  1. My GPX Sonar on my pocket pc crashed for a second time. I had logged about 8 finds and went to reopen it and boom, all the notes and finds were gone. Also, it looks like there are more caches in the file now, some that were not there before. Does anybody have a clue what might have happened. I'm using V 1.2.2 beta on a HP iPAQ 4155 Pocket PC version 4.20.1081 (build 13100) Thanks
  2. Another congrats......... Great job!
  3. There are a bunch that Team Lawrence got for our event on 6/19/04 in the Richmond Virginia area. A lot of them have been placed in caches already. I plan on taking 2 of them to the VA/NC border near Lake Gaston and putting them in caches down there in 2 weeks so some NC cachers can log them.
  4. Just push the button and release to turn on. You don't have to hold it down. The only time you hold it down, is when you want to turn it off.
  5. Interesting on the compass fix. I've had some trouble with my 60CS compass i think. Maybe it will fix it. Thanks
  6. I wasn't in any real heavy cover and had a good signal, but certain areas in the park did have some spotty reception. Maybe that was it. Just seemed worse this time.
  7. I thought I had this figured out, but again I am having trouble when navigating to a cache, the direction arrow freezes. I placed two caches and so when checking my coordinates the arrow would freeze up, but the feet to the cache would continue to count down even though the arrow was pointing in the opposite direction. I recalibrated the compass twice and it did not fix the problem. Anybody else having this issue with the 60CS. I know it has been discussed before, any new developments on the problem. Thanks
  8. Mines similar to Z_Statman. Team is for the family, and BlackZ is for my fast Black 1994 Z28. Another car guy/Geocacher I guess
  9. No problems with my 60CS after the 3.30 software update. Also, I now calibrate the compass before heading out to the first cache of the day. The accuracy is dead on now.
  10. I see nothing wrong with asking for help from the owner. If you can't solve the puzzle, that sure takes the fun out of the cache. Of course this is all coming from a guy that has yet to solve a puzzle cache without asking for help from the owner. I'm terrible at puzzles
  11. Your right! I was having problems with my 60CS also. The pointer was jumping all over the place. I emailed Garmin, here is the reply: There is no set times when you should re-calibrate. I would recommend it whenever you change batteries or if the unit is giving strange readings or whenever you start an important trip. I recalibrated the compass, and it took me right to the cache I could not find two days ago, because the pointer would not settle down. I'm going to follow Garmin's advise. The only thing I don't quite understand is why you have to calibrate the compass, even when you are not using it. I normally don't turn on the compass when I head for a cache. But the calibrating worked
  12. Nope, using the bearing pointer. I e-mailed Garmin. Their suggestion was to calibrate the compass. How many times are you suppose to calibrate the compass and when?
  13. Great job Mopar! Congrats...
  14. gpsnow says it's in stock for $409 plus shipping
  15. Yeah, the compass was calibrated. The antenna's were pointing in the same direction. CurmudgeonlyGal seemed to get some of the same results I did. I really like the 60CS. I finally found that post about the pointer freezing up. Some say it has something to do with the waypoint name/using the mark button and manually putting in the waypoint, which is what I did on this particular cache. Maybe that has something to do with it
  16. Well, I was having some trouble with my 60CS. The arrow pointing to the cache keeps freezing up. I would actually walk away from the arrow and get closer to the cache. I know somebody else was having this problem to, but I can't find the topic for some reason. Anyway, I took my GPS V and the 60CS to see which did better. Well guess what, the GPS V had better accuracy just about the whole time, even in the woods. I was surprised. Plus no problems with the arrow pointing in the right direction. I'm wondering if something is up with this last software version for th 60CS. That's when I started having problems with it. Anybody have any comments?
  17. Thanks Geo, the new version is great. The keyboard pop up and timestamp on the field notes screen is awesome.
  18. I have this problem sometimes, but only when I am close to the cache. Usually if I walk a few feet the arrow will turn and point in the correct direction. My GPS V does the same thing. I'm guessing most people have this happen when they get close to the cache.
  19. Might want to update. Looks like they fixed a few bugs. Also the 60C has an update too.
  20. Don't use the strong ones, they are terrible. I asked for my money back because they are so bad, haven't heard a word. So much for their 100% money back, no questions asked guarantee.
  21. I got mine from clipart.com Works perfect for my user name.
  22. Good job! That first 100 is tough
