  1. Wanted to share an idea and see if Groundspeak would consider it. I wish there was a way cache hiders could quickly check a coord and make sure it is safe and that way the coords can be good before a caches hidden. I know it is possible to check coords with reviewers but it would save time and make the system easier if cache hiders could quickly get even a simple yes or no as to if a location is ok prior to going out to hide the cache. Had a cache accidentally published prior to it being placed and naturally seekers could not find it. I'm sure it was just an honest mistake and won't say who published it because it is irrelevant and not looking to point fingers. Was an honest mistake but still made it difficult for seekers who were trying to find a published cache that wasn't even there yet. Think it would be good to have a way that cache hiders to check an area and not require more of the volunteer reviewers time who have lives of their own too. A feature to get a yes or no on an area would not aid in helping some cachers cheat on puzzles if it simply said an area was good or not and by how much. Would not require saying what cache was causing the issue. Volunteer Reviewers have their personal lives too and I feel this feature would only add to the game and help cachers spend the time creating creative hides instead of making a cache for one area and not have to change the whole cache page due to moving the area. Besides this, the real option is just to submit light to blank cache sheets to reviewers to check coords which seems like a waste of their time if a new feature could remedy the issue with little to no negatives.
  2. Does anyone know what happened to the ability to place puzzle caches? I went to create a puzzle cache where some knowledge is needed, but there is no puzzle cache option under the different types of caches available to place. Any help? - The Irish Man
  3. You are able to save them via your web browser favorites, maybe under its own folder. I like your idea, and it could be helpful. I agree.
  4. When setting up a pocket Query, it could be really helpful to be able to also limit a query by keyword/s. I know this can be done with just an advance search, but that is harder to use and actually find what you want. Pocket Querys are easier to use. (In my opinion) The Irish Man
  5. I am looking for some caches both with an Irish theme, and a treasure theme or title in or around Portland, OR. Do you remember finding some? Do you know what the title and or the GC# was? If you can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks, The Irish Man
  6. Someone beat Scuba to a cache, awe well. He can't be first all the time. Let's all "play fairly". Try at least.
  7. I have a Trackable Hotel outside of my home so I am always meeting cachers while they are looking for it. I haven't met allot of others while maintaining my other cachers, but. I really enjoy meeting other cachers at events. It is a great way to meet other cachers, and place faces with the logs you see.
  8. If you are up for it, I would help fix the cache, then e-mail the cache owner and let them know you fixed it. If it needs to be replaced however, it is up to the cacher owner to replace it, if the container it self needs to be replaced, and should be left for the owner to do. A cache that is that active shouldn't be archived or disabled if it is still log able and there. If it just needs a new log, anyone could add a new log and I don't think the owner would mind. Hope it helps.
  9. I was introduced to the hobby by a friend, went out and found a few caches and was hooked.
  10. It is definitely OK to revisit caches with tbs in them, I do it frequently, and even have queries ran to find the caches that do have them. It is also a good way to get cachers to visit caches. Some of us look for these.
  11. Generally there are other cachers who adopt caches, and they can often be found at events. Personally I would recommend that, unless it is a popular cache/very unique, I would suggest archiving the cache and removing the container so someone else can place a new cache for others to find. The only problem with adopting caches is that the more people find it, the less people there will be to find it in the future. Ie: Caches that have been around for a couple of years, but haven't been found for a while, have a tendency to just sit there and prohibit other cachers from placing new caches for others to find.
  12. Take a look at the tutorial zip file, it will give you an example of a cartridge, and possibly help you.
  13. Yes, it definitly is. I always enjoy seeing a new tb in one of my caches.
  14. I have never heard of Minute war. What is it?
  15. I think it varies depending on the area you are hiding it in. For instance, in Australia they make you work for every find. Some places have allot of LPC's, (Park and grabs). I like to hide them mainly in urban areas, but find unique places to hide them. Feel free to e-mail me if you have more questions.
  16. You can also use Gsak, a program that many people use.
  17. If anyone will be coming to Portland, Oregon on a trip, e-mail me for some recommendations on places and caches you would want to hit.

  19. Here are a list of quick questions. Please answer them so that cache hiders have a idea of what you like. Micro or Regular? Traditional or Multi? Mystery or Earth? In a group or alone? Hiding or Finding? Virtual or Webcam? Letterbox or Wherigo? Favorite GPS? Social(event) or not? FTF'er or not? Podcast listener or not? Out of state or In state? "Extreme/Hardcore" or Layed back? Urban / Rural? Hope you enjoyed these questions. As more people answer them, others will be able to get a better sence of the overall cachers. Thanks for taking this "quiz"!
