  1. i will admit that after driving over 500 miles over the life of this cache i wondered if it was there. but knowing ICW has a twisted side i knew it was there so kept looking. although we have not looked for a while we have not givin up. i just need to learn this twist the same way i learned troublesome truck... right ICW???? thanks for the challenge man.
  2. i am not sure there is a guideline or if it is a common practice. we are just wondering, is it kosher to revisit a cache and remove a travel bug and not log the visit in the cache's log???
  3. i have not found any 3rd party programs that work with this unit. except for loading caches and some menu issues i love it. i will try the first reply. thank you
  4. just got a full membership as a gift. i just cant seem to figure out how to load a Pocket Query through vantage point. still doing the old copy & paste one cache at a time. help please. thank you, capytone
  5. Yeah, you must be either doing some wild and crazy things with your GPS or you're using some pretty low quality batteries. We have a set of 4 Noma NiMH rechargeables in our 300 and each pair lasts us for pretty much a full day of constant use, with the backlight turned on the whole time. My only complaint about the 300 is the terrible basemap it comes with; just major highways over a featureless khaki background. Still, even with that, I would recommend it for a first-time cacher; 9 times out of 10, it'll bring us to within a meter of the cache, and the lack of topo features has led to some extremely interesting hikes, and some exciting terrain-conquering adventures. thank you for your reply jon&mona we have not yet used rechargeables. but now know what kind too look for. we have had to get in the habit of shutting it off as soon as we find the cache. capytone
  6. we got the magellan triton 300. when i posted here i ordered it i had a 50 50 good bad choice replys i am very happy with my choice. got it at walmart.com under $150 for the price i think its great. takes a lil time to learn puts me within 3 feet of coords.
  7. i asked about the triton 300 after i had already ordered it and got a 50 - 50 responce as to good or bad buy. been using it 2 weeks now and must say my only complaint is it eats batteries. 2 AA's are good for about 5 to 6 hrs of use. other than that it has been dependable and spot on for caches. i for one would recomend it for a first time GPS.
  8. http://www.lunarloot.com/ only 17hrs left on price
  9. we are so new to gcing we have only found them by map. but we're hooked. i posted on another board that ordered a triton 300 and was told... "Hmmm, you might want to check the GPS and Technology forum and read a bit about the Triton. To put it simply, it has had very poor reviews from a lot of users." even though it is on it's way.... did i make a mistake? thanks capytone
