  2. The check boxes are for deleting PQ's. At the bottom of that checkbox column there is a little icon that will delete the checked items.
  3. I fixed the horizontal line problem on one of my Legends about 2 years ago and it is still working great. I used the instructions linked above. Here is the link to my results.
  4. Our first cache was approved this past Sunday at 8pm. Within an hour 2 members had found it. During this time there was a massive thunderstorm going on. It felt good to get it published. The waiting was torturous. Now we are waiting for our second cache to be approved.
  5. I don't even have the urge to collect geocoins but I would definately purchase a set. Could you please add me to the list.
  6. Awesome that's what I needed to know. I know my post sounds somewhat impatient it was not meant to be. I was just wanting to make sure I had submitted it correctly and it looks like I have. Thank you for the answers.
  7. My wife and I submitted our first hide 4 days ago and have not heard nor seen a thing regarding the approval, rejection or questions of our cache. When I read the audit log I am the only one that has looked at the cache listing. I have emailed the reviewer that does the majority of the approvals in Colorado but I have not received an answer(~22hrs). There is a link on the hide and seek page to click on if it has been 72 hours without approval or comment from the reviewer. The link goes to this URL --> http://Groundspeak.trakhelp.com/ This link is dead or not responding. I have seen others in this forum ask the same question and a reviewer has checked on things to make sure all is ok. In red on the cache page it has the following: Does this mean the cache is in queue to be approved? Is there a place that we can check where our cache is at in the queue process? Is there something we did wrong in the submission process and it is not really in queue? We want to thank the reviewers for volunteering their time. I realize that they all have real lives and that is far more important than geocaching. Since this is our first cache submission I just wanted to make sure our cache is in queue to be reviewed. Thanks, Tim
  8. I love micros and even the one nano cache we have found. My wife likes micros as long as they are film canister size or bigger. We love the hunt, if we get to trade once we find it that is even better. Our first cache is awaiting approval it is a small cache. We figured it would draw more folks if there is a trade possibility.
  9. Congratulations on 100 finds. My wife and I also found our 100th cache this past weekend. We were a little faster than you. It only took us 5 years and 1 day.
  10. If you have Windows XP you can use the Power Toys Image Resizer from Microsoft to resize images by just right clicking on them.
  11. That is truly annoying, TPTB need to add a note and a link to the profile page saying that this needs to be done after changes are made so they can take effect.
  12. Adding .html to the end of your urls only causes broken links, so that is not your fix. I will try and edit my signature and see if I can do it. My signature is not updating when I edit it. So either it takes awhile for the updates to appear or they are not being updated.
  13. Jeremys post in this thread indicates that there are two PQ queues. One for new never run PQ's and the other for older already run PQ's. It is the old PQ queue that is getting bogged down. In that thread Jeremy says he is going to allow us to "bump" our PQ's into the priority queue instead of creating a copy.
  14. Until TPTB change the current prioritization scheme this problem will continue to get worse. Here is my idea to change the scheme: Have the PQ scheme not "remember" so long. Limit it to remembering what was run in only the last 24 - 48 hours. Here are my tweaks of some ideas that I have seen proposed before on these forums. These don't necessarily change the scheme but they supplement it with additional options to get the data you want: Implement the option to download the results of the PQ immediately from the website instead of generating the PQ and then emailing it. It has never made sense that the only way to get the PQ results in 1 file is to have them emailed to you. This way you could lower the strain on the PQ server. Generate "pre-generated" PQ's for all states and allow the ability to download one state per day per account. These PQ's could include all but permanently archived caches. They could also include the last 25 logs for each cache. You could then use a third party application to tweak the caches for your needs. Generate "pre-generated" PQ's for all states that include just the caches that have been published/updated/modified/archived in the past 72 hours, these could have all logs for the past 72 hours in them. Limit the downloads to 3 per day per account. You could then use a third party application to tweak the caches for you needs. Change the limits from 5 daily PQ's with up to 500 caches each to 2500 caches per day using up to 5 PQ's. This could allow the PQ system to be even more flexible. This way might help reduce the number of PQ's needed to be run by each person.
  15. My husband (the other half of the "Team") and I have been cachers since July 2001, and have less then 100 found caches and zero hidden. Why have we not hidden any yet? because we haven't found the right spot that has inspired us to place a cache. Now grated we have a TON of containers and such that we have been collecting for the last 5 yrs, but for us the right spot is very important, because we mostly do our caching during the summer months, on weekends and early in the morning (starting about 6am). Some day we will find "our" spot and will be amongst the many other cachers who have hidden a cache. Until then we are just searchers on the mission to find the caches already hidden.
  16. This is the basic question that is asked of almost every Member that starts a thread stating that their scheduled PQ's are not running as scheduled. This is especially true for Members that schedule daily reoccuring PQ's. This thread will also allow the TPTB to see why running reoccuring scheduled PQ's is so important to some. I have come to the realization that TPTB do not see a problem with their current PQ prioritization scheme so I no longer schedule reoccuring PQ's. I just run copies of my needed PQ's. I believe that the run history retention of the PQ prioritization scheme is far too long. I think it should be limited to 24 - 48 hours. I used to run a daily PQ because I was on dialup & there are a lot of very active caches in my metropolitan area and it was nice to read the logs of many of them on a daily basis offline using GSAK instead of going to each webpage and tieing up the phone line. If PQ's had more than 5 logs in them, daily scheduled PQ's might not be needed as much. An option to select how many logs we would like included in the PQ would be nice. Let us choose 0,5,10,15,20,or 25 logs to be included in our PQ. There are some very active caches that are logged more than 5x between PQ's. In reality it does not matter what the reasons are for scheduling reoccuring PQ's.
  17. Or you can let google handle the searching.: goto www.google.com or you can do the same thing in the google toolbar if you use that in your browser. and type in your keyword(s) followed by a space and then type site:forums.Groundspeak.com. Here are 3 that you can try: gps site:forums.Groundspeak.com pda site:forums.Groundspeak.com gps pda site:forums.Groundspeak.com
  18. I doubt this will be addressed anytime soon, as TPTB do not see a problem. It is working as they want it to. Please remember that earlier in this thread the TPTB indicated that those us that percieve a problem are just too impatient to wait. TPTB have already blessed the work around for their ill conceived PQ prioritzation scheme and they see nothing wrong with it. Their game, their rules accept it and do not question it. The work around for those us that are too impatient to wait is to create a new copy of the query we are trying to get run. Schedule it for today in a few minutes you should get the PQ in your email. Don't forget to delete the copy PQ so it doesn't take away from the 40 total PQ's you can create but not run on any sort of reliable reocurring schedule. As time goes on this work-around will cease to function as well. There will be far too many PQ's for the PQ machine to handle. Until this gets fixed maybe they should disable the ability to schedule reoccuring PQ's.

  20. For Firefox users: If you are using adblock or adblock plus add the following line to the adblock/adblock plus filter list: @@www.geocaching.com/seek This whitelists "www.geocaching.com/seek" and will allow the caches to be viewed.
  21. Ever since I joined the Army in 1983 I have loved the Official US Military Tritium Lensatic Compass It is very durable and works well. It is well protected while not in use.

  23. I either wear Keen Targhees' or Keen Newports in the summer. Mostly it depends on terrain and temperature. Both are water proof and the Newports can be thrown in the washing machine with a load of laundry. I have found that socks can make a big difference in how well your shoes perform. So when I am wearing the Targhees I also wear Adrenaline Multi-Sport Mini Crews from SmratWool. These socks are awesome. In the winter I wear a nice pair of Danners I have had since my days in Alaska in the Army.
