  1. Mike, what is the source of the gpx file? Would you be willing to email me the file, I'll take a look?
  2. 1 dozen Jalapeno Peppers (large) Slice in half along the length, remove seeds and core Fill cavity to level with cream cheese Wrap with bacon, secure with toothpick Place on the barbie, medium heat, until bacon is done Let cool, serve with ample supply of ice cold beer
  3. Yes, 50 nearest is all it shows. Be aware, after loading a query for a trip far off you may not have any show. This will led you to believe something is amiss with your unit. A quick search by name will calm your anxiety.
  4. What "found caches database"? Where? GC premium member>request my finds query>import query in GSAK database named whatever suits your fancy. I call mine MY GC Finds.
  5. If you happen to be a user of GSAK there is a macro that will scan your "found caches database" for multiple logs by you.
  6. What are you running your 'stats' with? GCSAK? It's not about the numbers? Other? Some caches may have been logged twice. This could be for several reasons. The owner may have moved or changed the hide and allowed a second log, or you could mistakenly logged a second time. I Believe the message reads: "WIIarefamily has xxx finds on XXX unique geocaches".
  7. Taken from the Garmin site: Running the latest software releases for Garmin Colorado, Oregon, and Dakota devices, using paper maps with Garmin outdoor handhelds is easier than ever with Garmin Custom Maps. This unique feature allows users to combine Garmin map drawing technology with georeferenced map images, effectively putting a paper map inside your Garmin GPS. Creating a Garmin Custom Map for your Colorado, Oregon, or Dakota device is easy. Read about it here
  8. Download WEB UPDATER from the Garmin site. Makes life easy!
  9. Have you been using the same computer with Vista OS the last three years? Any other apps using ports, cameras, storage devices, etc?
  10. Yes it is. The unit will have a base map installed. From Garmins site: What's in the Box: GPSMAP 76 Basemap Database: Marine Point Serial PC interface cable Wrist strap Owner's manual Quick start guide If you don't need routable maps you can download free street and topo maps from gpsfiles.com. Install them to your computer and use mapsource to place them on the gps. There is a link here also for free Mapsource GPS comes with 8mb of internal memory so be selective on the area you wish maps for, it will fill up fast. The unit has serial interface, not usb. Depending on your computer you may need an adapter cable to usb. If that is the case they can be finniky, but you will find help here also for that. Good luck.
  11. A pocket query may also be generated from the GC.com Google map displayed on cache pages. A work around may be to estimate a location where the center of the county is, click to center it in the center of the map and do your query from that point. the zoom scale will determine the query search radius.
  12. Do you have a second sd card? Load your preferred mapset on it and switch em out. Save the other in case you change your mind latter.
  13. Since our max is 500 per query, you may need more than one query anyway. Especially if the county is large or has a high concentration of caches.
  14. Here's what works for me: Go to my Gallery Double click photo-this takes me to the cache page Click edit photo Click the trash can in the top right corner
  15. From Garmin's site: Change History Changes made from version 3.90 to 4.00: Fixed several errors in NMEA statements introduced in 3.90. Fixed WAAS information not showing 'D' in satellite bars. Error was introduced in 3.90. Other minor bug fixes. I wonder if this all they done. My 60CSX was acting like your 76 until I updated the Firmware/Software. Just a thought
  16. With the HCx and GSAK you can have a fair amount of info at your disposal. Load your caches with one of the excellent POI macros from GSAK and go caching. Although not fully paperless, (no long descriptions) you will still have lots to use. I would purchase a larger sd card for this unit, also free maps can be had from gpsfilesdepot.
  17. There has been several questions on this subject since the woot sale. Some answers can be found here
  18. Whether the download comes from the cache page, or a pocket query(be a premium member for this) loaded into GSAK or another app, you are still loading a gpx or loc file. My understanding is your new unit reads a different format, wpt. Robert Lipe, master of GPS Babel is agreeing to engineer a script to convert your gpx file to wpt so your unit will be caching friendly. You have already found that GC.com doesn't support this format. Your best hope is to do the following, IMO. Hop on over there and chime in that you also need this feature and are willing to supply input and test results. The list is growing, seems a lot of folks saw the woot. The more people needing, requesting the support, the more apt it is to be implemented.
  19. Greetings, You may want to read this post from another site: http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=13732&hl=
  20. This should explain it all, step by step: http://support.Groundspeak.com/Support/ind...430&nav=0,5
  21. I would toss in a pretty gal or two
  22. I usually have one in the truck with me at all times. If there is a micro in a bush and it's metal, that sucker is as good as mine! No shame, use everything at your disposal.
