  1. Aww shucks. The Nuisance series isn't that bad. OK....#1...yeah...a sick sense of humour and me thumbing my nose at those cachers who cache and dash through MTRP. Here's one that says, "yeah....you can find me...but can you log me?" #2: An aborted idea of mine, that due to Admin, defaulted to a regular cache with a long hike. Originally it was going to be a moving cache within the confines of MTRP. #3: Yeah...the puzzle rears it's ugly head. Hell, MTRP NEEDED a puzzle cache! Doesn't mean necessarily it has to ALL be in MTRP does it? #4: TCD. Terrestrial Camouflage Device. Say no more. Actually I think there are two more Nuisance bombs that I planted but never got round to activating. Of course I've lost the coords since, so no biggie. For those of you who have re-adopted my caches, send me a note if anything needs done or replaced. --TT--
  2. Tons of reasons: Snakes are valid terrain difficulties too. A mountain is really a mountain! Horizon....you can see it. Wide open skies and tons of GPS signal. I've seen my accuracy to within 4 ft. When your GPS says you're 10 ft. from the cache....you're 10 feet from the cache. No silly canopy cover to screw your signal up. Lack of muggles. . . . etc. ad nauseum I'm a desert boy stuck in Jersey. Ugh...I miss desert caching. These pine forests are so annoying at times --TT--
  3. Yikes! Just got back to NJ and see the accidents galore in the forums. God speed for a quick and painless recovery to Dave and Jason. Is it me, or does SD seem to have its disproportionate share of really bad accidents? Are we all just that clumsy/intrepid/idiotic and/or are the hides getting exceedingly more brutal? I don't see the OC or anywhere else really having the per capita accident rate with caching that SD does. ANd thanks to all who came to the event on the 30th. Made my short stay in SD that much better to run into all you guys again. Hope to be back out again soon! --TT--
  4. Ahhh....good Ol' Highpointer. Yeah....he's a bit...ummm..... Well just sit right back and you'll hear a tale.... Highpointer once held an event a couple years back in AZ and had as a raffle prize a fully stocked ammo can. My mother won the event raffle and got this ammo can. HP requested that, if it were convenient to do so, this ammo can be placed in a desert area that was a half mile from any roads. My mother held onto the can without placing it, until she had to go out of town for awhile. Instead of sitting on it any further, she decided to place it in the desert wash area behind her house. Secluded. Off the main roads, but not by a half mile. She figured it was better to place the can instead of waiting the three months until she got back into town. It was hers to place and better a cache than no cache at all. Well. This upset good ol Highpointer to no end. Now mind you...My mother lives in Tucson, approximately 115 miles to the southeast of Tempe, the home of Highpointer. Well....Highpointer decided that my mother violated his "rule" about the cache placement, and decided to get the can back....two months after my mother won it....115 miles away....while she was out of town...and without telling her. But....here's where it gets good. Highpointer decided that he couldn't just ask my mom to move it to a more remote area. And certainly he couldn't come down to Tucson without doing other caches in the area. So he got another cacher (who shall remain nameless here) to drive him down to Tucson (couldn't spend his own $20 on the tank of gas) on the pretense of doing a cache run. So they came down to Tucson one weekend and bashed around the area getting a few. The other cacher decides that it's time to wrap up and head back up to Phoenix. But Highpointer became irate and irritated because they had nto swung by my Mom's neighborhood. Eventually, Highpointer freaks out and the other cacher placates him by driving over to the area. They find the ammo can in question and log it. Then Highpointer shows his true colors. He grabs a rusted cookie tin from his pack and proceeds to swap the cookie tin for the ammo box. Doesn't even swap out the contents of one into the other. With incredulity at HP's actions, the other cacher proceeded to ask him what the heck was going on. ANd HP said that he was taking back the ammo can because he could and that it was OK with the cache owner. Nope...my mom never gave permission for removal of her cache. Needless to say when all in AZ found out about his shennanigans, especially his ride down there that day, there was such a backlash against him in the community that he pretty much has become persona non grata there. One ammo can. 230 miles RT to retrieve. And a lifetime of ill will earned. Good job HP! Don't even ask the locals in Phoenix about his Travel bug police shennanigans unless you've got two weeks of unscheduled time. Just thought you mike like to know the type of person you'll be dealing with. --TT--
  5. Ahhh yes....the Magic Loogie conspiracy. And if you can answer TrailGator's question, then you have 1/17th of the answers you need to solve my old Seinfeld puzzle cache, "Yada Yada Yada (the cache about nothing)". On my way to AZ today....see all youse in a week in sunny SD! --tt--
  6. That's rather a personal question, don'cha think? Besides...last time on this thread there was talk about me and my pole, I got an academic grant to the SCC Ranch to shovel a pile of....well you get the point! NOW...The Feats of Strength!!! --TT--
  7. Six months in NJ, and I just would like to say that I'm extraordinarliy disappointed in all of you. Let us now commence with the Airing of Grievances and the Feats of Strength. ..for the rest of us --TT--
  8. I'm extraordinarliy disappointed in all of you. ..for the rest of us --TT--
  9. Well....I am going to be in town the 30-2nd of January and I would like to smack around Puzzle Canyon (I.e. Rancho San Diego) and clean out the Adelos ones. I've all of his solved to date, and I would ever so enjoy some company to point and laugh at me. Any thoughts? --TT--
  10. OMG, I LOVE IT!!! *goes to the registry website* Hey!!! What? i don't even get to post a photo of my own car? Yup. TN LN SL. that's me. Here's a bigger photo: --TT--
  11. Hmm.....So I do get coolness points for BEATING Ben Stein (at least a few more than my big bro who just TIED him? ) [] --TT-- (pre-geocaching game show geek)
  12. I have a couple of San Diegos and a Wisconsin for trade. Make me some offers. --TT--
  13. Well....Tucson is my home town...the rest...DUH! Actually, TT was not my original handle. (little known fact). I was asked by Admin to change my handle. Certain words (vis a vis Carlin's 7 dirty words you can't say on the air) are filtered out. Usually because they stand alone as seperate words. So GC.com won't let you have them in you handle, however if you scrunch them together..... I used to play NTN trivia a lot, and I always used the handle "Crackwhore" when playing. When I'd win the game, I'd loving hearing, "....that darned Crackwhore!!!" emanating from the audience. So for my first 10 logs, I was "Crackwhore". I'm sure some still feel that was a better name for me. --TT--
