  1. I'm just going to site aside and see what happens here, but I think that with all the confusion Waymarking may need to be nuked and restarted. I put in two Ideas I had been waiting years to add as a "Locationless Cache", It appears I'm already too late here at Waymarking also
  2. There are many abandoned roadside attractions. These could be Bungalow Hotels, Gas Stations, and other failed businesses. There are many of these on Route 66 and other now less traveled Highways. These abandoned sites usually represent the broken dreams of a person or family that invested everything and ultimately lost it all. It would be nice to document these sites of Americas auto travel history.
  3. Often I see an abandoned road paralleling the new road or the old route has been abandoned to eliminate a part of road difficult to maintain. There are good examples of this on HWY 101 where the new route now goes through a cut in a ridge in order to bypass a cliff that would crumble under the Old route. Another example is HWY 46 in California. The abandoned route is visible in a field and somewhere along that forgotten road is the spot where James Dean died. HWY 50 through Nevada has many Old sections that are abandoned. I often imagine my Grandfather driving his Buick on the old route. I think this would make a good category as it will start a list of these forgotten pieces of pavement history. I would encourage people wishing to log a find to enter a date the old road was abandoned.
  4. How do I make a new catagory for Waymarking? I've had two ideas for locationless caches that I have been saving for years. I can't seem to find a link on the Waymarking site to start a new catagory.
  5. I store my way points with a date such as 041011. 04 being the year, 10 the month and 11 the day. Using this system the waypoints stay in order by date. So now I have "041010pitstop" save for the cache called "Pit Stop" and the day I found it. For multiple caches found on the same day I add a sequntial letter behind the last number. I've never found more than 26 caches in a day so the letter works fine for me.
  6. I have part ownership of a cache (GCJXBN) that got someone frightened enough to call 911. I wasn't there but the other owner was, he lives nearby, and was fortunatly able to stop a call to the bomb squad and the FBI. The officers involved once they knew the situation was harmless were actually a little embarassed. Has this ever happend before? We're going to put a geocache sticker on the cache but it is still a small cylinder wraped in cammo tape. Will a geocache sticker be enough?
  7. I didn't see that option for purchasing TB's. I am a premium member; do I need to search elsewhere to purchase Travel Bug's?
  8. how do I purchase from Geocaching.com
  9. Servers. Are they're plans to upgrade the servers? I put aside most of today to geocache, What better thing to do on Easter? anyway the server has been too busy, No geocaching for me today , can't even get past login . Just the following frustrating message . I include the message which I'm sure you're all aware of only because just maybe somebody can tell me I'm doing something wrong that can be easily fixed on my side. 10. OK I'll go along with that, A virtual needs to be significant
  11. Things I wonder about: Will the moratorium on location less caches and virtual caches be lifted? Could another site be developed in parallel with the main geocaching site to cover location less and virtual caches? I guess the term "Cache" doesn’t really apply, maybe call it something else. Location less caches are fun and sometimes a neat gathering of information about a topic if done right. Virtual caches also can take the "player" on a nice tour of places not normally visited. I've been to virtual caches close to home to a place I didn't even know existed. Still Virtual caches have to be done right to have a purpose.
  12. On the old My Cache Page, it's easy to scroll through all previous found caches. I like that option as when I return to an area, I can look up a cache I've already found and quickly look for addition caches. Is there another way to do this with the new My Cache Page (Which only shows last 15 posts) or should I just stick with the old My cache page. PS, please don't remove the option to view the old My Cache Page, that would cripple me and the way I use geocaching.com Also, it seems that it is really hard to locate the list of location less Caches from the geocaching website, what’s the easy way? st.brendan Oh yea, What button do I depress to reply to a post hear that doesn't automatically quote the original post? Sometimes I think I'm a moron.
  13. That may be true but there is a current moratorium on locationless caches. Figures, There is always a moratorium on any cache Ideas I have. I think there should be a moratorium on boxes full of junk.
  14. I'm thinking this would make a good locationless cache
  15. I'm thinking this would make a good locationless cache
  16. Pschtyckque, this marker is about 3/4 of a mile past Cleo's bath. It will be covered with snow until about mid March and you can't get across the river until about July.
  17. I already know it doesn't. The closest geocaching benchmark listed is over a mile away at the top of a ridge, the one I'm talking about is at the bottom of a canyon.
  18. I should add that the marker shows up on the "Topo Zone" maps as a little x or t
  19. OK that is what I was thinking of doing, transfering each post, there are only about ten, the other person does not geocache.
  20. I know where there is a benchmark type disc on a rock in a very hard to get to place near Pinecrest CA. I don't know if it says "Benchmark" on it would that even count? Near as I can figure it might have been part of a study for another dam above pinecrest lake.
  21. For a short time I had another geocache name with a partner, no sorry to say I'm on my own. can I move those found caches to my new geocache account?
  22. Thanks Droosa, I will send the TB's owner a message. Maybe if enough people do this we can eliminate some of the problems with TB's. Really frustrating, I'll be in seattle for another week, and I want to take a TB back to California but I can't find one.
  23. How can I log in th TB log that a TB is missing? How can I tell is a TB is still in the Cache? I traveled pretty far today to pick up a TB with a mission I could help with and it was missing.
