  1. GPS Wristwatch Can this be worth the bucks? Team Canope

  3. Well, who is a member over at XOC? 2002 Solar Yellow. See you in either the mud or the woods! XOC name: Canope Thomas Team Canope
  4. I resize to 100 by 100 but no matter what I upload, when I logoff and come back in it says "no images available". WTF? Team Canope
  5. Here's a satellite loop link: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/satellite/animation.san.1km.vis.htmlSatellite image Team Canope
  6. Here is an interesting find. Coordinates are in the letter. Tree top boulder Team Canope

  8. I was curious as to the most caches found so I did a bit of searching. The first cache hid was on May 3, 2000. Today is Oct 24, 2003. That is a total of 1,270 days. I see there are some cachers with more than 2,000 finds. How can a person find more than one cache every day since the inception? Is it true? More than likely to find 2,000 would require travel of a hundred thousand miles, exluding the hike. Thomas Team Canope / A Handicacher! 9. I'm new here, with 2 dnf's and two finds. That gives me a batting average of 500!!! Thomas Team Canope / A Handicacher! "The bubbling brook would lose its song if you removed the rocks"
  10. I vote for the Streamlight Septor. Handsfree. I use it all summer camping, and being on crutches, it is a must. Under the seat of the Xterra, however, is a big maglight. Nice and bright for a club. Septor Thomas Team Canope / A Handicacher!
  11. The Leatherman gets my vote. Sure the Swiss pocket knives are nice, but a tool on the belt is great! I have both and the Leatherman wins every time. If it is ever needed, you can do some hammering and prying that can't be done with a pocket knife. Thomas (Who got a few free ones from Marlboro, in exchange for a touch of cancer) Team Canope
  12. I figured I'd reply to this since my Etrex cost $25 new. I did however need to take myself a few steps closer to death by smoking about 450 packs of Marlboro to get the 'miles' for the Marlboro catalog offer. Thomas Team Canope
  13. I have been thinking about my first hide. I will be using an ammo can with the large Geocaching sticker mounted on the side. The terrain will be one star, as that is my physical limit. To beef it up a bit, I was thinking about placing a lock on the can and hiding the key as a multi. Any thoughts on this? Currently batting .500 (4 tries, 2 finds) Team Canope
  14. quote:Originally posted by Stunod: As for your other problem. Why are you trying to convert the coords? You should be able to set up your eTrex to accept the format given on this site. Both fast typers! Why am I trying to convert? I really do not know at this point. I think I wanted to input the gps coords into the terraserver program but it will not allow me. The eTrex is fine and I am not trying to convert that. Is there a site that defines each type of coordinates in lay terms? Something my cat would understand? Thanks again! Thomas Team Canope
  15. I am looking at a cache in zip 18702, the Black Diamond cache. The posted coordinates are: N41° 15.155 W076° 02.589 This is exactly the numbers I type into my eTrex. Fine. When I try to understand conversions, I am at a loss, no matter how much reading I have done. When I go to the link provided to convert to nad27 at jeeep.com, the coords in mindec are 41°15.1548 by -76°2.589. When entering the coords in the eTrex, does the "0" in W076° represent a minus sign? When the same numbers are entered into terraserver, it says something about the long being negative or not being a real coord. When I try to enter DMS, there is not enough room to enter the digits. So, if I know where my home is based on the gps coordinates, how do I get a map from terraserver.microsoft of my home? Everything is fine and dandy using the gps, but everywhere else I go I am really confused. One more small question. What is the 'r' used here in GPSr ? Thanks for your help on this and previous questions, Thomas Team Canope
  16. Doing some surfing here, wondering where I can order pencils, calling cards and such? I can go to a local shop, but they will not have the geo logo's. I see a lot of great ideas here, it never ends! Thanks, Thomas Team Canope
  17. Bilder, AR15 vs M16...It does not need to be a fully automatic rifle to be considered an 'assault' rifle. If you add a bayonet, colapsable stock and a grenade launcher, it becomes just as illegal as the auto version. No one in our military has an assault rifle either. It is a homemade term used by the gun grabbers. Further, they are only illegal if the owner does not have enough cash to pay for a license. 18. Hi all, this is my first post. My wife and I went camping this past weekend in Tobyhanna Pa. I have been lurking this site for some time, not wanting to post before I picked up my Etrex. Well, I printed the Cemetery Cache pages and convinced my wife to go on the hunt on Saturday 10/03. It was an easy hunt and noticed others who had signed the log book on 10/03 also. I wish I had gotten into this hobbie years ago as now I walk with crutches and am limited to the easy finds. Is anyone else here handicapped? Any suggestions for easing the hunt? I can't wait to find and hide more! Thomas Team Canope
