Superimposing Your Tracks Over Maps On The Web
jan27jay replied to jan27jay's topic in GPS technology and devices
I think 10mi maps might pose a problem for a road trip that is over 6000 miles. What I wanted to hear was that something like Google maps has a feature where you can just upload your tracks, and it shows it as a route on their map, so that others can check it out too. -

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do I convert the track to a .gpx file? -
Superimposing Your Tracks Over Maps On The Web

I am leaving in a couple of days for a driving trip across the country, and I wondered if there was a website somewhere where I can upload my tracks somehow so that others could see on a map not only where I am, but where I've been. If anyone could help me out with this I would be very happy. -

I am takin a trip to California in a couple of weeks, and I am looking for some caches along the PCH. I was hoping to find a few virtuals that won't take much time. If you can help, please let me know.

I was checking out a friend's Metroguide USA yesterday to determine whether I want to buy it for a road trip I am taking in March from Florida to California. Two things bothered me. 1. Compared to the detailed maps in Metroguide Canada, the city street coverage is pretty sad. 2. Where I cross from the east map to the west map (Texas) there seems to be no way of selecting a map to download there. Questions: Is Metroguide the most detailed city mapping software? Is City Navigator better? I don't really want to spend the money to find out that it isn't. Is there a way to download Texas??? I am relatively new to this.

Wish I could help, being a former videographer myself. I would volunteer myself, but I am organizing a large tsunami relief fundraiser in Newmarket this weekend.

Fuji S2, but hey, I'm a photographer.

I've started a Newmarket Geocaching meetup group on meetup.com here Please sign up for the next one in February. Please let me know which day would work best. I have tentatively scheduled it for the third Wednesday of each month.

Then which Map Source product gives me the best street coverage for Canada, specifically southern Ontario?
-
Is there anything from strets and trips that is downloadable into the GPS? It claims "advanced GPS options".

Are there any other decent software packages out there, compatable with the eTrex Legend, other than Map Souce crap which accurately shows Canadian streets?

I am driving from Florida to Vegas and back again in March, one way along I-10 and the other on I-40. I'm looking for some virtual caches, possibly involving roadside attractions, but caches that certainly don't take us far from the interstate. Since I don't know the areas, it's really hard to search by zip code, since I don't know which zip codes are near the interstate. Anyhow, I thought this might be the easiest way to find what I want. Please help me.

Thanks. I believe the cache was placed there as a result of this thread. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

The Battery Barn sells the 2300mAh AA's online for $8.95USD, with free shipping to Canada. I just ordered 3 packs. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

Being somewhat new to caching, I have two questions that may sound very basic and dumb. 1. What is WAAS? 2. Where do you find a list of published survey markers in Canada? ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

While hunting one cache on Saturday afternoon, probably about 4pm, every time the gps told me I was within 10 metres of the cache, it suddenly jumped to telling me I was 120metres away, and in the other direction. I gave up after about the 5th attempt. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

Pardon my ignorance, but is it normal to see people standing on the tail of a helicopter while in flight? It looks suicidal. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

Unless I am mistaken, OVERT is a civilian organization, not tied to the government. They state on their web site that they have proposed to become part of CERV. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

It sounds like your heart is in the right place, but I'm not sure the police would want you tromping around through the woods near a potential crime scene, or...who knows, maybe right through one without knowing. If you go cache hunting, be prepared to be questioned, and don't touch anything that looks suspicious. Mark a waypoint and call the police. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

I saw that one, and I was thinking about it, but I just wanted to know if there was a specific place set up for the purpose I mentioned, as there is in most large North Amerian cities. I'd rather start a new one than try to take over someone elses cache to use it for a purpose for which it was not neccesarily meant. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

Most towns seem to have a cache near the airport specifically for TB's that wish to hitchhike around the world. Toronto does not appear to have one. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544

Thanks. If I do need your help still, I will let you know, but it looks as though I have two replies from Germany, so that will hopefully pan out. Thanks again. ________________________________ Jay Millington Millington Photography Weddings and Portraits 905-895-2544
