  1. If the maps can be loaded as an app, and that's what the Apple site seems to be saying, then I'm on board. I love my Iphone - which I paid full pop for the day it was introduced. Now I can get a new Iphone with GPS and maps for less than the GPS I was looking to buy? Yeah - I'll take one. I say again - IF the maps can be loaded as a app.
  2. Mine is the older unit - simply "etrex." It originally came with a serial cable - it has the proprietary Garmin four pin flat connector on one end and a serial (RS-232 I think) on the other end. I have seen cables like the one pictured above, which have the Garmin plug on one end and USB on the other. They seemed to be an upgrade, or perhaps an after market. Thanks -
  3. I have an etrex - just etrex. I would love to put one of your extra cables to work! thanks - pm sent.
  4. Thanks!! Looks like I'll have to keep an eye on Ebay - Amazon wants $30 plus shipping - or $20 used plus shipping. I only paid $40 for the GPS so I'll enter the coordinates by hand for now - I guess I was thinking this would be available from Garmin for $10 or so as part of good customer support. Oh well.....
  5. If that doesn't work out, try Craigslist. I just bought one for $40 about an hour ago. Go to www.craiglist.com and look for the city nearest you. I found mine under "Electronics." HTH
  6. Could you help me find a cable for an Etrex? I'm hoping somebody has one around from an upgrade, or perhaps you have multiple units, or whatever. Or - can I order this on line? I have been to Garmin.com but didn't find it yet... Thanks in advance -
  7. I have heard very good things about Garmin's nuvi series GPS units. Although I don't know if you'll be able to find a new/used model under $100, the nuvi 200 can be had for ~$150 on Amazon or maybe less if you shop around. I am just starting out geocaching - (actually Jeep-o-caching in my case) and I am looking at a crossover unit. Magellan seems to offer one, and somebody offered one for sale here but I missed it!! Anyone have input on that type of unit? It might be what you are looking for. Seemed to be sort of basic - but it has the added bonus of being a crossover. Take it off the dash of your car and go geocahe, then move it to the boat, etc.
  8. Bummer - too little, too late. Should be my middle name(s).
