I prefer not to say it... only log it.

Imagine being the owner of the worst rated cache of a City, Local, or State. I suppose that would make one rethink ones hide style. Agree. I know I would pronto.

KILLER GEOCACH (PLEASE READ!)
mfamilee replied to geocache_princess's topic in General geocaching topics
I'm having trouble understanding why this guy was so angry. Makes me wonder if something weird, unlawful, bad, etc... was happening at this gravel pit. This situation would also have me very spooked. Thanks for sharing. We all need to beware of our surroundings no matter where we are at. Kwazy people everywhere now these days. I watch way too much news. -
Anyone ever find Cremated Ashes?
mfamilee replied to HarmonicaHead's topic in General geocaching topics
So, it was obviously not the mother's wishes for her cremated remains to put in tupperware and added to the hobby of geocaching. That's just plain sad & disrespectful of the person/her child who has her remains. (IMO) I can understand not being able to afford her burial, but I agree her ashes could have been scattered in the cemetery she wished to be in. If this really is the 'true story' it makes me very, very sad. I'd rather donate some money for her burial than to know her ashes ended up in an ammo can. -
That's great to know they were able to help you so quickly. Good luck to your new TB. May it travel many miles & see lots of interesting sights.

I've noticed this too... done not only by newer cachers, but also by some who are well into higher number of finds. Why is this happening? I have no clue.
-
Or you can keep it & admire it as if it was the real thing.

Gosh, I didn't even know this was possible. I learn something new everyday. I don't think adding it to every cache is necessary. Sounds like it would do more bad than good.

KILLER GEOCACH (PLEASE READ!)
mfamilee replied to geocache_princess's topic in General geocaching topics
I'm curious now to read what happened. Missed the 1st edition when it was still posted. Hope you post it again when its ready. - It looks like you forgot to log your 1st find when you picked up the geocoin. You wouldn't want to forget your smiley. -
Newbie Question About Purchased Activated Geocoins
mfamilee replied to DragonflyTotem's topic in Trackables
Actually there isn't any obligation at all to keep the previous logs. If they are deleted then the person who discovered it gets an email saying it was deleted and some have gotten mad about that when it happens. Some say the previous logs give the coin a history and a flavor so to speak and others say that with new ownership they want it to start anew. However, there isn't any obligation at all to keep those logs. The coin is the new owner's to do with as they please. Perhaps obligation is too strong a word. Since we depend on the community to assist our travelers I wouldn't recommend casually deleting their log and stat credit. Unless you want an angry mob of cachers knocking on your door. -

Newbie Question About Purchased Activated Geocoins
mfamilee replied to DragonflyTotem's topic in Trackables
The two coin icons are listed in his trackable list. He needs to grab them if he wishes to show them in his inventory list. They are in his hands so the grabbing is just paperwork. With some of my adopted coins I have forgotten to do this LOL. After I grab them I drop them in one of my archived caches so they dont' show in my list. Okay, just checking... thanks. I have a couple of coins that I adopted & thought something looked different. Hopefully the OP will get it all figured out. -
Newbie Question About Purchased Activated Geocoins
mfamilee replied to DragonflyTotem's topic in Trackables
I noticed the OPs adopted coins still show they are in the hands of the previous owners. Isn't this something that needs to be fixed/adjusted? -
I wouldn't delete the find... just let it be. It would just need to be put back by the owner... regular maintenance. I see no reason to make a fuss over a smiley. The cacher knows they did wrong.

It could also be animals.

Yes, a very good thought. Thanks for bringing it up. I definitely agree.

Reporting someone that hangs on to a travel bug
mfamilee replied to Treasure Cachers's topic in Trackables
Eeek... you emailed the person back even after they told you not to? If you keep bugging a cacher about a trackable it will more than likely lower your chances of ever seeing it move again. They have acknowleged they have your TB... let it be. -
Hmm, I envision legos falling apart. Perhaps a part taken from a computer or other electronic device. People can guess what part it is? Decisions, decisions, decisions... Just don't attatch anything you aren't willing to lose. Edited to add this Longevity link for TBs.

Is it rude to take all the bugs in a cache?
mfamilee replied to Just Horsin' Around's topic in Trackables
Wow, it looks like this Travel Bug Inn has seen lots of trackable come & go. Your chances of finding the ones listed look pretty good too... go get 'em! GC130H3 -
Hmm... can I answer both? I'd like to see it move & I'd also like to see pictures of where its been. I'm guilty of forgetting to take photos of the trackables that we move on a lot of times. I feel bad because I take a ton of photos too. Shame on me.

LogJam of Doom looks like a great adventure! "If I leave here tomorrow would you still remember me" - I'll raise my lighter to that one. At least the Ugliest Cache Page admits it is ugly... too bad there's no warning.

What's your favourite thing about geocaching?

Getting stuck dirty on the rural back roads! -
Just visited a local, rural cemetery this evening to photograph some stones. There were 3 other couples there walking around like it's a routine after dinner. Point is... one of them led to us to the gravestone of Daniel Boone's nephew & gave us a little history lesson of Daniel Boone and his sister living in our area long, long, time ago. Okay, a bit off-topic, but wanted to tie this in with the history one can learn by visiting a cemetery. Don't be scared.
