How sloppy is the fit of the Oregon 600 in the Garmin clam shell?

Anyone have any experience with the GizzmoVest carry case on the Oregon 600 series.

The blue triangle that represents your location when on the map page (GPS Map 64S) is larger than the one that appears on a Oregon 600; has anyone found a way to place a smaller one on the Map 64S ?

Went for a hike today and had the track log on. Have done this hike before and the unit has tracked them just fine. Today the track log on the GPS showed 1.5 miles and on the map screen it showed the track but with gaps in the track. When I got home and downloaded the track to my computer (Mapsource) it showed the track as the correct distance and with no gaps in the track.The track (downloaded)was 2.1 miles as it should be but nowhere could I find it in the track log on the GPS.What the heck?????

Anyone having issues with the electronic compass on the Oregon 600? Have calibrated it twice and have not changed the batteries but it will freeze and not work or point in the wrong direction. If I go to the map screen and then back to the compass screen it will the work. Also loaded the update and no change in the behavior.

GULO when did you order yours? You are showing a price of $399.00 ? I was just at there website checking on my backorder for a 600 and it still shows 5-19 ???? Mystery solved Gulo is on the list ahead of me and will get his first. Lucky guy. yay OK, so it shows 5/10 on the website, but when I pull out my individual order is also still shows 5/19. I presume they just didn't update it ?

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE TEAM FOR SOLVING THE MYSTERY. The only thing that is puzzleing is Garmin support did not even mention such a thing.

I have the screen shot on my desk top but I cannot figure out how to get it into a post.

The top third of my screen is dark,shaded, ect. in some of the varios screens. Map display is ok but many of the other screens have the top third shaded. You can see icons in the shaded portion. This is something new I have never seen before. Pulled the battery and did a reset same thing. Garmin was no help but offered to fix it for $160. Unit has latest software and is less than 18 moths old.

I have a Nuvi 3590 and created a custom route on mapsource and Mapsource will not recognize the Nuvi so I can transfer it. Has anyone found a way to take a file created on mapsource and send it to BaseCamp so it can be loaded into a Nuvi? How many people find BaseCamp to be one of the most difficult programs to use as compared to mapsource? What was Garmin thinking? Not everyone is a computer geek and Mapsource was very intuitive to use.Sorry for the rant part of this ,I am just frustrated trying to use BaseCamp.

When using the shortcuts in my Montana 600(tracklog on,tracklog off,stop navigation)the icon stays highlighted until you go to a different screen.I can actually have all three highlighted at the same time. When you use an icon that takes you to a different screen this does not happen. Spoke with Garmin support and the unit they were using did the same thing so they were going to report it to the software people.I am not sure which sofware version this came with as I have the last update but it was not there the last time I was out useing the GPS.Anyone else experience this?

I do not post much here but read everyone elses opinion but on this one I have to speak up. I have tried to use Basecamp as compared to mapsource and Basecamp is NOT user friendly. Mapsource seems to be very intuitive as compared to Basecamp.

Created a track in Basecamp and changed the color of the track to red instead of the default color. I could not get it to load in my Montana 600. Called Garmin support and we figured out it is an issue with the track color. Changed it to the default color and it loaded up OK. The support person was going to report it to the Beta crew.

Add me to the not able to calibrate list. I have had a Oregon and 62S and no problem with calibration of the compass...I have screwed with this thing for hours now and it will not calibrate. The very first time I tried I was able to get to step three but then it would fail. Now I cannot get past step One. Funny(not) but this mirrors my experience with the Oregon that I had and I dont recall what the fix for it was but the problem went away.

Anyone know of a belt style carry case for the Garmin gps map 62 other than using the carabiner?

Within the last year there was a post on downloading what amounted to a blank background which improved the display . There were 4 or more different colored borders for differen tactivities(recreation,automotive ,ect). I have done a search various ways and get the Jackpot...can any one remember this and the link ?
