  1. Sure - then the land managers will ban all physical caches - just because virtuals are allowed - I saw it happen back when virtuals were still accepted. Maybe they should if areas are getting trashed by Geocachers.
  2. One way to combat this type activity would be to allow virtuals in places like this.
  3. He does note on the TB page that you should DISCOVER it and that you can keep the one you discover. Or at least that's the way I read the page.
  4. The second person to "log" it noted that it was broken and possibly out of place. There's no way to know that this person was the second to find it. I don't know the FTF but after taking a glance at his profile and the log he left, praising the container, I don't believe he would be my prime suspect.
  5. I definitely would not at this time even though I'm only 55. Things like this don't hold my attention long enough to commit to something like a lifetime membership. Not real happy with the direction I see it going either.
  6. One of Huntsville's first caches placed is in the mouth of a small cave.
  7. I'll add my vote that I'd not have a problem with that type cache.
  8. I don't cache for the numbers either. In a past life I did like you and just decided I'd not log finds. In this life, I'm logging most of them so that the CO knows someone visited their cache. I'm not logging those caches that I feel are particularly obnoxious to _me_. In other words, I'm not giving credit where credit is not due, in my opinion only. As for others being able to see my logged caches or souvenirs,I don't see the harm in it, but I also support your desire for a choice in the matter.
  9. I can't afford to either have coins made or to collect them, but I would not have a problem with moving a proxy along. It would be great to be able to find one every now and then that I could keep but I sure understand why that probably won't happen. I content myself with collecting signature items of fellow cachers and being able to move along the TB's and coins when I can....
  10. I hit a few up on the north end of town on Friday. One that really stood out for me was an old lime kiln. Pretty cool and a shame it is "hidden" in overgrowth and not many folks get to see it. Glad the CO put one there and I got to see it.
  11. I too think it's a great idea. Let' er' rip......
  12. I'd have to go with a wouldn't. On froggin', swappin' or PT'in .
  13. I just found one of your Magnets! and it's cool on another level for me. My son's in the Coast Guard stationed at Kodiak Air Station and I just happened to be wearing one of his USCG hats when I found it.
  14. Containers large enough for something other than a log and not in someone's yard.
  15. I feel a whole lot more "silly" and/or "uncomfortable" caching in urban areas rather than the rural areas. I much prefer the rural hunts.
  16. How do you mean? Is this called dipping? Yep.
  17. I'll throw a couple cents in here too. I've had a Magellan. Won't do that again anytime soon. I've owned a Garmin Etrex. It was a good unit and my son still has it and uses it. I have a 60csx and I love it. I just bought it knowing that it is "end of life". I already had an Ipod touch for the paperless cache thing so I decided that I go that route instead of buying an all in one unit.....
  18. Back in the day, when GPSr's weren't that precise you had to hunt more. Now when they are as precise as they are, I reckon you have to fudge to get the same hunt.
  19. Ditto the welcome! It's a really run pursuit.
  20. Learn something new everyday here. Just deleted log. It was done in humor though I see now that that was not appropriate.
