  1. Can I change the name of my cache? I can't think of a whitty name for my cache now, but I am still thinking, but would like to publish it now. Cheers, Shucked
  2. Hey hey! So I’m placing my first 2 caches next week and have a few newbie questions! Firstly I’m using a borrowed Magellan SporTrak Color until my Colorado arrives soon! 1) The coordinates always drift a little bit, so how do you give an accurate enough point to assign to the cache. 2) What is WAAS averaging? It seems to have a timer associated with it, does this mean that it is averaging the location to make it more accurate? (just a guess) 3) I have tried every bloody thing, and I can’t seem to find where I can see the coordinates of the waypoints I have saved??? Thanks in advance! Shucked
  3. Sorry I know this topic has been asked a gazillion times. I'm going to get one of these units this week. And the more i research the more i get confused. All in all, location accuracy is the most important feature for me, so based purely on this, is there a difference? I don't want to be out fishing etc and have the col drifting 50M away from my actual location! I've just heard lots about inaccuracies with the colorado? Has this been fixed with the latest update? Cheers, Shucked
  4. Thanks for the replies guys! Now i'm even more confused . The accuracy thing is basically the only aspect i'm worried about, so im leaning towards the 60cs now.? Cheers, Shucked
  5. Hey all! About to invest in a 300, and considering there are now 21 pages of convoluted replies in this thread that i don't understand , i thought i'd just ask a few questions here. 1. Have the issues i have been reading about in relation to the inaccuracy of the colorado been fixed? I heard it can wander up to 50m from your actual location?? how does that go if i'm trying to place a cache. 2. Are most of the issues such as backlight settings, inaccuracy, and other usability features likely to be ironed out in updates in the coming months? 3. All in all, is the 300 a good unit, or would i be better off going with previous garmins such as the 60? Thanks very much in advance! Shucked
  6. Hi all! I'll start by saying wow, this is a totally new thing to me! It blows me away that there are things like geocaching going on so close to me and I just had no idea! What a bizzare concept. Very keen to start participating, it seems like a very interseting/challenging thing to do. And I'm keen to place my first cache/s. I'm thinking of doing my first few on Moreton Island (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia), + other places, but I'm unsure of a few things: 1. Is a displosable camera a good thing to put in? So everyone that visits can take a happy-snap and I'll post them up (somewhere?)? (I kind of find the idea of having little things in there a bit wierd!? Maybe it will grow on me as I find a few other caches ) 2. Any ideas as to how many people I could expect to try and find it? (alternatively how many people in Brisbane participate)? 3. And I'm going to get a new GPS. My old man and I are going halves in it and we will be using it a fair bit for fishing etc., so I'd rather spend the bucks now than have it outdated in 2 weeks. I've been looking at the Garmin Colorado. Is this a good unit? From all I've read it seems like a very good buy. Cheers! Joel
