  1. Perhaps this should get posted on the general discussion board in case there's anyone who knew him.
  2. I am so sorry. Please extend our deepest sympathy to his family. I'm right there with you, DillonGang. This has been a year of sad news so far.
  3. Good gosh, I must have been at the hospital when he was brought in. Of course I cannot confirm that the following information pertains to Bikedog and so please know that the following comments are mere speculation. The reason I was at Scripps Memorial hospital was that my sweet bride and I took my ninety-two year old dad into the emergency/trauma unit this morning. We arrived at about 9:00 p.m. and stayed until my dad was taken to a room upstairs at about 7:00 p.m. We spent the entire day in the emergeny unit because, in part, the Scripps staff were preoccupied with an injured man that was brought in by helicopter. We sat in the emergency-unit waiting room beside a group of concerned family members and saw more of them arrive in a state of extreme anguish. We also saw the Scripps helicopter arrive with a man that they took straight-away into the trauma unit. We saw that some of the patient's clothing was torn away. As time went on we overheard a remark that the attending neurosurgeons didn't expect the patient to live and of course heard reactions from disdraught family members. It was a very sad and emotional scene. The Scripps staff were working diligently to pull him through. Harmon Harmon, I hope your dad is doing OK. I guess it is a good sign that they felt he could wait. I hope he's outta there quickly!
  4. Oh my goodness, how awful! I'm so sorry to hear it but while he's still alive there's still hope for a miracle. Please keep us updated. Thanks
  5. Congratulations to Let's Look Over Thayer on 900!!
  6. $kimmer goes for 3000? She'll be up all night to log thirty-one finds. WOW! Way to go Skimmer!
  7. It's my understanding that any Cache with a terrain rated 1 is Wheel Chair accessible. At least that is what Chuys says and I agree. So just do a search of terrains rated 1 and you should be set. You'd think that, but it's seldom ever true.
  8. I'm not absolutely sure of these except Jury Duty. Maybe someone who's done them can say. I do know that there are a couple more in Seaport Village and you could get very close but probably not reach them. They are Fountain PLaza and Una Palma. Jury Duty Scale Back Midway Between Gaslamp
  9. I heard it too. All I could think was "Thank goodness Duncan had already changed his name from douche-bag!"
  10. Happy Birthday to you -- HAPPY! Happy Birthday to you -- HAPPY! Happy Birthday, dear Splashette -- HAPPY! Happy Birthday to you! And many more......... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANIE!
  11. We were just a few minutes behind Flagman AND the isprinter. Took one of each from Up^2 (I think.)
  12. We have a friend who is an electronics gadget lover and they had done a cache with their new GPS (a now-archived one that they DNF'ed on.) It sounded like something our family would enjoy (understatement!) so I bought a GPS for hubby's birthday in Nov, 2003. Needless to say we took to it with an enthusiasm that hasn't let up!
  13. My hovercraft is full of eels. (Anyone?)
  14. My opinion is that every waypoint in a multi should be a cache! Wouldn't that be nice! But seriously....I've done multis with 16 waypoints and that is a bit excessive. To me 3-5 is a reasonable amount. It really depends on how long it takes and how thrilling the waypoints are. I know that I've gotten in the car for Dan-oh multis but his waypoints are entertaining enough so that it is well worth the ride! I agree with Pat. Any more than 5 gets tiresome. Plus if you're caching under time constraints (playing hookey from work/have to get the kids from school) it's nice to know how many WPs there are going to be in advance.
  15. You know, I haven't felt the least bit bad about being 44. That is, until today!
  16. OK, never mind that. Did anyone else pick up on this statement? "Rowe said he had parked his car on the shoulder of the freeway and had been hiking." WHAT??????????
  17. CONGRATS, HARMON, ON SEVENTY ONE-DERFUL YEARS!
  18. Sheesh, all this fancy stuff....Kawikaturn used an empty beer bottle on Compromising Positions
