I rebooted the computer, reinstalled the USB drivers and hooked directly to a USB port instead of the USB hub and everything work as its supposed to so which one fixed the problem I don't know for sure. Probably reinstalling the drivers.
Thanks very much for your help.

That probably means you need to reinstall the USB drivers.
If the computer recognizes the unit as new hardware, it should either present you with a wizard to install the new hardware, or after a brief pause it should either say your new hardware is installed and ready to use, or the new hardware balloon just goes away by itself. Are any of these what is happening?
I always get the new hardware message after upgrading MapSource. After the upgrade, MapSource won’t connect to the unit until I reinstall the drivers. You would think that this would be done automatically as part of the upgrade installation, but it doesn’t seem to be.
Even if that isn’t what caused yours, the symptoms sound exactly the same, so the fix is probably the same too.
If you get the wizard, tell it that you want to install the new hardware, select automatically, and tell it not to connect to the Internet. It should then search your computer, find and install the drivers. (Apparently, the driver files are put on your hard drive during the upgrade, but they aren’t actually installed.) After that, MapSource should connect to your unit. You may also have to disconnect the unit from the cable and restart MapSource; I can’t remember.