  14. Ebay'ed and Paypaled for 2 Regulars.
  15. Let's go to the tape! --------------------------------- For the record, 281/3013, or 9.3 % of my total finds are mystery/puzzle caches. Sick, eh? --TT--
  16. Those of you who know me are aware that I'm not one to usually be at a loss for ideas when it comes to geocaching. But I've been racking my brain tonight and I juts can't figure something out. I got my SD geocoins in the mail today, and I am totally at a loss as to what to name them. Seriously. I was thinking that maybe some local SD icon would be nice, or some local establishment that I liked i.e, Moondoggies, or PB Bar and Grill, or Dave and Buster's would be funny. Then I thought that naming one after Black's Beach and having a mission of "catching some moon shine there" would be cool. Then I thought perhaps naming them after local cachers would be good too. Help! What ideas are percolating in the SD crowd for good SD-based names? --TT--
  17. OK...I have to ask. I am a desert rat, and while I have enjoyed the sand ever so much that I found in Wharton this weekend, I would like to know who/what exactly is a "Piney"? Where does one cease being a Jerseyian and become a "Piney"? Is it a state? A state of mind? Is it south of the 195? Are pine trees a pre-requisite? Do I have to walk and boat with honourable men and, women, now too? Is there and application to fill out? Some sort of DMV Piney test I can take? Or none of the above? [] --TT--
  18. Congratulations to Loca Roja on # 300 on "Signs of the Times". Not bad for a weekend warrior! And to everybody else: Congrats to (insert name here) on number: That should cover it for awhile! --TT--
  19. Kama Raga, I would highly discourage you from placing caches on Tribal land. Even with their permission, not all of the tribal people tend to look kindly on outside folk venturing onto their lands. I only speak from the hearsay knowledge of the tribal lands in Arizona, but there are places where non-tribal members are arrested per tribal policy for being on the reservation without permission. IN certain reservations in AZ, where major roads cut through, basically you are allowed to be in your car moving on the road, but not anywhere else. Putting caches that would tend to draw people off into the brush or canyons or anywhere else is probably setting cachers up for needless confrontation. Of course, it all depends on each tribe's policy. Not sure about Barona. But the "Uber San Diego 6533' " cache was disabled because the nation closed the reservation to outsiders, as an FYI. So there is history of tribal nations being closed off in the SD area. Oh....and please try my puzzles. They're ever so fun! [] --TT--
  20. FYI, just to satisfy myself and sense of guilt, I've actually done the first stage of Chaos, and a couple of parts of level #9. And I intend to do some more of the stages as I get the time and equipment to go to Wharton more in future. There are plenty enough opportunities coming up. --TT--
  21. So here's the latest deal with Fear: Where: Somwhere on Staten Island? Maybe? When: Sat, November 19th, 2005, ~ 9:45 AM Weather Forecast: High 40's to Low 50's °F, Clear, no rain. Who's In: Karrorite, Trowel32, Ekitt10, Quoddy, LocaRoja, TucsonThompsen, candover, briansnat??? Who's Welcome: Anybody else...Come one come all! Meeting Place: N 40° 34.383 W 074° 08.783, a parking lot off of Richmond Hill Road and Old Mill Road on the east side of LaTourette Park. This is the parking area used by some to go after a nearby traditional cache "S.W. LaTourette". Just north of the cemetery entrance on Richmond Hill Road, you'll see a road called Old Mill Road trailing off into the distance. It looks like a dead end with a gate at the end of the street at the St. Andrews Church rectory. It is a dead end...but to cars only. Hiking to the end of the road and stepping around the gate starts us off towards "Fear" What to bring: ANything and everything? I have no idea what to expect. If you've climbing rope, that might be a good idea. Canoe? Good idea. Bringing hip waders or crappiest, muddiest gear is probably a good idea. Gloves and snipping tins or a good machete might also be warranted as bushwhacking is most probably involved to some extent, according to our advanced recon scout karrooite. Hiking poles a good idea too. Snack food, a couple of bottles of water, a few IV bags of d5w and other first aid gear might be a good idea as well. FRS Channel: #2 Goal: Some sort of container. Are we geeks or what? Why: Because it's there. That's why. (and it's a 5/5) (and the camraderie...can't forget about that.) That's about it. Anything else if left to the imagination and our own fears. --TT--
  22. A big congratulations to the Cow Spots for the creation of his second Micro-cacher. Jason Christopher Thompsen Born 11/17/2005, 3:24 PM MST 8.5 lb, 22" Good job, bro! --TT--
