  1. Where can I get the KML file to show geocaches in Google Earth? I have looked in both geocaching.com and google earth and can't seem to find it.
  2. That's not a measure of accuracy. You have no idea how accurate the owner's GPS was. I was just comparing it to the T2000 and the PN-40 and it did not stack up favorably, that is all I was saying.
  3. I have a Triton 2000 and a PN-40. Last weekend I went caching with a friend who has a 60csx. We used all three GPS's and at the end of the day I liked the Triton 2000 the best of the three. It is extremely accurate, keeps sat. lock very well and has a lot of customizable features and includes a camera. The -40 was not as accurate and the screen is small but I do like the imagery you can download to the unit. The 60csx was OK but nothing special. Some caches it was fairly accurate but others it was way off. The Triton was the most consistant. Plus the firmware has been fixed now and works very well too.
  4. I can't believe your comparing the 200 with the 400t. They are so different it is not even close to being fair. Try comparing with the Triton 1500 or 2000. They are both great units and work just fine.
  5. I have had a Triton 2000 since Dec. 07 when they came out. They had problems at first but now with the most recent firmware I think it is a great unit. The screen is a little dim in daylight though. Otherwise, it is extremely acurate and tracks 8 or 9 sats. normally. I don't agree with the above post about lots of inputs to goto a cache but maybe the 400 is different. I highly recommend the 2000
  6. Why don't you just delete the cache that you found on the Triton after you have logged it? You don't need it anymore so why keep it?
  7. I would go with either the 1500 or the PN-40. I have a Triton 2000 and a -40 and love them both. Magellan has gotten a bad rap lately but the firmware issues have been worked out so my only complaint is their customer service. However if you unit work great like mine does you will never need it. Forget the 60csx, it is not paperless and is too big. Get the 1500 or PN-40, you will love either one.
  8. I have had my -40 for about a month now and love it! It has never crashed and locks sats. very quickly. All the downloadable imagery and maps makes it possible to have any view you want from color or B/W photo maps to Topo or a hybrid of both. You can't go wrong with it in my opinion. Some of the previous comments about a lot of bugs is a bunch of hewie. Check out Delormes forum to see what users think about it. My friend has a 60csx and I would'nt use it just because it is not paperless. He has had it in for service twice also so they are not bullet proof as some seem to say. I would take my Triton 2000 (firmware works great now by the way) or PN-40 before a 60csx anyday!
  9. I used to own an Explorist 500 and as I recall there is an option to turn on POI's somewhere in the menu. Have you done that? Go through all the menus and check each one for some detail you may have missed.
  10. I am a dedicated Triton 2000 user and it now works great for me. It is true that when it was released it had many problems but now it works very well. Accuracy is spot on and the camera and voice recording are nice features for keeping track of cached found etc. Even though their customer support is lousy I still like my unit alot.
  11. Why not say it aloud? I expect people to reply - pro or con - eventually someone might listen, because no company in the world wants unhappy customers and the bad publicity that flows from it. In the end what's important to me is where I stand as a customer. As I already said - I paid a lot of money, and I'm not happy with a half baked product.

  13. For best battery life make sure you use the highest capacity rechargeables. My Triton 2000 gets about 8 hours which is fine for me. Also go to Tritonforum.com for the best website all about Tritons. We have a great bunch of people in that forum that help each other out alot.
  14. That's a bit ridiculous, don't you think? Grow up! I own two Meridians and a CrossoverGPS. They ALL work as expected. No better, no worse than any other unit out there. I'm a little sick of the Maggie bashers out there, most of which don't even own a Magellan! I don't own a Triton and I can wait for either the firmware to be fixed or a newer better line to be released, given the reports I've read. I hope Magellan can get it's act together and fix their firmware AND customer support. Until then, I'm happy with the Maggies that I already own. JetSkier GROW UP? Learn to read! - it's unanimous against ANY triton gps on this forum. Not so fast! I own a Triton 2000 and an Exlplorist 500 and love them both. The firmware updates work and a new one to finish off the final problems is due out next week. I wouldn't trade my Triton for a Colorado for any reason.
  15. I find it interesting that so many people that have never visted the forum have an opinion. If you have not visited and studied it, your opinions are worthless. For those of us that have been members of Tritonforum.com for a long time we know how helpful it has been. Everybody on the forum tries to help each other and it is a great community of people except for the one or two that have a personal grudge. Get over it already.
  16. Check tritonforum.com for full instructions
  17. Yes, all the Tritons seem to have the same problem. My 2000 is the same way and it only lists the first 15 caches even though I have 25 on the map. There have been many posts of this same problem. Hopefully the next firmware update will fix it.
  18. Hmm, maybe you have a bad unit. My 2000 changes screens in less than a second. The detail maps change in less than 3 seconds. I have 40 geocaches loaded and didn't notice a change in speed.
  19. Try using Mapsend TOPO 3D. It has a great street level map too and is very easy to read. The colors and layout are far superior to NG Topo as far as I am concerned. I returned my NG Topo because I liked the Mapsend so much better. Does it work on this unit? I was under the impression that you had to use specific map software. I have Mapsend Topo 3D on my 2000 and have no problems. Works just fine.
  20. This is unacceptable.... Definitely unacceptable! But..... is it possibly set for kilometers instead of miles?? What do you use for detailed street maps on it? I can't find any info on that anywhere, they are just pushing the National Geographic topo maps. I don't care about topo maps. Does DirectRoute North America work on it?? On my Magellan Meridian, you just hold the "goto" button down for 10 seconds or so and it brings up the screen to mark your current location as a waypoint. I think I read somewhere that the Triton does it the same way. Did you try that? Thanks for the info! Try using Mapsend TOPO 3D. It has a great street level map too and is very easy to read. The colors and layout are far superior to NG Topo as far as I am concerned. I returned my NG Topo because I liked the Mapsend so much better.
  21. I went to "Find Geocache by Zip Code" I found many in my area. I clicked on the download icon on the far right of the listing and another box pops up called "Send to GPS: with a note stating "We currently support only Garmin™ GPS units. Garmin Communicator Plugin NOT detected. Download and install now I didn't go any farther since I don't have a Garmin GPS. If you go go the GC home page and put your zip code in the appropriate box and the click on the arrow just to the right of that box it will bring up a page of nearby caches. Go to the bottom right of that page and click on the "Check All" box. Then click on the "Download Waypoints". When the little box opens select "Save to disk" (we then browse to "My Documents and save"). Once the file is saved you can open VantagePoint and "Import" waypoints. When given the chance to select the type choose "Geocaching .loc" type of file and choose the file you just saved to "My Documents". The third one from the bottom in this picture. VantagePoint should open that file and let you download it to your GPSr. This should get you going. John My current version of Vantagepoint only shows options for Meridian and GPX Exchange files. Those are the only two under import wizard. It says I have the most current version. The .loc file option along with all the others are not listed.
  22. So, I have to be a Premium Member to use it? PQ is only availabel to Prem. members I think. Seems weird to have to join and pay money just for downloads.
  23. How do you transfer geocaching points from geocaching.com to Vantage Point? It saves them to the computer as a gsak file which Vantage Point does not read. What gives? What is the correct procedure?
