  1. How do you put clickable smilies on your page or find .
  2. I have not been at this GEOCACHING long, I guess about a couple of months, but in my searches I found that the Letterbox cache was the hardest. I have found several caches hidden by expert Geocachers that others did not find but my hardest hunt was a Letterbox Cache. The hide was less then 2 miles from my house but unlike traditional caches it did not give exact co-ords, you had to do research and on His cache page you had to figure out a riddle to be able to go on an online hunt which when, if you reach the end ,the co-ords were there, and then hunt is a a easy one. I fought this one several weeks before I realized that half the hunt was online.I was trying to be the first finder and when I did figure out the riddle online I was a day or two late only to become the second of two finders to date. If you are ever in upstate SC around Anderson, the Electric City, be sure to try the Scarlet Letter Cache, but remember half the hunt is online. What was your hardest? Thanks and good hunting, Jeff24
  3. What if online its showing a TB at a cache but the last four or five logs says it is not there.Who can remove this bug from being listed on the cache page . Jeff24 I guess the reason I would to know , is I found a cache today that in the last three or four logs said the TB was not there. I can verify it is not. So why does the page keep showing a TB there.
  4. I am sure there are plenty of caches across the country that can be listed as the best, some physically difficult, some mentally difficult, and some just a challenge to figure out. I am new but I vote for (Scarlet Letter Cache) a letterbox in upstate SC. Only two finders to date and I am one of them. Jeff24
  5. I have a Garmin E-Trex Legend and my reception of sats. is great, within a few feet of my find. Dense tree cover in the summer throws mine off but I been geoing just as fall started and can walk right up to a hide, so my point is sat. reception around North East South Carolina on my Garmin is good and can only get better with a new and improved one going up. Just my opinion. Jeff24
  6. I guess I prefer real caches over virtuals but both to me have about the same challenge. The hiding of a real cache to me takes more time and thought ,so I guess thats why I prefer them. But my best find so far was a Letterbox cache, that drove me crazy for about a month.I knew the general area it was hidden in but without solving the puzzle I could not get the co-ords for the find. Finally, with a little help, I crack it and became one of only two finders of the cache to date.(Missed being the first finder by two days.) If you are ever in the Anderson, S.C. area try the Letterbox cache (Scarlet Letter) by Chipper3 it is cool. But keep in mind half of the hunt has to be done online. See you on the hunt, Jeff24
  7. I got a GPS when I bought my boat so I could always find my way back from fishing. When I wasn,t fishing I wondered what else would the GPS be good for. I found a site that was about what you can do with a GPS, one listing being the GEOCACHE site.Another interesting use listed was to attach it to your wife car to see where she goes when she leaves the house. I decided to try geocaching and now I am really addicted. Besides I don't think I really want to know where she goes, kinda like that song (wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then) Anyway geocashing is a blast and thats how I got started. PS Another interesting thing to do with your GPS is attached to your outside dogs collar and see where he goes at night.
  8. Now, that does sound interesting. I think I will work on something like that. Thanks Clown knife, Jeff24
  9. I bought a GPS for my fishing adventures about three months ago and just happen to find the Geocaching.com site. I thought ,this seems pretty cool ,so I tried to find my first cache. I did make the first find but the next two were a little harder, one being a mystery cache and the next being al letterbox ( which was real tuff, but fun and rewarding). The owner(Chipper3) of the two ,which I have never met, has been a great help to me getting started in the sport. I E-mailed Him after making finds of His caches to get help on getting started. He said to try all aspects of the sport such as finding, hiding, regular cache, micro, mystery and so on.His seem to be more on the difficult side but ,Hey I cut my teeth on a couple of tuff ones. Now, to get back to my question Is geocacheing addicted?I think it must be,since getting started three months ago I get up in the morning thinking where to go to find my next cache or if I should find a good place for a cache to be hidden.I am off to a decent start with 24 finds,6bugs,1geo coin ,own 4bugs of my own,and have placed a cache of my own with plans for a couple more. Now tell me, I am addicted or what? Jeff24
  10. I think it was cool what the little guy was doing, but I agree with some of the other posts that this could be riskey for the little ones. Let the younger ones cache in, but the adults trash out.Just my opinion,Thanks, Jeff24
  11. I don't know if I am a lurker or not. I have posted about 5 or 6 post recently, but at first I just came to the forums to see what other cachers are doing. I am a new cacher with about 26 finds and 1 cache that I placed. I own 4 Travel Bugs now and trying to just get in to all aspects of the game. I think the only reason I came to the forums was things slowed down in my area of the country and I wanted to know what was going on elsewhere. I think I am addicted now and would rather be out hunting then on the forums,so with that said I think I will expand my horizons and go hunting. Thanks,Jeff24
  12. I go along with swifteroo reply, if the Bug is sitting there then get it on the move.I am kinda new at this but I do alot more hunting and finding of cache in a three state area lately then anybody eles in the area, so I want to find caches I have not found but I think it's perfectly alright to re-visit one with a bug to move it along. I own four Bugs of my own and hope some one with the same feelings would do the same with my Bugs. Thanks,Just my opinion, Jeff24
  13. I agree with the fact , if it is public land, city or park, why do we have to ask permission. But Privite, State,or Federal land , yes PERMISSION is NEEDED. If you don't get it , good luck. JEff24
  14. If it is a E-Trex Legend You are in good shape. You can down load from a site or put the co-ords in your self like I do and it works perfectly. I don't know too much about the lower brands but the E-TREX LEGION was made for GEOCACHEING JEFF24
  15. I guess about half of my finds were alone. I rather have someone with me but my kids are grown, the youngest has gone a few times, and my wife has a part time internet business and I can not drag her away from her computer. She did go with me on six of my finds only because we were on vacation and she did not have her computer. I think it better if people go together or as a group, since a lot are hidden close to parks and playgrounds. Oh well, just my opinion. Jeff24
  16. If you don't mind going up a little in cost the E-Trex Legnd is excellent for Geocaching with, 1000 user way points, 10000 active waypoints,125 user waypoints per route, 750 active tracklogs, plus it comes with basemaps of North and South America and , a data cable for computer download. I am new at this and E-trex Legend really put me in the game. Jeff24
