  1. you are mad! with tons of willpower! my hat off to you sir do you have rope in the trunk now?
  2. why wait till then? will the 100th be guaranteed more fun? nah, enjoy yer 12st cache because its yer kids birthday yer 15th because thats how many years youve been together yer 28th, coz thats TODAY yer 100th becoz you picked a good one to hunt yer 5001th becoz its the first one from a new cacher who lives just 1 mile down the road
  3. one candle in the darknesswith a little luck its flame will light up some more candles.
  4. a few hours? the day i enjoy putting "a few hours" in a puzzle to get me to a cache is the day I sell my GPS, my hiking shoes and buy a puzzlebook. TO ME, most of these "few hours mistery" makers are people wanting to show off their smarts rather then letting others enjoy a good cache. why not make it a traditional, with the puzzle optional and have the results of the puzzle emailed in, then everyone can enjoy the cache. and you get teh added bonus of actually seeing who you outsmarted. cant log a "did not solve". but some folks love it. so hide what you like to find... or solve. I just hope that misery cache that gets found every once in a blue moon isnt preventing someonelse from hiding a traditional in that brilliant location. thats my personal opinion. then again, i guess its one way of still be caching trying to solve these puzzles when snowed in and then wehn spring comes you go out and get the cache. until then, im not selling my GPS or boots.
  5. the Easter Islands... that would already mean we'ld be on one heck of a trip! but we've been close
  6. i tend to leave the GPSr on the spot for 5-10mintues and then pin the coords I'm using a Garmin Colorad300 other GPSrs have "averaging" function
  7. if you are lucky the "price" is the experience of getting to the location and the surroundings itself. dont expect (too much of the) stuff in the cache aka swag.
  8. just make sure its a puzzle you want to be solved rather then "stun" the caching community with your cleverness.
  9. great innit! welcome !! remember the fun YOU and the missus have during caching!! very important!! follow the guidelines, stick to the rules and do what you feel is right. just keep having fun your way !! FUN!
  10. WOW impressive list and great items! what inspiration!
  11. when you got that many finds i guess the thrill of the find wears off and FTF is the next best thing. i went after an FTF once, 9 hours after it got published i figured : if nobody wants the FTF ill get it myself. i got there 30mintues too late for FTF and felt bit guilty about riding out for just one traditional micro at a chapel ... so continued for a second find in the area just to justify the trip and fuel cost a bit more. havent "rushed" out since. dont talk or get all excited about FTF while yer kids are around and they wont give a hoot. one good thing about FTF : the cache owner gets confirmation the cache is findable.
  12. cheers for the update so it has evolved... pitty i didnt know this 3months ago when i bought a Colorado and my cellphone got fried so had to replace that as well ...
  13. these state iphone uses cellphone signal to triangulate position rather then GPS http://gadgets.fosfor.se/iphone-positioning-application/ http://www.gpsbusinessnews.com/index.php?a...&numero=603 http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-o-k/2682343641/ http://technology.slashgeo.org/technology/...3/0440258.shtml could have evolved since tho.
  14. live precipitation radar http://www.meteox.be/h.aspx?jaar=-3&soort=meteox3uur and http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/ very good stuff there
  15. yes, carefull with batteries take at least 2500NiMH ones, or higher at the start i used the 700 -.- NiMH i got free with the unit. switched off for no reason, you could see the screen bleed out. now i use GP Power 2700NiMH ones and no problem.
  16. and they are surely attractive!!!!!! loverly :-)
  17. ive been told the iphone positioning system relies on the reception of EDGE signal (cellphone signal, not satelite), with that it triangulates your position. so no cell reception = no positioning you cant phone home to tell folks yer lost :-) LOLZ
  18. no email received from you RR yet. but I did some searching and finally get the picture PM sent. remember this: 1. when you get on the bike you become invisible. anticipate. 2. corners and bends : better slow in and fast out, then fast in and never out. 3. david & golliath is a great STORY 4. every off hurts wallet and/or body 5. the accident is 10% the pain, scrubbing the road rash out is the other 90% 6. wear protective gear on the bike: ankles, knees, hip, elbows, hands, back and yer noggin. 7. nobody uses indicators, anticipate 8. drivers brake for no reason. anticipate. 9. you braking in front of them is not always a reason for them to slow down. anticipate. 10. greet other bikers, regardless. that got me safe thru 150.000km riding
