  1. I'm bummed. I never went to a block party. *weeps silently*
  2. I have a Motorola Triumph. I downloaded the Groundspeak app for Android a couple phones ago. I had to do a factory reset on it, and now all of a sudden when I went to reload the app on my phone, it wants me to pay another ten bucks for it. Every other time I had to reload the app, the price in the marketplace said "purchased" and I would load it. Why is it different this time? Has anyone else experienced this? John CowtownJohn
  3. I'm probably going to get somebody wound up with this, but I have to ask... When should newer cachers start hiding? Now I'm in no way trying to discourage anyone; new hides keep this game going. But when I go after a hide with the coords way off, and the CO writes and says "thats what we came up with" or someone puts a cache somewhere that has a sign saying "City Property, No Trespassing", thats pretty annoying, besides that's trouble I don't need. I think less experienced folks should have at least 75-100 finds. That gives them a good range to look at and see what makes a good hide or a bad one. I didn't do my first one until I had 150. The two CO's have a combined total of 13. One cache is disabled until the coords are fixed. I realize this will probably get me bad looks and unkind words, but it's frustrating to put in time and effort for a lot of nothing.
  4. I think the .1 thing is fine. I already live in an area that is carpet bombed with micros. I don't know that increasing the distance ia helpful, especially since I don't walk real good over distance, and gas is damned expensive. I try to put out good caches in parks; whether I succeed or not is up to the finders, I guess.
  5. Since coming to Texas, my favorite has been fire ants. Went for a cache in a bush last fall and found myself elbow deep in them. Didn't get too many bites, but enough to make me cranky.
  6. I got one out of a cache...thought someone opened up a new casino somewhere. I was apparently wrong...
  7. Waterproof shoes are a must in the Northwest. The best cache ever is your first one.
  8. I'm also looking for my first GPS. So far I'm considering the Garmin eTrex or the Venture HC. Oh, decisions...
