  1. it would be the same as all of the individual boards for each countie that are out there at the moment, the only difference is they would be brought together so can still have there local boards but also have the general boards that are relevent to everyone... eg tb, gc boards ect
  2. i had a look at the gagb, but is theres not just links to other boards?
  3. hi all, is there any forum that has sub boards for different areas of england? i know there are regional forums but these are rather small in comparrasion to this forum. If you check up the Groundspeak forum, america has different sub sections depending on the area. i have been giving it some thought into making a new forum with sub boards for areas of the uk as well as general catagorys like tb and geocoins ect... the advantage of this is you would be talking to people that are local to you and not from around the whole country or even world. can i get peoples oppinions on this please as i dont want to flog a dead horse and make somthing thats not needed/wanted. if the majority seem to be intrested in it i will give it a trial run and see how we go.
  4. thats understandable from you saying a buried cache... however im talkin about only part burried and so no difference then hiding it under a rock. the cache would still be found by moving somthing that was on top of it so no matter how much you dig for a cache thats not fully buried... u wont find it if its got somthing on top hence no a buried cache but a partly buried cache. i think i might put a cache like it out one day but make it clear that only the lid is to be removed and no digging is required as after all like i said before its no difference then finding a hole and covering it up.
  5. see thats the thing, im not talking about a compleatly buried cache, so there would be no need for the hunters to think they would need to dig it up. i understand what you are saying however i dont see how it would cause any problems if the cache was allowed to be partly below ground level. Im not talking about covering a cache compleatly with dirt, i just cant see how if its partly (say 75%) under ground and the rest above ground with the lid removable above ground would cause a problem. a final thought, whats the difference between finding a hole, putting a cache in it and covering it over with logs.... and putting a cache in the ground partly so only the lid is removable and covering it over with logs?
  6. yeah thats what i was on about, like a big tub where the lid is out the ground so only the lid comes off and the tub dont come out the ground
  7. what about a spoon but on a serious not... why cant we hide caches in the ground?
  8. i just read where it says you cant dig to hide, so what about if i find a hole and fill in around a cache so that no digging is needed to hide? would that be ok?
  9. ok now i know you not alowed to hide a cache where the finder needs to dig it up ect however is it allowed to dig a hole for a cache, lets say a 10L tub, and have it so only the lid is above the ground with say logs ontop of it to hide it. when the cache is found the finder has to just remove the lid and not take the tub out of the ground. is this allowed as the finder does not need to do any digging?
  10. ok im bonkers! i was thinking of Backhouse Park Stroll might see about putting a multi out in mobray tho as it is a nice park.
  11. i cant post on the cache page as cant find it to access the page. im sure it was in mobray park as im sure it was about walking round the park and looking at the sights in the part to get the cords of the finial cache... it was a mult cache. i hope im not going bonkers!
  12. hi, dont know if i posting this in the correct place but i went into mobray park today to do the multi cache there and when i did a search on my phone for it, nothing found. this cache has dissapired does anyone know what happened to it and if it will return?
  13. i hope i have posted this in the correct place, if not please move. Hi, im looking to buy a gps system to go caching with. Currently i am using my N95 8GB but would like a propper gps. I am looking at Garmins but dont realy know much about them or whats needed / whats not needed. If somone could give me some advice and let me know what garmin is worth getting. thanks
  14. thanks for your replys, yes the thermometer is still attached and working ok. I cant see how you can say its no more dangerous then a tree branch, after all it is a arrow with a sharp point to it. i am still rather new to geocaching and i thought you was not to put anything in a cache that if found by a child could be harmfull? surely a arrow could be harmfull especialy if a child found it and then went running with it to there pairent, triped and landed on it. im happy to put it back out there im just after peoples oppinions as i feel this tb goes agenst one of the rules of geocaching
  15. Im after a little advice here. I grabed a tb of my brother and now need to place it back out in the field however im a little concerned as to how safe the tb is. The tb in question is TBQ55K and it has got a arrow attached to it. My concern is that if kids find the cache it could become a potential dangerions weapon. any advice on this is welcome. Ill hold on to it for now while i work out what to do with it. <Tracking number removed by moderator, TB reference number inserted.>
  16. is there any thing people carry with them or wear that shows there a cacher to other cachers? i ask this as have been to some caches where there has seemed to be quite a few people just hanging about and so didnt do the cache. If they was wearing or carrying somthing it would then mean we could see whos a cacher and then work together for the find ect if there isnt anything has anyone got any ideas what it could be so that when out and about we know if were not alown feel free to shoot me down if its a crap idea
  17. hi all. is it ok to revisit a cache to pick up a travel bug or geocoin to move them on or should it be one visit and dont go back if theres a tb is it after your visit?
  18. Thanks for your replys.. i totaly understand about geocoins now.... so only one thing to do now, and thats find one!
  19. thanks for all your posts guys.. i get the idea now when ever i do trade i always make sure i put at least the same back in but i do try and put more in. Now that i know geocoins are like TB ill check any that i find. Are they easy to tell when you find one like a tb or do they just look like a coin?
  20. Hi Whats the deal with geocoins? i have read there collectable but does that mean you buy them to keep them or if you find one in a cache you can keep it if you want? Or are they the same as TB's where you just move it on?
  21. Hi, im just starting out in the world of geocaching and am looking to get my first gps unit (current one is built into my N95) I think i will go for a eTrex Legend HCx with a 2gb micro sd card in it. One thing i have heard tho and not sure of, is if i need to buy maps to go on it as well or would it come with all the maps (basemaps) i need to use it in England? Also would i need to buy anything else or would the eTrex Legend® HCx and 2gb card be all i need. If this is not a good GPS unit to start with please feel free to let me know what i should be looking at
