  1. I was about to leave work today and just happened to notice a nearby cache that had it listed. I figured others must have beat me to it, but decided to stop. On top of that this is a micro cache, how is this going to fit in? Well it was still there, with the TB tag inside the container and the jeep hanging on the outside. I'll be dropping it off this weekend. Thanks for this fun little addition to geocaching!
  2. First letter of each person in our family, in reverse chronological order. My wife gets credit for coming up with the name. We had been making soap for Christmas gifts and she thought that adding some labels would be a nice finishing touch. She came up with 'jcar soapworks' as the name to put on the label. As I was sitting trying to decide what the userid should be, she suggested I use jcar, since this was going to be something we did as a family. (Although it has become more my hobby now.)

    Eastside cachers

We are putting in a new system at work(Downtown Seattle), and a bunch of us saw it, but we did not know what it was, and we were busy enough that we forgot about within a few minutes. We did not hear or feel anything, but my family awoke to the noise.
  4. The only item I have not seen mentioned, that we carry, is a small mirror. Yes a mirror. Two caches made us resort to this. There was a bison capsule tucked under a metal rail covering where my fingers kept getting scrapped up trying to find it. And another cache where a mini-bison capsule was placed in a small hole in a tree that was too tall to look into and you could not really feel it. So am I cheating by using a mirror?
  5. I have gone through a couple of rolls of golden dollars since I started. My usual branch occasionally has the rolls, I ask each time I go in. They have told me that they canl special order the dollar rolls and $2 bills if I want. Couple of months back the branch had the Eisenhower ones and they were glad to get rid of them. I always ask when at the bank, one of the tellers now tells me straight out if she has anything when she sees me.
  6. My mother-in-law was leaving (new) socks in caches for a short while just after she started. One of the first caches we took her to ended in wet feet, and she wished she had dry ones to change into. I did not think anyone would put it as a legitimate item. I was very surprised to see the socks, and they appeared to be clean, and maybe new. I will keep an open mind on socks now. Thanks!
  7. So this weekend I found a pair of socks in a cache. I have no idea what they traded for. No mention is made online, I scanned the three logbooks but found nothing. On the topic of TB trades, I usually try to trade TB's, when I do not have any I usually leave dollar coins, usually $3 - 4. Too much? Too little? My cache bag is filled with $1 - $2 items, and the occasional $3. I always try to leave something, but only occasionally take, unless my daughters are along, and then all we seem to do is trade. I'm sure I have unintentionally traded down, but not on purpose.
  8. I look for caches in cemeteries. Since even before getting into genealogy I would just stop and check out a cemetery. I enjoy wandering around in the quite setting and looking, thinking and reflecting on life and the lives of those present. My wife gets very tired of this. My first exposure to geocaching (not what got me interested) was a friend who was looking for a cache in Seabeck Cemetery in Washington State. It is one of the most unusual cemeteries I have been to, in my limited travels. It contains two caches GCGC3D and GCC800. I probably would have found out about this cemetery eventually, but I’m glad I found it when I did. The key is respect and common sense by both the hider and the seeker.
