  1. That is what I use all of the time. Love it! Thanks ChileHead!
  2. We have a thread for Categories that have unresponsive officers. That got me wondering if there are any categories that already have active officers, but need or could use more help? I remember a post last year sometime where some WMers identified that they were officers/leaders for 30-40 groups. That has got to lead to a lot of waymarks to review... I'm sure there are at least a couple of people willing to help out if we can find out which categories are looking for help (or at least would be willing to receive some help).
  3. As a possible work around for not having a WM App, you can try using one of these two websites from your smart phone: http://www.zwecklos.ch/wm.htm http://www.chilehead.us/wm These can be useful in a pinch. I share your frustration with the maps and trip planning. When I trip plan, I usually use gc.com to find a town or reststop along a highway, click on a nearby cache and then click on the "View Nearest Waymarks on Waymarking.com" link. This way I can scroll the map and move on down the highways I intend to drive. Is it going to capture every waymark on a route? No. But if you are traveling over a 1,000+ mile (1,609.3+ km) route, then its a lot easier than typing in town names along your route in the wm.com search bar. And you will find out which waymarks are near the highway (versus in the middle of town).
  4. As I have said before, I feel like "The commercial categories are the LPCs of Waymarking." Some people like to visit/post them to run up their numbers or to get the icons, and some people will just ignore them for more "productive" visits/posts.
  5. I have about 10 times the number of visits versus postings. When I go looking for a WM, I create my search list with: categories I'm interested in, icons I need for my stats and WMs without a visit. That usually ends up with a pretty good number of WMs to find.
  6. Thanks Bruce. I had the same problem with yours until I found out I had disabled "Location Services" for Safari (web browser for you non-iPhone users). Not sure which one I like better yet... Will have to tinker with it while I'm out and about.
  7. When I click on that link on my iPhone, I get an "Error: Permission Denied." message. Any thoughts?
  8. And they have fun doing armchair visits... I thought I was weird... lol
  9. Yep, just like when I take my car to the shop. It will make a noise for weeks or months but then vanishes as soon as I pull into the parking lot...
  10. Sounds like you are in the right place... Welcome to Waymarking!
  11. If it is from World War II, you can use the WWII Prisoner of War Camps category.
  12. From the WM page, you can click on the name of the user next to 'Posted By:' and that will take you to their user page. On there, you can click on 'Send Message' to send them an e-mail.
  13. Its almost here... 495 more to go...
  14. I think you should update the current waymaks with the new coords/info. I don't see much benefit of leaving the old location as a Legacy WM. Maybe you could add the previous coordinates in the updated information.
  15. We are slowly creeping up on 400,000 Waymarks... Wow!
  16. Where is this option at? I tried creating a new hunt, but didn't see where I could ignore other categories.
  17. Which category states this? Can you be more specific than "Sign category"? I tried to find where I read it but I can't find it now. I'll keep looking. Maybe it was when you were trying to post it as a new waymark... You probably selected Signs and then it asked for a sub-category. Just a thought.
  18. I have kindof done the same thing. I only download Small, Regular, Large and Virturals caches. Got too frustrated looking for Micros/Nanos... But now I spend a lot of my GPSr time being FTF on WMs in the area. My goal is to have all WMs withing 10 miles of my house have at least 1 visit. My secondary goal is to fill in my category grid.
  19. Sounds like a perfect story to submit to the Waymarking site for their "Share You Waymarking Adventures" (see story under News Items).
  20. Zero, but I'm interested in becoming an officer (or leader) so I can start pulling my own weight around here...
  21. OK, now what? lol Are you looking for officers?
