  1. In addition, because I did not see the photo of it on Flickr, here is the souvenir for South Korea. This is the original art I won at a "mega" event. Well not mega as GS defines it but as "Mega" as Korea will ever have.
  2. Im talking about clicking the pencil icon next to the cords on the cache page and editing it that way.
  3. I can't find the answer anywhere! If i edit a puzzle cache cords will the edited show up in my PQ?
  4. The park Gov. Pat Quinn and Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced plans to construct the biggest urban park in the continental U.S. They will call it the Millennium Reserve and it's sole purpose is to attract "outdoor tourism". Watch the video and read the article and discuss!! [Link] Edit: [Link #2 With maps]
  5. Why does this matter? There are tons of things like this, for example Guam is counted as a country when it is a U.S. Territory. Same goes for Gibraltar, it is park of the UK but is treated as a country. I think there are many other things that time/money is better spent on then re coding this.
  6. Just what I was going to say. if you want to go for less money, go a few weeks AFTER carnival. I've priced it out every other month for the last 2 years. Prices get higher and higher and then drop off two weeks after the party is over. Edit: also take a photo of the log book so we can delete all the bogus finds.
  7. I ask in my earthcache to find a named rock formation in a cave. They know this because it is noted on the sign. For the answer is it acceptable or not to just copy the sign? Not sure if this meets the educational requirements or not. Not sure how much they can learn by taking a photo of the sign and then copying it into an email later.
  8. there would not need to be a time frame if they just would have given us real virts.
  9. 1. Yes 2. Yes (like an appendix) 3. Not so much 4. Most likely more like... 2. Yes (but not part of the PRC)
  10. don't forget to use the waypoint averaging feature of your GPS also.
  11. Love my ipad however the lack of a USB support is annoying. If I got the camera connection kit which is an addon USB port could i use it to get field notes off my garmin GPS? Any one know?
  12. I actually ended up publishing the first Challenge in North Korea which is in tribute to the only geocache published in North Korea. It lasted two days. Someone actually has completed the photo challenge! Links?
  13. If you visit Panmunjon in South Korea at the DMZ, you can take a tour that will let you go to the North Korean side of the line. It's only inside the building they use for negotiations and you don't get to go more than 20 feet across the line, but it is North Korean soil. I've always thought that would make for an excellent Virtual, and a cool way to snag North Korea. Too bad you can't do anymore Virtuals. Yeah I was waiting for virtuals to comeback for that exact reason. They came out with challenges instead so I made an offset cache. No ones found it yet though.
  14. Multi-caches and puzzles (provided you don't have to be a math wiz to figure out the puzzle). Normal everyday caches are just boring to me now, but then again 99% of the caches in Korea are micros -- even in the woods or up on a mountain. Makes me cry.
  15. last friday or each month
  16. The longest in the wold is here http://coord.info/GCRBP2 multiple countries! edit:Sarnath'd
  17. fine a nice family friendly place to hold it. A cool restaurant often works (no too pricy). Get several geocaching related items for prizes (give these out how ever you wish -- games, voting, random door prize, ect). make sure the location knows what you are doing. bring travel bugs for discovery. thats about it.
  18. Finds Turkey Egypt Israel Jordan Malaysia Indonesia South Korea United States (Arizona, Califorina) Hides Australia South Korea (In Development) Egypt (In Development)
  19. I think the root problem is their just is not enough reviewers. I can't believe that places like Japan don't have a dedicated reviewer. States need to be split up and more reviewers added depending on how active the community is. I think if they would have just further divided the globe and take on more reviewers then we would not be stuck with challenges (which my local reviewer said were "stupid") instead of actual virtual caches because the whole reason for make challenges the way they did was because reviewers were afraid of being swarmed with publish requests. Slim down the areas and get more reviewers and now everyone's work load is less and it is not a problem.
  20. Thanks Carbon Hunter, mind telling me the title and author of the book so I can check it out myself?
  21. I wouldn't assume that. Many reviewers, myself included, have made it quite clear that we have no interest in returning to anything like the 2001-2005 era when we were reviewing virtual and locationless caches. The pressures of that failed review system factored into the new design. So, what you are seeing with the flow of challenge submissions should give you a taste of what it was like for a reviewer back when people could submit those types of geocaches. I hope that any non-believers now believe what the reviewers have been saying on this subject for many years. It is no fun spending a disproportionate amount of one's volunteer time trying to explain to an angry virtual or locationless cache submitter why their listing doesn't meet the rules. In that case you copy and paste an explanation that the listing does not meet the guidelines (That GS can define how they see fit) and they need to re read the guidelines to make it work -- just like earth caches. Its a job and it does not matter if you want to do it if it is part of the job. If you don't like it then you can find a new job, you have that choice. For example: I really don't want to grade homework assignments but I do because it is part of the job and recently the school has forced the teachers to give and grade a new test in the middle of the year. Yes this is extra work but I do it because it is part of the job. If I felt strongly enough then I could find a different job. What it comes down to is tell them once it does not meet the rules and they have the option to appeal the decision. If it wins appeal then it is published if not archived. further more for each reviewer who would quit over this there is 100 who would feel his spot. There needs to be more reviewers anyways. I think that is the root problem. For example: I can't believe that Japan does not have a dedicated reviewer. The world should be split up into areas depending on how active the community is in that area. Counties (usa) up to whole regions like Central Aisa or West Africa.
  22. I guess I want to know why they spent so much money developing something new (and not as good) to replace virtuals (and locationless caches) when they could have just re-enabled them and spend very little making it so you could only make x amount a day. Spend the rest of the money drawing up detailed criteria of what GS defines as wow. That way it is not subjective, it fits the GS defination or not. If the cache does not fit that then the reviewer can say no. if the persona does not like it they can appeal to GS for a final no (or yes). I know many reviewers did not want to approved virtual caches but it really is not their say. The can always resign if they want, there are 100s of people more than willing to take their spot. This really could have taken like a month but instead it has dragged on for nearly a year with no input from the user base. When i voted to bring back virtual I thought id be getting a ghost icon not a man in a cape and i thought it would be for using my gps not kissing a frog.
  23. The open submission system is a huge problem! This needs to be fixed, get special reveiwers if necessary. Also the fact that no one "owns" the challange once it published is a big problem too. This makes it impossible to police bogus "fınds". When it comes down to it, the better solution would have to allowed the original virts back for users to make and locationless back for GS only to make.
  24. I am puzzled why ınstead of just lettıng old vırtals and locatıonless caches exıst they make thıs new abomanatıon that has zero safe guards from people uploadıng random cartoon photos ...
