  1. I have to post in quick reply too. It seems whenever I post on a ubbx board I have the same problem. I got over it.
  2. I'm pretty happy to be within 50'...besides the fun is looking for it right? I have yet to ever be right on top of it. That would take away the adventure in my opinion.
  3. I started a thread about this exact thing 2 days ago. I went to a cache yesterday that had 4 old golfballs, 2 obviously used finger puppets, 4 pencils, a couple of old matchbox cars, the usual crap. Now granted it was and olderish cache that had started out with a bunch of handmade India items, and obviously I knew they would be gone.....but did these folks really think what they left was equal to what they took? I have decided to start reading the logs to see what people T/L and am beginning to see a trend in my area. I have also decided to TNLN or leave something when it is looking a little bare. Also why not try ww.orientaltradingcompany.com. Great ideas for a good price.
  4. Psssst, Stunod, the he is a she and blonde. But thanks, even if it was free it is cool.
  5. Stunod left a GPS storage bag and I got it! That was my best find so far.
  6. If you don't like it don't take it. I am not personally interested in such things but it ultimately doesn't bother me either. I am offended by the "crap" people leave. Old golfballs, useless items, broken items, and the like. A home-made signature magnet is great because someone took the time. But lets all be more imaginative.
  7. Hey Stunod, Thank you so much. My GPS thanks you too. This is my most treasured find. You are my Geo-caching Hero. I have followed your posts and enjoyed reading your logs. Someday we gotta meet and cache together so you can show me the ropes. Right now I am sorta flying by the seat of my pants. Haven't fully figured out my GPS yet but every day getting better. But it is so much fun. "Centaur" is my buddy and turned me on to geo-caching. He and I know each other from a horse BB here in Illinois. Again thanks, and hopefully we will meet on a caching trail soon.
  8. I am not trying to be nasty, this is more meant as an FYI for all those folks that think leaving old, nasty, used up items as okay trade items. I think Matchbox cars in the package are great, especially for little boys. I by no means am saying that yu have to go out and drop a ton of money either. When we started my girlfriend and co-conspirator in caching- Duppy, suggested that I look up the Oriental Trading company. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them at fabulous prices, they also sell by the gross. I am also looking into getting some coins done as well as some signature items for Duppy and me to leave as I find them to be more of interest to us "adults". I just hope that those who are guilty decide to belly-up and be more imaginative. By the way, anyone who can find me some 1-2 inch tall Buddha statues that I could purchase inexpensively would be forever in my dept.
  9. I am a real newbie and am having a ball doing this alone with the dog, with my friends, and with my kids. I think this is a terrific way to get out and about instead of sitting on one's duff. I am not at all interested in trading trinkets, unless of course the kids come along. I usually leave one of my cute stuffed froggies even if we take nothing. My question is this, what is the deal with the absolute crap that people are trading with? Whenever I open a cache I usually have to remove all the trinkets to find the log. Used old golfballs, little flashlights that don't work, old rusted matchbox cars, absolute dreck. I have read all the threads about trading up but I have to say that it seems most do not. What a bunch of garbage. I realize that the trinkets are meant for the kids but people imagine how your kids would feel. I would say that 1 cache out of 10 my kids will trade. They must trade their own stuff. I think that if someone can drop a dime for a GPS then the least they can do is try to be a bit more imaginative with their trinket choices. I was out all day yesterday and decided to read the logs before me. What I realized was many folks traded stuff but as the log grew the folks took pretty nice stuff and left crap. Come on people don't be cheap! Think about the cachers coming after you.
  10. Travel Bugs Rock! I think they are so cool. Just reading where they've been and sending one back out is fun.
