  1. I was going to reply, but I decided not. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  2. I haven't timed it, but it does take some time to lock in. Also, if you're moving while trying to lock, that'll make a difference, too. I tend to turn my Legend on before I leave the house, and while I am sitting in my car, waiting to go, it usually locks in. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  3. quote:Originally posted by The Yellow Dog:The Yellow Dog Project Well, I have nothing really to add to the particular discussion, but I really wanted to comment on your Two Stupid Dogs icon! That was one of my favorite cartoons, and I was totally bummed when they stopped making (and airing!) them. I even wrote to Cartoon Network expressing my grief. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  4. I have nothing personal against KP. From his cache logs, he seems to be quite the jolly person I'd like to meet and hang out with. However. When I search for "my closest caches", or whatever it is. The first 25 are cleared out. The second page contains mostly KP caches. I tend to avoid them, because they sound more difficult than I can deal with. I was eyeing up Vertigo for a long time, and heaved a sigh of relief when it was disabled I actually searched for two - Eternal Rest, but I messed up on that one. We went to search for Rotating Beacon the day after it was archived, and guess what? We had dated printouts! That lesson taught me to always double-check. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  5. So far, I haven't let the weather deter me. I can't say about the snow, tho. If it's blizzarding, I might put it off until the roads are clear. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.

    Forum problem?

When I am at the "main" Forums page, the right-most column displays the most recent topic title, and poster. However, right now for me, each topic something like this: [!# #l10n key="XSL_RE_COLON" de... (citrix_99301) Here is a screenshot, in case I'm not making sense: http://www.azog.org/forum.jpg When I go into the particular forum, it works fine. Indexing problem? ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.

  10. I crank IE's cache settings down to the minimum. This way, I don't have to deal with stale caches. Anyways, it's called "Temporary Internet files" in Microsoft-speak. From IE, Tooks, Internet Options, Settings, and lower the "amount of disk space" to the minimum (1mb). ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  11. I was looking at the latest find logs, and saw this: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=30716 Look at the entry for Nov 12. While this might be better in the NE regional forum, I thought it was a nice enough log to point out. They're not all bad guys, as sometimes seems to be the case... ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  12. I can see it: "You're hunting for a round clear tuperware cannister type container 7" tall with a sky blue lid marked Geocache in large letters surrounded and hidden by small stones" and etc... Perhaps you need to clear your browsers cache? ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.

  14. You know, when I first started, I figured this would be at least one hobby which isn't a money pit. Hey, a one-time $200 investment, some dollar store items, and off we go. Now I'm looking into buying an XTerra. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  15. Let's see if this works... ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  16. Were you at CO Springs the last time you used your eTrex? The manual says that if you've moved more than 600 miles since the last time you turned the unit on, you need to retrack. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  17. For what it's worth. I generally don't pay attention to the difficulty ratings too much. Unless the cache description explicity says special equipment is needed (climbing gear, 4x4, boat, what have you), I often blindly charge in. Here in New Jersey, that's Ok, because we don't have deserts or enormous canyons (at least, I don't think we do!). I think it's gotten me in (not serious) trouble several times. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  18. I originally was a Palm person. Having started with an original Palm Pilot, then moving up thru the various models and ending with a Palm IIIxe. Then I spent two years in the PocketPC camp. I first started with a Cassiopeia EM-500, then a Compaq IPAQ 3650, and then an HP567. I got tired of PocketPC, and am now back in the PalmOS arena. I now have a Sony CLIE PEG-T615. My next upgrade will hopefully be one of the ARM-based models, if Sony releases a T-style form-factor. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  19. If you've got a friend with a GPS unit (preferably a Garmin, since you have a Mag - just so you can get a wider range of accuracy between units - no Mag bashing here), verify the coordinates with both units. If they jive, I'd leave it. I've found caches with coordinates off by 100 feet, using the clues once it turns out obvious that the posted coordinates are not accurate. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  20. If (and when) you meet other potential cachers, how do you strike up the conversation? In these forums, I've read that some people say "did you find it?", but that could possibly be embarrassing if they're not a cacher. "Find what?", and how do you answer that? (that's a different topic). Not to be subversive or paranoid about "questionable activities" (Criminal!), but just in a brotherhood sort of way. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  21. quote:Originally posted by Ticklegrass:I'm running a 33Mhz Clie that is overclocked to 44Mhz for Mobipocket and it's still not great. If you've got $600 to spare you could get one of the new 200Mhz models, I haven't tried Mobipocket on these units but I'll bet it's a dream. What do you use to overclock the CLIE? I moved away from PocketPC's (an HP567) to a CLIE, specifically for size. Looking at the new 200MHz CLIE models, they seem to be getting big, now. I think I might avoid the NX60, until they release a model with the same form-factor as the T series. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  22. quote:Originally posted by BassoonPilot:Do they have metric hours somewhere in the world?) I think in Switzerland they do. Or at least, Swatch might want you to think so. 24 hours would be 1,000 .beats. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  23. If you plan on taking your CLIE out on cache hunts, I'd strongly recommend getting one of these cases. I had my CLIE in the leather slip-case, and I was afraid of getting it damaged. Now, this new case is made out of metal, and i don't worry. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  24. If you plan on becoming (or already are) a charter member, and using the pocket queries, get the higher rez. model. MobiPocket has a version specifically for the high-rez screen of the CLIE. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
  25. El Diablo, Your staff is VERY cool, and awfully tempting. The price stops me, tho. I have a throw-away stick which I found on the side of a trail one day. I've been using that as a staff... Bear & Ting, Is that thing like a roadmap, you'll never get it back together once you open it? ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him.
