  1. I'll try to choose the wording of this thread post such that it does not get closed. When I was a newbie at this (wait, am I still a newbie?), I came across the information about a geo coin club dot com (not naming any particular vendors ), but I didn't particularly like the designs that they were showing at the time. After reading a certain recent closed topic, I looked at the vendor's site that was mentioned in the OP. I saw that they also had a club, and found that their designs were much more appealing to me, 'cause we all have our own preferences, obviously. So, would it be a thread killer to ask what particular designs that have been offered by whatever clubs there are would be your favorites?
  2. This is a masterpiece. Someone must record this... Oh! And it can be GEOMAN's TV show theme song!I am just full of these great ideas...
  3. This is a masterpiece. Someone must record this...
  4. No, the sharing would only be between premium members (via "subscribing"), so they are not losing premium member income.
  5. I'll be in the area next week, and I am looking for some advice about the best must-find ammo cans. Thanks!
  6. I reported this as a stolen item auction. Here is the text that I typed into the description field: These are trackable items from the hobby called "geocaching". These items belong to other geocachers
  7. Shortly after I first started reading this thread, last Saturday evening, I received an email notification for a new cache published in the area. It was nearing 10 PM, so I wasn't going to head out and try to get it right away. I decided that I would try to get up early Sunday morning and seek my fortune. I loaded the coordinates into my GPS'er, studied the google map, and formulated my quickest route. I was able to wake up on time, roust my 12 year old son out of bed, and head out by 6:22 AM while it was still dark. To make a long story short, we got the FTF, beating the STF by less than 30 minutes, and it was a thrill for both of us. Two weeks ago, we had tried the same thing and missed FTF by the same 30 minutes, but we still had fun, and that was what mattered. My advice is to just keep trying. In three months of caching, with 73 finds, I have managed to get 6 FTFs by taking advantage of little opportunities like this.
  8. Because of having run into some of the same issues in the past few months, I have learned to write down the bug & coin numbers of everything that I grab or retrieve, so that if I later need to do something that I forgot about, I have the number.
  9. I never panned the map. I selected the waypoint, hit "Go to", and drove the (several) miles to the cache.
  10. That sounds like trash to me. I would clean it out.
  11. I had this happen to me yesterday for the very first time. It was also the very first time that I had used EasyGPS to download the waypoints to my eTrex Venture HC. I got to GZ and poked around for 20 minutes before I realized that the cache was 170+ feet away. Today, I checked the coordinates loaded into my GPS'er with the ones posted on the cache page. The western coordinate was off by .036, which is about 168 feet at my lat/lon. I have never had this happen before, and it just seems too coincidental that I used EasyGPS for the first time ever to load my waypoints.
  12. I tried gluing some magnets to the inside of a small Lock & Lock with JB Weld, but it did not hold. Maybe I should have sanded the plastic first.
  13. Wow, that's a good one. I'm not sure that if it was me, I would ever admit to it...
  14. If you could not get the container open, then how can you be sure that you found the cache? Maybe you just found a rusted mint tin.
  15. Some people like to use them for something completely different - careful now! GC17BVA Groover Duty Too I pray they simply discard the used "cache" container at the end of the trip.
  16. Mmmmmm...... Where is this cache? Joes's Eatery sounds great! I need directions...
  17. I don't see the time converter link on the product page
  18. Consider yourself lucky. I just brought a couple of cans home from my local surplus shop, with nary a whiff of funk to sniff. I'm gonna have to put something funky in there myself and leave them in the garage for a while to get anything like what you got gratis! Man, don't let anyone else know where you are getting your supply!
  19. I own this cache, which is the closest one to the convention center: "Makes SENSE" - 50 States Have you found it yet? I must admit, it is not the most exciting cache in town, but it's worth finding if you are in the area. I work right there at High & Nationwide; we could have lunch someday and talk about what you want to do.
  20. When I found that one, the log was full and soaking wet. I had forgotten to bring an extra log book, so I had to scratch my name in the dirt beside the post with a stick. The CO deleted my log entry because my name was not in the log.
  21. The cache is GC1FCMY. I did delete the log entry, since I did not want the spoiler to remain on the page.
  22. I wish I could, but I see that the cache is "NW 2008.2mi from my home coordinates". I won't be able to make it by Saturday It sounds like a great cache. Better luck this time!
  23. A local cacher posted a spoiler for one of my caches in his found-it entry. I emailed him and politely asked him to remove the spoiler. So far, I have received no response. How many of you would delete the log entry? I have thought about doing that, but have been hesitant.
  24. How do I order some of these excellent coins?
