  1. Another favorite (that has also made the news there) is GCKPPC (El Diablo's Treasure) and is located in Tombstone...Fairly easy drive-up but one of the most unique caches you will ever do.

    Enjoy!

  2. Depending on time/dates, I may be in. Sounds like fun.

I threw this out on our forum but thought I should put it in here also. I was wondering if anyone had any interest in starting up a softball team of Geocachers. I would love to play although I am not looking to coach or manage. Ya know I do realize that by suggesting the idea it makes you defacto manager but I really have no ambition other to play. My life is busy enough with my union, starting a business and trying to lose weight by playing some softball. I have still after a year and a half to hit 100 Caches. Anyway am I barking up the wrong tree?

  3. It's Crescent Supply Hardware...Great place for cachers. Lots of different container options as well as an assortment of ammo containers.

I am trying to get some ammo cans for the raffle tomorrow. any ideas where I can find some? with out mailorder

In Modesto there is a surplus. It's downtown. I don't recall the name but Deranja's know the name. It's about 3 blocks west of the DoubleTree Hotel.

  4. Going to try and keep the batteries warm this time around. And I agree, we definitely need to caching together again soon. Maybe a little bike caching...(So long as Judd can show me how to lock down the bicycles on the rack!) :)

    Hey Sanruft,

It is so nice to hear you are back out there again! We'll have to cache together some time. Now, don't let that GPS build the dust back up. :D

  5. Awesome Janet! Good to see you made it back out there as well!

    Tim

Camel680 and I dusted off our GPS's for a few hours of caching today...BOY were we rusty! We may have to dust them off a bit more often to keep our geo-senses in tune.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi you two! I beat you to the "dust off" and thats about all I can beat you too!

Hope to see you out in the field!

    Janet a.k.a. StashSeeker

  6. ...Should have heard all of the whistles though!! :anicute:

In Kenny's defense, he was at a fountain today (placing CVC Tag!!!). It was a dry fountain but at least he tried!

The power of Tag never ceases to amaze me; it can even get Kenny out into the fresh air!

Well I was hoping to get my yearly bath AND tag at the same time but it was really akward when i got into the dry fountain with my soap and no clothes on! :cute:

  7. Not likely the GPS's...especially when it is mutliple ones zeroing out in the same spot. :)

 WOW...Team Judd is back on the forums! :D Nice to see you back in here!

Some do need to actually take the coords, test them and keep redoing them until they get to about 3'. That is what I do. However, some times it is NOT always the cache owner. It can be the cache finder's GPS. I know for a fact that when I marked Balboa for Super Grrl I got down to 1'. There was something up with your GPS's that day. Not to mention all the power lines in the area. I'm sorry you were in pain. I hope it all gets better soon.

I wish I was available to go see what they have to say. Ok, no I don't. I will be caching with my buddy Blindbutnowisee.

  8. I'm not sure Tom, but I certainly was entertained (much like attending a sporting event) when you and Doug were tar and feathered!:wub::wub:

Wouldn't it be the other way around? It is the GAME, hobby, or activity (geocaching) that leads you the the SPORT (hiking to find a cache, racing to be FTF, etc.)? :):D
OK guys, here's the question to ponder for a while:

a] Is tarring a game or a sport?

b] Is feathering a game or a sport?

c] Does it matter whether you are the tarree/fetheree or the tarrer/featherer? :)

  9. Yeah, it certainly seems that way. In fact, I am going to be placing a cache or two (and archiving a few as well)...I am glad I am back in and I thank you guys for it!

CONGRATS to Sanruft for passing 1100!

Could it be...Sanruft back in the game? YES...I do believe it so! FINALLY! It's nice to see them back!

BOGA...give in to the dark side  You know you want to! Stop playing in the forums and use that time to find a cache.

  10. LOL! A golf team eh?? Well had I known that, we would have hit the links a long time ago!

I appreciate the golf tips...I will try not to nail another nail in the coffin!

And yes...as far as I am concerend, golf (and Geocaching) is still a sport! :)

Back when I was on a golf team, the coach pointed out that I was doing one thing really wrong in my game (it's not a sport mind you). He said I was standing too close to the ball... After I hit it. This is likely the problem you're having Tim. The other would be if you're so focused that you couldn't drive another nail in the coffin.

