  2. It comes with a waypoint manager CD. I have an metroguide North America I can through in for $20, I bought the City Navigator but it is only good for one unit. I can email u some pics of it. Geoff
  3. I have a used garmin vista C, with neoprene case, original packaging. Excellent "like new" shape. 256-color, sunlight-readable display makes it easy to distinguish map details and see where you're going Automatic route generation, off-route recalculation, turn-by-turn directions with alert tones, and icon-driven menus for finding points of interest (when combined with Garmin's optional MapSource CDs) navigate you safely to your destination Longer battery life for more hours of outdoor enjoyment Mini-USB port for fast, convenient download of map data from Garmin's entire library of optional MapSource CDs using a PC I can load up to 24 MB of any map you want. $50 plus actual delivery cost. Or pickup if in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
  4. Thanks Marky...I will play with that. a lot of this is just figuring out what it can do! Thats where this forum is helpfull Geoff
  5. First of all I am happy with this firmware upgrade. The street labels were a big bone of contention for me coming from a Vista C. The field notes are great! Now that they are there and the Paperless geocaching has been improved, I want to make some comments and hope others to add. Maybe time for a new/revised Colorado ISSUES and WISH LIST. GEOCACHING- -with just loading GPX files, icons seem to be appearing on map in GEOCACHING mode. However, the icon changes to an OPEN cache for any log entry made (ie not found or maintenance reqd) -if you select compass or map mode other than Geocache view, you cannot select description/logs/hint unless you go back to geocaching icon and reselect the cache. -it would be nice if you could enter some notes with the find (TB found, etc) that would go into Filed Notes. Other -it would be nice if when looking at waypoints as a list in the goto or waypoint management page if the icon for the type of waypoint would appear beside the name. -Not sure how to adjust or change BEEPS for autoroute turning? These are a little picky....but seeing as how garmin did make some changes in a fairly short time, they might as well keep making a good prodect better! Ideas? Geoff
  6. Thanks to all. I was looking at the Vista HCX because of the expandable memory and high reception sensitivity when I saw the Colorado. There seems to be some initial discontent but overall a good upgrade???? OTE
  7. Hello all. I am thinking of trading in my Vista C and buying The Colorado 300 when its released in Canada. 2 Questions. 1) is it compatible with most or all Mapscource maps? I have city select NA v6, Topo Canada v2, Metroguide Europe v8, City Navigator Australia 2008. 2) how is it for use as a CASUAL Auto navigation aid (turn by turn directions, etc.) I am also a casual Geocacher (obviously) and with eyed not what they used to be, looking for a bigger screen, as well as expandable memory. Thanks. OTE
  8. Yes, I was thinking that by making it a whole new one...and a little different, the locals can come back and have some fun with it...again! OTE
  9. Question: I have a traditional Cache that has disappeared twice in the last 10 months. I like the area as it is good for novice GCs and close to home so I was considering changing it to a Multi and using a micro as the forst stage to help evade some of the destructive muggles. Do I have to relist it as a new one or can I change the existing??? Thanks OTE
  10. DOOAH! I guess I was looking at Metroguide...thank goodness I didn't ADD to CART! Maybe E-Bay isn't so bad? I will have to decide how much driving I do in the USA that really requires AUTOROUTing!!! Thanks.
  11. Radioworld has the best price in Canada as of today.
  12. How do the Topo Canada and USA compare and where do you get them?
  13. Thanks again....anyone want some perfectly good Metroguide USA and/or Metroguide Canada CDs, CHEAP! Geoff
  14. Well that really ....is not good. Is there an older version of USA Metroguide that does support it? Its a shame to have to spend more money on these mapsource products. But thanks all for the replies!
  15. I am using Metroguide USA v5. Thats what I thought...the GPS shows the sideroads but it only seems to see the basemap. I used it back in Canada this evening and it seemed to work fine. But its a different map. As far as the LOCK ON ROAD, I would think that wouldn't affect the route it draws for you...either way, I tried to recalculate the route with Lock turned off and on. Thanks. geoff
  16. Another Autorouting Q. I was walking from my hotel in St.Louis to a nearby cache and autorouting would comletely avoid the sidestreets...even when I was standing on them, selected AVOID HIGHWAYS and navigate as a PEDESTRIAN. I have emailed Garmin...any other thoughts? Geoff
  17. I guess I have to let the VistaC do it. Maybe we can all keep bugging Garmin to add this to their next firmware upgrade? Another Autorouting Q. I was walking from my hotel in St.Louis to a nearby cache and autorouting would comletely avoid the sidestreets...even when I was standing on them, selected AVOID HIGHWAYS and navigate as a PEDESTRIAN. I have emailed Garmin...any other thoughts? Geoff
  18. Has anyone had any sucess creating an Autoroute on the PC with Mapscource and then transfering it to a Vist C or Legend C? When I do it it revets to a straight line.
  19. As I have not heard back from the other interested party, its yours...as per the email I sent you. GE
  20. I have heard from ROCKY...a different user I assume? If there are any questions please don't hesitate to ask. FYI I live in Burlington, Ontario Canada...but you probably already knew that!
  21. I sent my Vista in for warrenty repair as the click stick was...sticking and Garmin replaced it with a new unit. I am looking to upgrade to the Vista C (mostly for the USB connection as I regularly change maps) and would like to sell the Vista while it is great condition. All origional packaging included. Asking $200 CAD (about $169.00 USD) Geoff
  22. Thanks to all... I will try the glaze...the humour was much appretiated as well!
  23. My son used my Garmin Vista to break his fall and scratched the screen. Any suggestions on a really good plastic polish or a easy and chep repair? Thanks OTE
  24. I am only very slightly knowlegable on HTML and would like to add a photo or other background to my Cache page(s) Can someone give me the idiots guide to doing this? Thanks OTE
