  1. Sorry I didn't mean to confuse you. I use ranges because in my area, Denver CO, there are a lot of caches. Here is my website URL: http://geocaching.kicks-a**.net/Caches/ In the above URL please replace the ** with ss. This is what Plucker uses to generate its data. So the information that plucker shows is the same as what is on my web server. The Cachemate files are also broken down into ranges as well. Cachemate has a plugin that allows you to send and receive information to a GPS. This makes it easy to send waypoints to my GPS. I have most if not all of the caches in Colorado in my GSAK database. This totals up to over 1500 geocaches. Since my GPS's can only hold 1000 waypoints each I decided that this was the easiest way to manage the number of caches I have in the GPS's. Plucker and Cachemate show the exact same information, each just presents it in a different manner. EDIT: Had to add directions for the link to my website because the filtering software for the forum butchers the URL.
  2. TFTC = Thanks For The Cache
  3. I use GSAK to create Cachemate files and generate html pages. I break the caches down into distance ranges centered on my home coordinates. The html files are created on my webserver for access from anywhere. I run Plucker against my webserver to create the pages for my Palm M500. I then hotsync my M500. This gives me 2 copies of the information presented in 2 different formats. It also allows me to upload waypoints to my gps from my PDA when I go into a different distance range.
  4. Robert you hit the nail on the haed with your reply. Thanks Jeremy.
  5. Wow great minds think alike. I was posting the answer at the same time you were asking the question. The only other version of gpsbabel I have is 1.2.4_beta07242004. And it works fine. [edit]corrected typing errors[/edit]
  6. I just converted back to gpsbabel version: 1.2.4_beta07242004 I am still using GSAK 4.1.3 build=20 I am able to send and recieve waypoints with the legend using the older version gpsbabel. Tim
  7. Yes I disable USB. I intended to mention that but forgot. I rebooted but still get the same error.
  8. The USB support is working great with my 76C. However I have lost the ability to send or recieve waypoints with my etrex legend. I am using GSAK 4.1.3 Build=20 gpsbabel = 1.2.4_beta09082004-gusb It is gpsbabel that causes the error. This is from the window that windows pops when the error occurs: AppName: gpsbabel.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: ntdll.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.1217 Offset: 00033905 I have the associated file available that windows wants to send to Microsoft. I can send and recieve with the legend using Mapsource. It's not that big of a deal, just wanted to relate what is happening in case others have the same problem. Thanks, Tim
  9. Here is one that is now archived but started on 9/14/2001. * CANDLELIGHT VIGIL *
  10. I guess I'll bump this up one last time in hopes of hearing from the PTB.
  11. ReversePhoneDirectory shows this: The phone number "(316) 393-0242" is a Wichita, KS based phone number and the registered carrier is Sprint Spectrum L.p.
  12. This looks like a phone number to me.
  13. You can export your waypoints as a .mps from GSAK, open that in mapsource and upload via usb. Your 76CS should have come with Garmin Trip and Waypoint Manager that will allow you to inferface with your gps via usb. Thats how I upload to my 76C when I don't fell like digging my serial cable out of my geocaching bag. --Tim
  14. If you are using a batch file to call your .txt file you can put the following line at the end of it to delete your 'new.gpx' file: del "C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Desktop\new.gpx" Here is my batch file that calls GSAK.txt: Normally I comment out my del command because ussing the local copies is faster than using the ones on the web server. Here is my GSAK.txt file: I copy the .gpx files to my web server so that I can have access to them from my PC at work for use with GSAK. One thing I have found is that you do not need to unzip the PQ's you get from gc.com, GSAK will automatically unzip them for you.
  15. You need to use a standard serial connection between your pda and gps. I don't think your Zire21 has one. Check your owners manual or go to www.palmone.com to find out.
  16. I use that very antenna with my 76C. I purchased it from the same seller. I love it. It makes having the gps in the car much easier. I also modified my caching hat so that I can have the antenna in the top of my hat for those times when extra signal strength is needed. I have only had mine for a few weeks but so far it is working great.
  17. I bought an m500 on ebay for $25. ~$35 after shipping. works great. I had a spare 64MB SD card and threw that in it.
  18. Just looking for a reply from the PTB. Thanks
  19. Searched and searched but still failed to find the other post about this. Oh well locking this one. See this thread for the first post on this.
  20. Boulder is not happy with Geocaching. See the article here.
  21. This is still available. If anyone has an unopened copy of City Select North America v5 I will take that in trade as well.
  22. Nevermind. Never post a reply when you are still half asleep. Ignore this reply please.
  23. I posted this in another thread but it applies for this one as well.
  24. My wife and I just got back into caching after I had a severe ankle injury 2 1/2 years ago and decided that we wanted to go paperless. So I went on ebay and bought a palm m500 for cheap and the rest is history. On the PC I use GSAK, GPSBabel, ExpertGPS, and Mapsource. On the PDA I use Cachemate, Plucker and CetusGPS. For caching I carry a Garmin 76C and my wife carries a Garmin eTrex Legend(she doesn't like to carry the 76C, says it's too big). I use GSAK to seperate the caches into 'zones' centered on our home coordinates (0-20 miles, 20-50 miles, 50-100 miles, 100+ miles, members only and archived caches). Using the automation feature in GSAK I read the zipped PQ's and create webpages for each of these 'zones' on my web server. GSAK also creates the database file for Cachemate which has all of the above mentioned 'zones' in one file. I will be adding another zone(found) after we have logged a few more caches. The members only data comes from a seperate PQ that I run once a week as the .gpx files from gc.com do not contain this information. I have posted about that in another thread. After creating each of the above html 'zones' I create a .gpx file of the same zone for GPSBabel to use to create CetusGPS databases for my palm m500. Breaking the caches down into 'zones' allows me to keep the waypoint totals under 500 thus ensuring that I am not hitting the 1000 point limit in my GPS's. Not that I need that many caches but oh well. The above mentioned procedure takes less than 2 minutes. I direct Plucker Desktop to the above created webpages on my server for its data. Plucker takes about 5 minutes to complete its job. I then hotsync the pda to the computer and we are all set to go caching. Hotsyncing takes about 5 minutes. I use CetusGPS as it will send waypoints to the GPS's from the PDA. Granted this sounds like a lot of work but it is faster now than printing the pages of caches we might try to find on any given day when the urge strikes. This way also allows for more spontaneous caching than you can do with just printed pages. Less planning and more caching. So after the data from the inital PQ's were imported into GSAK I only need a couple of small queries to keep the cache information up to date and functional. Sorry for the long post. Happy Hunting. =-=-=edit typos =-=-=
  25. Hello, I tried searching but didn't find anything that addresses this specific issue. Was looking through my PQ .gpx files and discovered that member only caches are not designated as such. Would it be possible to get that added to the .gpx files that are produced by PQ's. I run a PQ that just pulls Member Only caches. It just seems to be a waste of server resources doing it that way. I ask this as I am converting over to paperless caching for use with GSAK, Cachmate, Cetus, and Plucker. None of these will identify a cache as Member Only cache since the .gpx file does not contain this information. I guess if this change happens I'll have to see if Clyde would be willing to modify GSAK to accomidate it. Thanks