BTW, I read those farmer comments, guys. And I'll have you know I'm not Almond farmer. LOL

  11. ...As spoken by someone who clearly has never played the game of golf...If you can play the game without concentration, I would like for you to share with me your secret as my golf game could use all the help it can get! :(:(

As I was telling Greg earlier...Geocaching is NOT a sport. It is a game. If it was a sport, the pounds would be melting off of me. It's a game much like croquet, shuffleboard, etc... No heart rate increase, no actual exercise

If you heart anit racing, then you aren't doing it right. I define a sport as this... If you can do it with a cigerette in your mouth, it's not a sport. Bowling and Golf are therefor not sports. Geocachacing, when properly done, does not have room for such distractions. LOL

  12. I've got your back on this one Greg...It is definitely a sport.

I have heard that they may introduce Geocaching in the next Olympics! :(

You all call it a game, activity, what ever you want. Long live the Sport of Geocaching. Thanks Red for setting them strait. Is there anyone else out there that agrees with me on this? Judd, budddy help me out here please.

  13. Then you aren't playing the sport correctly Kim! I have a knack for turning a one-star terrain into a four-star terrain!

We worked-up quite a sweat yesterday caching in the hot summer day! :(

As I was telling Greg earlier...Geocaching is NOT a sport. It is a game. If it was a sport, the pounds would be melting off of me. It's a game much like croquet, shuffleboard, etc... No heart rate increase, no actual exercise no sport. Now if you actually hiked up in God's country to find caches then it could be a sport. Driving, getting out to walk a bit to find a container, getting back in your car and driving to the next one is not a sport. :(

  14. Tom, we all knew that Tag wasn't going to be archived....Bill would have never passed the torch to you had he thought that was your intention. :) That's why we all love you so much Tom...You are such a kidder!! :)

Based upon the above, and the desires of the CVC "gang" - I will not archive CVC Tag!!!

  15. Nice site Baker...I am used to checking these forums on a regular basis so now I just have to remember to check that one once in awhile. (sigh) I forget more and more the older I get! ;) ...What was I saying again?? ;)

I want to toss around an idea. I know there was a CVC web-site a while ago and it didn't really pan out. I'd like to have our own organization, the Central Valley Geocachers, like the Bay Area Geocacher have. We could use it to converse with other CVCers, set up events and other random things for the CVCers only. No membership fee is required, it free but you have to sign up for the forum.

LEt me know what you think. I threw together a down and dirty web-site to show people what I had in mind. We could edit it and make it what we want. The address is: www.cvgeocachers.com , check it out and let me know what you think. If you want to join just follow the instructions in the upper right hand corner.

  16. A) No, Tag should not be archived as it was grandfathered in and should be kept as long as Geocaching exists.

B ) Stockton to Merced and Tracy to Oakdale (or thereabouts) is reasonable. Those visiting this area still have the opportunity to find and place Tag. Fresno, Sacramento and San Francisco are all about the same range from the center and in my opinion, is out of bounds.

    C) Yes...However, why would it be taken out of the area if the boundaries are defined?

    D) I like the two-person rule...With regards to deleting the finds, it is a moving cache and one person finds it, one person places it. (and leaves a teepee as it is found).

    E) LOL! The tar and feathering has lived its course, but it is all in good fun so it really doesn't matter. And yes, it is adults playing like kids. (Then again, so is Geocaching!) Whether it continues or not, makes no difference to me.

    F) Tag has always been unique to the Central Valley and I know those with Groundspeak would like to see it go away. (I have spoken personally with some on this and have been told accordingly). It would be sad to see something that has been grandfathered-in disappear. So if you are not willing to take it on long-term Tom, my suggestion is to turn it to someone that would be willing to. (Although I am happy that you seem willing to do so!)

Just my one and a half cents worth! :drama:

Please post your thoughts on these subjects:

    a) Has CVC Tag!!! served its purpose? Should it be archived and forgotten?

b] What is a “reasonable” definition of the Central Valley?

    c) If CVC Tag!!! is taken outside the area (and left there), would you volunteer to help retrieve him?

    d) Do you think I should delete logs that don’t follow the “no group finds” rule, or the rule that says you can’t find it unless two people have found it since your last find?

    e) Is this “tar and feathering” routine just adults playing like kids? Has it lived it course? Or should it continue?

    f) Other comments or subjects.

(If you’d prefer, you can send me your thoughts privately in an email: photom@fastmail.fm)

  17. Thanks...Was out of town this last weekend.

Wasn't the weekend of the 23rd an option for the clan? If so, that would be ideal.

Hey Sanruft...it's nice to see you back on. Haven't heard from you in awhile. Back to the MEGA-RUN...when are you free?
