  1. Individually wrapped pieces of swag? Like Xmas? No sir! No how! No way! We WILL NOT be doing this; we are very conscientious or our use of plastic bags in the home--let alone out in the wilderness. We embrace CITO and will not be bringing garbage out to GZ's; it is irresponsible and wasteful. If the container leaks, tell the CO maintenance needs to be done. If people put stuff in that is going to deteriorate then remove it and either use it your self or donate it. If it's rusty and moldy and wet, remove it and tell the CO maintenance needs to be done. We do carry a few large ziplocks with us to replace ones that have seen better days, but we are definitely thumbs down on the individually wrapped items.
  2. Here ya go. Hoax Silly! Yes, I know what a hoax is! I was just wondering what you had meant by "It's a hoax" ie: did you mean what I posted was a hoax, or the whole orange sticker thing? (I knew it wasn't done by any LEO, hence the name "Officially Muggled")
  3. I'm down with that. We could make an entire "Mitosis Series"
  4. Thanks, Frank AZ and Jersey Girl. The two that we found were in PHX in the Central corridor and the one that belonged to us was indeed here in Mesa. The sticker that was left on ours is orange, but it is smaller and the text is different. The term "Geotrash" was used in both places though.
  5. I haven't checked the other thread, but my guess is that this is not being done by any official entity, despite the context of the decal. Yes, that is the consensus over there and I never believed this to be done by any LEO; this person is placing "official" looking stickers and that is how I came to use the name "officially muggled".
  6. There are a few more recent muggles: GC22JRK GC1WQP3 GC1TFHG This is becoming a problem here in the Phoenix metro.
  7. Someone just made me aware of this thread after I posted my $0.02 HERE Here's what I said in my post: Hello all, Today we encountered yet another of these little orange stickers: at GC210AB. Here's another: at GC22JQ8 And then a couple of days ago, this happened to one of our caches: at GC2AFQ8 It is very frustrating as a cache owner who has done all of the right things in placing their cache to have some butthead seek it out, destroy it in the name of protecting from littering, and then litter the CZ with an orange sticker proclaiming their deed and that a legal cache is "Geotrash". Meanwhile, they bypass trash and graffiti to do so. This is not noble, and it is certainly not doing anything to protect the environment from litter. The law they are trying to cite as being violated at two of the sites regards these as acts of "Criminal Littering" while they themselves are guilty of doing exactly that! Someone is attempting to hide under this law while they commit their cowardly acts of theft, vandalism, and trying to make other folks unhappy as obviously they are. I know caches get muggled everyday, but it appears as if these acts are being done with an agenda (however misdirected it is) in mind. On the first two above, it is obvious that the culprit wants to see what people think of their cowardice as they are "watching" those caches. I know that in an effort to thwart this from happening to us in the future, we will be making all of our hides "Premium Only" and they will be multi-stage caches. My question is: Is this a common occurrence nowadays, or are is my caching team just happening to stumble upon these by coincidence? Is this now just part of geocaching? Is it possible for a moderator to see if the person who is watching these muggled caches is the same guy? If it is, is it possible to see which other caches are being watched by them as well so that the cache owner can be made aware that their cache may or may not be compromised?

  9. Make a new travel bug and attach one of THESE to it and then retrieve ALL of those travel bugs.
  10. Or what are some things you have done to cover up what you're doing if someone happens upon you while you're zeroing in on the CZ? I once had a muggle drive right up and park in front of me when I was squatting on the ground and had a large cache in my hand.
  11. As the summer here in the Phoenix area draws to a close, there will be many cachers venturing outside again to take advantage of the beautiful weather for the next nine months. Along with the cache hunters will be muggles. Many, many muggles. I am curious to know what methods some of you cachers have used when employing "Stealth Mode" while hunting caches in areas where discovery by muggles was a factor. I usually resort to the placing the GPS'r on my ear and talking to myself method, but are there other things that you have found to be useful when searching? Also, if you have stories of of successfully caching around muggles, those would be fun to read as well. Or things you have done to cover up what you're doing if someone happens upon you while you're zeroing in on the CZ?
  12. Thank you for the advice. I suspected the TB owners might be able to see it. Will wait until the cache is approved. Thanks again!
  13. Hello, I browsed the first couple of pages on in the Travel Bug forum and didn't see one regarding this. I apologize if this one has already been answered and I didn't read far enough back. Anywho, we just placed a geocoin that we found in a cache that we had just made and hidden. I submitted the cache for approval, but I'm not sure if I can log the TB drop yet. I don't want to reveal my cache until it's approved, so should I wait until the cache is published? Or is there a way to log the drop and have it remain invisible until the cache is published? Thank you
