  1. "Protech" and "Invisible Shield" are two different (and competing) products. Which one are you referring to? Sorry about that...it is PROTECH.
  2. Bought a protech invisible shield for my Oregon and installed per the directions. The directions say any micro bubbles will go away in a couple of days.Well mine have been there for a week now. Anyone come up with a solution?
  3. I have a Oregon 400c that I bought for outdoor use(the price was right) can I delete all of the Marine stores that are in the internal memory(from the factory)and gain internal memory?Garmin says I can not do it but from reading the various posts here it would appear I can. If so how would I find that particular file ?
  4. I can assume that by it being "grayed out" that you are under : setup>main menu. Just simply touch sight 'n go icon and then the garbage can at the bottom, it should now be visible on you main page. Perfect thank you.
  5. My 400c has the sight and go grayed out...when you touch it it lights up but then you can do nothing with it? I think this was part of a Beta update but I apparantly do not know how to make it functional. ANYONE.
  6. It would seem we may have a problem in our Dakotas. I have never experienced this in any of my other Garmins.
  7. What you described is exactly what happened to mine except mine shut down after I had it connected to my computor. I hope this is not a sign of things to come.
  8. THE UGLY PART IS FIXED....after about a half hour session with a Garmin Tech we were able to get it going again. Something in the files had got corrupted and caused it to shut down.Something in the GPX files.Wish I could elaborate more but I am not that computer literate. It is better and Garmin Tech support is top notch.
  9. I have had my Dakota 20 now for 4 days:first the good: The screen is very readable in bright sunlight. I sold my Oregon because of that very issue. Accuracy while walking down a road was 22 feet and when I moved into some fairly heavy cover woods it dropped to 34 feet and I am very happy with that. This is a nice unit. The bad: the screen brightness with the back light could be better. It is not as bright as most of the other units I have owned . The UGLY: When I returned from my hike I down loaded my track into mapsource and the program automatically shut the unit down. I have not been able to get it to start up since. I have tried 3 different sets of battery's and still no go. It will act like it wants to start and will display Garmin at the bottom of the screen and then the screen goes blank. Bummer. Guess I will be calling Garmin first thing in the morning.
  10. Good review but the info on the screen brightness is of concern. The display not being readable in bright sunlight is the reason I sold my Oregon and it would appear I will have the same issue with the Dakota. I should have it in hand in the next couple of days and I will report.
  11. I just spoke to a Garmin tech and shipping will not be until next week. That is shipping from Garmin to there dealers.BUMMER I am waiting anxiously also.
  12. True, true. But doesn't the Nuvi macro work with the 60csx? As for terrain shading on the Dakota, I'm still not fully convinced it has shading. The picture in that PDF file from Germany is obviously photo-shopped as are many of Garmins product photo's. Judging from the information and scaling on the screen it appears to me to be a screen-shot from the Oregon line. A mistake by Garmin? Garmin's official website mentions nothing about 3-D view, which is in my opinion worthless, but may speak to the larger issue of simply not displaying DEM information. Is there anyone out there who had a production model to review who could speak to this first hand? I had a conversation with a Garmin Tech yesterday on a mapping issue ...he has had a chance to use the Dakota and said it had terrain shading but no 3D.
