Garmin 60cs Screen Protectors
Team BlackZ replied to jbclimber's topic in GPS technology and devices
I just got the new ones from Strong also. The fit looks good. I have not put one on yet, may try shadow's idea. It's hard to argue with their customer service and they offer a 100% money back guarantee. I just wish the screen protector looked better when it was on. -
Just wanted to say congratulations to Gus The Golden on 300 plus. Great job!! Also, they have placed some of the best caches around Richmond Va.

Lost My Belt Clip "knob" On 60cs
Team BlackZ replied to Cabinwood's topic in GPS technology and devices
Mine came loose to, but i saw it just before it fell off. I didn't realize it screwed off until it was almost to late -
You don't have to hit the enter key. It will reacquire by itself. Oh, I agree, I would like to have a beep after reacquiring also.

Here's the reply from Garmin about our problem: Chris, I am sorry that you are having a problem with the 60CS. There has been a small amount of units that power off when using the rocker key on the altimeter page. This only happens when the unit has no recorded track log. If the unit has recorded a track log you can customize and navigate the altimeter page. Please check our website for potential fixes addressing this issue. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact our product support team at the phone numbers listed below or reply to this email. Garmin 60cs Windshield Mount Broke After 20 Min.
Team BlackZ replied to Team BlackZ's topic in GPS technology and devices
Has anybody tried the universal vent mount from Arkon? It looks like the 60CS would fit in it pretty well. -
I use the soft case that bought from Garmin. It works great. A little more money, but it works well. Garmin case

Garmin 60cs Screen Protectors
Team BlackZ replied to jbclimber's topic in GPS technology and devices
I also ordered the screen protectors from Strong Engineering, I don't recommend them either. They were a bit to big, so I had to trim them. But after getting them on, the screen looks terrible. Heck, I could see it better if it was scratched up than with the screen protector on it. I'll do my best not to scratch it I guess. -
On the way back from a long day of caching, I made a quick pitstop to get a drink, and when the 60CS thought I was off route, it tried to recalculate and totally froze up. I couldn't even get it to shut off with the power button. It had recalculated a few times earlier during my caching, with no problems. Anybody have this happen?

After reading the replies from my post about what car mount to get, I decided on the windshield suction cup mount. What a piece of junk. After 20 minutes of driving on a smooth interstate, the thing broke. The cheap plastic part of the suction cup latch just broke in half. The GPS crashed onto the dash. Seems to be okay, but I was mad. Hope GPSNOW will take it back, think I'll try the beanbag mount.

You want something tough and stylish in a pocket pc, check this bad boy out RECON -
Yep! mine does the same thing. I have to hit the rocker button a few times , but it does it. The screen just fades out, and the unit shuts off. E-mail being sent to Garmin now!

How Do You Like Your New 60cs?
Team BlackZ replied to Team BlackZ's topic in GPS technology and devices
Another quick observation... My 60CS seems just slightly better than my V as far as picking up the sats. I've done one route and it didn't crash. The best accuracy i have gotten with it is 16ft out in the open, which is no better than the V. I'm waiting to see how the 60CS does in heavy tree cover. -

I'll reply to my own question So far i'm really impressed with the 60CS. It fits great in your hand. The buttons are easy to get too. It really redraws the maps fast. I only got an hour to mess with it at lunch, so I'll find out alot more about it tonight. I do agree that the screen looks like it could get scratched very easy. -

Here's the link for the screen protectors Screen Protectors 60C/CS -
I found a cache hidden near an old car in the woods. How the car got there, who knows, nowhere near any road. I thought it was neat though.

Those who have it, what do you think. Any positives or negatives? Have you found your first Geocache with it? I know it's basically the same as the 60C. Mines on the Fed-Ex truck out for delivery. I'm sitting here patiently waiting......

First make sure you have chosen North American City Select V5 from the drop down menu on top of the page to the right. This may be the only selection you have, I have several different maps on mine. Make sure you click the maptool icon, left top. Just click on the map area you wish to load. A yellow square will show up to tell you what area on the map you are loading. When you click that area, it will put it on the maps tab. Make sure the box is checked at the bottom of the map tab for auto routing. You can zoom in on the map too to get a better idea of where you are and what map "set" you want to choose. When you have chosen your maps, download them to the GPS. Then on the GPS main menu, you should have a tab that says Mapsource info, click that and the GPS will show you what maps are installed. (This works with my GPS V, haven't gotten my 60CS yet. Should be similar. ) Then, I would let the GPS do the routing for you. I'm not sure if you can type in a starting address in Mapsource and then an ending address and get a route, I'm checking on that now.
