    Cito Ottawa

Hye, Anyone in Ottawa interested in doing our local parks/playgrounds and any other littered area a cleanup? This Saturday is after all CITO day. colonelby
  2. My Sportrack map gets 12, but I've never had over 9 sats receiving/sending position info.
  3. Hye, I've noticed that there are several different short form words on logs. For example: TNLNSL, Took Nothing Left Nothing Signed Log. What short form words have you used?
  4. Hye, It's a bit expensive, but the long term effects on the next generation could be positive geocaching-wise.
  5. Ebaums World Hye, Ebaums world has a great collection of funny posters.... It also has other really amusing things.
  6. Hye, (It was the first cache I placed) My first cache lasted about a week. I went to check it on one evening and found someone had taken the cache and replaced it with a nice warm bag of their dog's stool. I got quite hyper and angry but no one was hurt. colonelby
  7. Hye, I was just reading in my local news paper that someone has invented an attachment for Nintendo's Gameboy Advance that allows it to act as a GPS unit. What will this mean to geocaching? Maby the next generation of young geocachers? What do you think? colonelby
  8. Hye, I was wondering is anyone has ever set-up a series of geocaches (multi-cache or other) and invited fellow cachers to race to the end. Each would pay a $5 fee and the winner with the shortest time would win the money from the entrance fee. Doese this make sense? Has it been done or is it possible? Thanks, colonelby
  9. Hye, I can't call it a nemesis cache (I've only just started geocaching a couple months ago) but I've gone to find this little bugger 4 times. First time I figured it would be an easy find, the coordinates led me to a muddy (really muddy) creek. I read the hint and all it said was that it was near the creek and 1,2 feet of the ground. So I ruined my shoes. Try 2,3 was the same as the 1st. On my fourth try I decided to walk up the side of the creek, sure enough, after 20 minutes of poking around, I found it sitting in an old rotting tree 1,2 feet off the ground. Anyhow, That's my story colonelby
  10. Hye, Nalgene? I was planing an underwater cache and one of these Nalgene Bottles would work?
  11. Cool "Dirt Technique". Do you mind if I try that? Anyway, Went to my local canadian tire hardware store and came across a new type of spray paint. They call it something like "A Textured spray paint", it is suppos to dry out and have the appearance and feel of natural rock, ground, ..... Has anyone ever used this on a cache?
  12. Hye, Bye the way, a really good hiding place can be just as good as an excellent camo job. It's true
  13. Hye, I've read a bit about glass geocache containers and I know the risks, but can anyone recommend a paint that sticks to glass and does'nt peel off after a while in weather.
  14. Right on, There's a cache so close to where I live and it's rated difficulty 1 or 2 and I cant find the thing! Everyone else can, AND THEY THINK IT'S SIMPLE! I guess I have a disability.
  15. Hye, There are some really nicely painted and/or (man) weathered geocaches out there. Got any tips for a nice camo job?
  16. Hye, What about using some weird math formula, m= (x1+x2) , (y1+y2) ( -------) (------) ( 2 ) ( 2 ) Midpoint formula for a line, could use that somehow.
  17. Let me say that again, I don't want to make cachers angry, this multi should represent a challenge. With random challenges and the occasional "out of the ordinary" cache locations. It may take more than a weekend.....
  18. Door one, Door2, Door 3: Which one will you choose? WRONG TRY AGAIN! D'OH!
  19. I'd be willing to maintain it for sure. I'd like to do something "out of the ordinary".
  20. I'm not using film containers, but that could really get someone angry. Your maze idea is good. I'll try to work that in to the multi. Thanks!
  21. Yah, I see your point. Still, do you have any ideas for annoying situations in a multi? Ex: Geocacher finds one cache and coordinates inside point to the other side of the river they're at.
  22. Hye, I've been planning a HUGE (HUGE) multi cache. I've got 20-30 containers painted-up in camo colours and I'm looking for ideas that could really piss off a geocacher trying to get to the end. I've got some ideas but what do you think? Share ideas.
  23. Yup, 16. Got my driver's lisence (G1) and life is good. (Nice choice on buying the sportrack map gps. Have one myself and it's great)
  24. Hye, Been caching for only short while but I found a cool Star Wars Y-Wing fighter model. It's pretty neat.
