  1. So. I played with the GPX file and it is the web link in the waypoint that is causing problems with Basecamp. Remove the link and it opens. Interestingly, if I try to add a Web Link to a waypoint in Basecamp, it crashes... Some more playing. After you try and import a bad file, you need to reboot the computer for Basecamp and Mapsource to work properly again. Anyway, the 64S is saving the web link incorrectly. It is using <url></url> which is not valid in GPX.
  2. Yes. Did the test before updating the 64S. Verified Basecamp would not open the waypoint. Deleted it. Updated. Did it all again. The GPX files are identical and Basecamp is just as unable to open them.
  3. So I checked and the update does not fix the problem with Basecamp reading the files. The files that are stored from the wireless transfers are no different before and after the update.
  4. Yes, but there is no way to wirelessly transfer a GPX file, so what are they fixing?
  5. They 64S and SC have bluetooth as well as ANT+. The 64 has nothing. When they were released, they had an app called Basecamp Mobile which had limited data transfer capability. Since then, the only app that connects wirelessly is Connect. It can offload information, but has no ability to send information to the GPS (AFAIK). The units have the hardware to allow wireless data transfer, there is just no software.
  6. https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6805 So, first a 64 does not have any wireless capability.... That aside, if we were talking about a 64S or 64SC, there is no way currently to transfer a GPX file to the devices, is there?
  7. You need to upload the drafts from your GPS. To upload drafts (field notes) from your compatible Garmin device: Plug your Garmin device into your computer with a USB cable. Click "Browse" or "Choose File" on this web page and go to the Garmin directory on your device's drive. Select the file named "geocache_visits.txt" and click "Upload draft" on this page to upload your drafts. We recommend that you delete the "geocache_visits.txt" file on your device once your drafts have been successfully uploaded.
  8. Opt out FIRST!!!! Which is what I already told you. Thus the reason for the word "then"..... Then follow my instructions. Good lord. Would you like a detailed instruction manual with pictures?
  9. Then you click on "upload field notes". You then get to a page with tabs giving detailed instruction from each brand.
  10. If you use the GarminExport macro, it does everything for you. Overwrites old data, makes data as GGZ, GPX and/or POI, proximity alerts and much, much more.... https://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=15866&amp;st=0
  11. Here: https://www.geocaching.com/my/uploadfieldnotes.aspx
  12. They are changing the signal structure in the future and it includes an increase from 10 to 13 bits for the week, which gives 157 years of weeks.
  13. Every 20 years, we get to have the same discussion.
  14. Weird. Even my Garmin 38 does not have an issue. Assuming the device is not corrupt and has connected to a satellite in the last twenty years, there should be no reason for it to be confused as to whether it is today or twenty years from today. The last connected location and time is always stored to non volatile memory and since the next connection must be in the future, it is not rocket science to do the coding...
  15. Also go to the GGZ directory if you have the pre-loaded caches on there and delete that file.
  16. You do not need cell reception to use the phone. You can download to the phone easier than you can download to the 60...
  17. They are not beams of light..... They are not laser weapons....
  18. No idea. It should not do that. How are you getting the caches on there? Are they showing up as "geocaches" and not "waypoints".
