  1. I'm glad that I came across this topic, because it helped me to solve a problem that I have been mulling over for quite some time. I have been wanting to bring my daughter's account up to date with the cache finds that she found with me, but I had never entered any finds for her for the past three years. I loaded "My Finds" into GSAK and exported a CSV file with just the GC code, date found, and cache name. I opened the CSV file in Excel and changed the date format form MM/DD/YYYY to YYYY-MM-DD. I deleted the lines for caches that she did not find, then I opened the file in TextPad (a fantastic text editor). I recorded a macro in TextPad to add the rest of the date field and to add a log comment. I uploaded the file to her field notes, then was able to create a log entry with two clicks on each field note. It took a while, with over 250 notes, but it was much easier than trying to create a log from scratch for each of her finds.
  2. I envision a future where the container is covered in mud, and therefore gets mud all over the contents when it is opened...
  3. That is awesome. I would love to find that. A nice, expensive-looking stainless steel container. I'm wondering how long it will be before it disappears...
  4. Oh, that's a good one. After looking at the bottom image, I could go back to the top and see where the mirror was. Now to think of a practical use for this... <evil laugh>
  5. The quote said "every time...", so it looks like two fairies were killed with one cache...
  6. I don't understand why the reviewer or anyone else would care if there was an "FTF Frenzy", whatever that is.
  7. Of the 20 or so M&M containers that I have found, every one of them has been wet inside and had a moldy log. At least in Ohio, it is one of the worst containers ever.
  8. Just because we go to this Meijer often, and I like to place caches where I spend a lot of time. Plus it would be another quick park and grab smiley for geocachers grabbing a few groceries. Please don't use a film canister, or other container that will leak and create a soggy log.
  9. The GPS unit in my Verizon Motorola Droid is quite good. It usually takes me as close to the "real" GZ as my Garmin eTrex Venture HC does.
  10. Why not just use real PI leaves and increase the difficulty rating?
  11. Please, start yourself off on the right foot, and never use film canisters or other containers that leak. An excellent micro container is the "Waterproof Matchstick Holder", sold at Wal*Mart for $1. They are orange but can be painted easily or covered with camo duct tape, also available at Wal*Mart. Other good ones are bison tubes, lock & locks, and ammo cans. Here is a page to read about containers: Cache Containers
  12. Did you happen to notice the post just 2 posts above yours? There are very good reasons why Groundspeak doesn't (and shouldn't) tolerate the discussion of the offending app on these forums. [ Editedy by moderator. Thanx for the support, but that extends to quoting offending posts before they can be nuked, too. ]
  13. Notice my sig line. I made it up as a joke, but it has turned out to be more true than I would have liked. But it hasn't stopped me from cachin'. Do you actually have squished pennies with that slogan on them? I would love to trade you my sig item for one or two of those...
  14. Here is a link to an information page that I created on how to make a cache container from a plastic pop bottle: Bottle-cap micro container
  15. This is one of the most awesome caches that I have ever found.
  16. Don't put something in the hint that isn't. Nobody likes decoding "I don't think there is a need for any hint" while out in the field.
  17. I am a LEGO minifig who likes to go geocaching, hence LEGO Cacher
  18. Okay, I gotta ask: what is "DRR" supposed to mean?
  19. They cost $1.25 here! Is an FTF really worth 75 cents?
  20. It's a great unit, I have found over 300 caches with this GPS'er.
  21. That container would probably come up "missing". I wouldn't spend $160 on a cache container.
  22. A couple of days ago, after opening a cache container, I found a receipt where someone had bought a burrito at Chipotle! "Woopty hoo haw" I thought, as I wadded up the piece of trash to carry it out. I hate having to do CITO on the cache container. Folks, it is a CACHE container, not a TRASH container!
