  1. You must have spooked her, her FB is now Private I guess, you can not get her page when you search for her.
  2. Good luck ttibby, since we started caching in 2008, I have lost 30 pounds, put some back on after I broke mt leg, but once the snow is gone and I am more active, BACK AT IT!! Great way to stay in shape. One thing on google earth, on my caches that I own, I notice that Google earth is off 50 to 100 feet, sometimes more. ENJOY THE INSANITY!
  3. I have not been fortunate enough to meet the responses yet, and they may wander but my bet is they are geocaching! What area are they from? The responses that is. On topic, you have been given siome good links and advice, welcome to the insanity! Keep on caching!!
  4. If the land is open and free, go for it. One thing to consider, why was the original archived?
  5. Call these guys if it bothers you so. It is a game, delete his log and move on. There is No one to report to, enjoy the game, play your way!
  6. Coogins, this topic is 2 years old.....I think it has been replaced by now. According to the web page, it has been, several times.
  7. IMHO, It is no different than dropping a business card, at least this one gets you something in the end. I have found several in my caches, I have not seen the coin yet, but, if it bothers you, take them out of your caches.
  8. Well the cache has been archived, so it is all a moot point.
  9. But I was commenting on that un-linked email story, which had some key points missing, being particularly vague about any bomb squad. It only talks about one interfered cop. So it seemed to be a small issue with one annoyed police officer, and no bomb scare. I was simply a saying it's completely preposterous, wacky, insane, sensless to bring everyone back to where a suspected bomb is (especially since the accused is not allowed to get close enough to prove it's not a bomb). I wasn't saying it's not unusual. Sorry for the confusion. I understand my dragon friend, thanks for the clarification! I too appologize for the confusion.
  10. I guess you missed this reply the last time to your contention that the bomb squad was not on scene, forget the email use the LINK, it has pictures! BOMB TECH! ROBOT! They were there! That funny looking guy in the cumbersome suit is an EOD tech, OBVIOUSLY, someone thought it was a bomb or that guy would NOT be there in a suit with the robot, that is the stuff they use for BOMBS, not the Sunday church social. Yes, suspects are returned to the scene of the crime ALL THE TIME, I have taken arson suspects back to the scene of a fire, thank God I have never had to deal with a bomb threat yet, but he day is coming, I am sure as Clan Riffster can confirm. It is not unusual. You take the suspect back to the CP area, and continue the discussion, not unusual in these cases at all.
  11. Nobody actually thought it was a bomb -- you don’t get brought to an active bomb site by the police. Did you read the story in the OP's link? That funny looking guy in the cumbersome suit is an EOD tech, OBVIOUSLY, someone thought it was a bomb or that guy would NOT be there in a suit with the robot, that is the stuff they use for BOMBS, not the Sunday church social. Yes, suspects are returned to the scene of the crime ALL THE TIME, I have taken arson suspects back to the scene of a fire, thank God I have never had to deal with a bomb threat yet, but he day is coming, I am sure as Clan Riffster can confirm. 12. A bit of research shows that HIGHWAY 13 is a MO. Limited Access Highway. According to the MO. DOT, it is ILLEGAL to park on the side of a HIGHWAY (Highway 13 IS a highway) or to walk along such designated motorways. If you must stop on the HIGHWAY, REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WALK ALONG THE ROAD. STAY IN YOUR CAR AND AWAIT HIGHWAY PATROL ASSISTANCE! So, according to these rules, the cache is in violation of the guidelines. The state maintains a minimum right of way of 50 from the edge of the road, this guardrail cache is in clear violation, even if you park else where and walk to it, you are breaking the law. MODOT would never have given permission for this cache to be placed on their right of way, as it violates their law.
  13. Could you please provide a link to the instructions? FOUND IT !!!Thanks

  15. Ya beat me to it...last time I don't read the forums for a day! Darn dragon!
  16. 120+ miles. Posted cords were for 3 counties over, reading the page, I knew there was something off, so I went to what we knew to be the area, rechecked our cords with the posted ones, rearranged our present location, and found the cache. It stayed like that for weeks until a reviewer made the repairs. 2 months later, I admittedly did the same dumb thing. Off by 30 to 40 miles, fat fingers, what can I say!
  17. You are a beacon of caching goodness cycler48, AWESOME GESTURE for the community.
  18. My fiance' loves caching as much as I do. It is usually a race between her and my 15 y/o son for the find. One will find it and not tell the other and act like they are double checking the palm for info while really signing the log, they are a riot. Recently she got to go on a hide run with me, her first, and shr loves the hide now as much as the hunt.
  19. The NANO!! It is bad enough that they have invaded the caching world, but now you can drive one, that's right now you can DRIVE a NANO while you hunt for one!! Lord help us all!!
  20. That is the best option we have found. We have several caches on private property, and this is exactly how we approach it every time. We have been denied 2 times out of 125 hides. We have many caches at local business' and most people really enjoy them.
  21. The one that went boom was placed at the managers directions in the pine trees at the edge of the lot, so as not to interfere with the traffic in the lot. From what we have been told, during a wind storm, (60+mph winds) it blew out of the tree and into the lot where it was thought to be a bomb. It was clearly marked as a cache too. The second was under a log on the side of the building, at a suggested location by the manager.
  22. It quickly can be taken apart for a rescue rope....etc. There is a story on the first link about a dad using one to rescue a boy who fell through ice on a lake. Several of my firefighters carry them. Fast egress out a window in a burning building. They are handy for many things, fixing a broken suspended cache, emergency belt for your britches, all sorts of things.
  23. t There have been several of these incidents where there was permission. The best way to avoid this is to give some thought to where they are hidden. If you place a cache in a high traffic area searchers are going to be noticed. Some people who notice them will consider them suspicious, and some who consider them suspicious will report them. As the OP, I figured this might come up. As much as I've been ranting for years that almost all parking lot micros are placed without permission and everyone knows it (and it's even the major reason that I personally ignore them all), I have to agree 100% with Snat here. Many caches with permission have been blown up. The major issue is not everyone knows about it. I'd have to search for it, but a Wally World Parking Lot micro that was placed with permission (shocking as that may seem) in Western Pa. was blown up last summer. WallyWorld TrvelBugHotel This was our teams cache, placed with permission of the manager, who failed to inform other employees. We also had another cache at WallyWorld, MEadville TB hotel placed with permission of one manager, but removed by another. Permission does not matter, muggles or employees will get you whenever they can.
