to some other nonsense. Thanks for the entertainment.
  8. A Wherigo cache might be a solution. There are a lot of folks who may not be equipped to find one, though.
  9. "Rabbit Hole" caches? Sounds like a terrible idea to me!
  10. Because they aren't geocaches. Exactly. They are benchmarks. Why would anyone think a benchmark should count as a geocache find? They aren't counted because they aren't geocaches. Is there an echo in here?? Gee. Wish I'd said that!
  11. Sounds like a good ticket item for a fall Woodbadge class participant.
  12. You could start by using the Advanced Search on the GC home page and using "Cache for Eagle" as the keyword. Look at the Get in the Game website and click on the "Cache for Eagle" link about halfway down the page. Or try GeoScouting.com .
  13. You're not too old to be a Merit Badge Counselor. I'll bet your local council would love to have you volunteer for that!
  14. Hmm... Maybe because they're not geocaches. Wherigos and Waymarks don't count either.
  15. It looks like somewhere between Ft. Pierce and Stuart.
  16. I don't know about Northern California, but there is one on Merritt Island in Central Florida. The geocaching shop is a seperate room in their "real" business (auto A/C parts). They have all of what you listed above plus a lot more. It's great to be able to get an ammo can, micro, log book or camo items on the spur of the moment.
  17. EXCELLENT!! Thanks for the quick response to your customers.
  18. I was LASF on this one because I literally walked right by it and into the store. Once inside, I could see it through the front window. Before I could get back out to it smilespwnsu arrived and opened it up. Drat!
  19. I was an early participant in this thread but dropped out because I don't find a lot of reward in beating my head against a wall. I've been out of the country for several days and returned today only to find that the final end of the KML had arrived and this thread had grown tremendously. Obviously, a lot of customers are unhappy. I'm curious about one thing, though. When will we be seeing the expected performance boost from the removal of this alleged resource hog? I haven't noticed any improvement since I last logged on over a week ago.
  20. In that case, is anyone else sailing on the "Freedom of the Seas" this weekend?
  21. Sounds like you need to move your PC to the other side of the house!
  22. Gee, are they going to force the removal of this location from all of the tour books, AAA guide books and (gasp!) the Conch Train Tour itinerary? When is the historical marker being removed? Next time I'm in town, I'll make a point of standing there a few minutes holding my GPSr.
  23. I was not jesting. The screen shot did not include the Wherigo icon, which made me curious. At that price, (as compared to the other Wherigo compatable units they sell), it would make a good entry level Wherigo device. Since they currently have 11 devices which will play Wherigo cartridges, I doubt having this questioned answered will demonstrate Garmin's stance one way or the other. I see you already noticed the lack of the Wherigo icon. Ignore my comment on the SCGA forum.
  24. With the Colorado 400t, I can toggle between the cache name and the GC#.
  25. Check here to see the discussion about the decision to remove this function.
