  1. Did that work? if you dig around you can find internet explorer or download chrome or Firefox if edge is clunky on this
  2. I have a trackable whose number must have been a character off from one that was on a list of trackables at a mega in germany. is there a way to delete multiple logs easily?
  3. had the same problem, with an HCx. I suspected storage in my garage in the summer in a high heat condition. (kept it in my bike handlebar bag so it was ready to go) . the Garmin rep I talked to said heat was a likely culprit, that people shouldn't leave them in the car ( this about a machine made to give turn by turn direction? what are you supposed to do with it when you go the the movie, take it in?) Anyway, the fix for me was to go back to REI and ask about getting some help regarding warranty, instead they just handed me a new unit and exchanged, no questions asked. If you have an REI in your area, it is like having a lifetime warranty on anything you buy. They don't have the lowest prices in town, but who cares if it ends up you got two for one if it breaks after the factory warranty is gone??
  4. I am specifically interested in offroute.com, they seem to be from Reno NV, and from the few reviews I have seen seem to be ok. Anyone have experience dealing with them? This subject seems like a good topic to pin. Thanks in advance. sprkygrg
  5. I have a macbook pro but no dakota , can't you use Mac Caching to load to the micro SD card? I put my sd card in the adapter, then in the slot on my mac, and load up from there, so it should work as well for your Oregon as my poor old VistaHCX ( I think ) good luck. Garmin Base Camp seems to have some rudimentary waypoint management too, and pretty good routing. BTW, it is a reasonably priced piece of software and has a free trial mode that is fully functional

  7. i had similar problems, haven't had to deal with it since I started using GSAK. takes a premium membership, which I feel is a bargain, and GSAK (free if you want it to be, but again worth the money). you can also download from garmin's site.
  8. I have had good luck with the farberware version, but I think paint works better than cammo tape, some I have used sun-faded and the dyes didn't fade at equal rates so it ended up a blueish hue that really stood out
  9. I am having a similar problem, I have been re-working some archived caches. People have been logging my new cache and the old archives even though the old log book no longer exists. I think if you don't find the cache you don't sign the online Log. For your bolthead hide, finding the physical log is part of the challenge. I agree with the previous poster, a log deletion and gentle reminder with offer of hint is reasonable. Be ready for some pishback.
  10. It is indeed interesting to see over time that there are people obsessed with numbers and some in it for quality experiences. To see the depths that some people sink to, check out some of our local caches. One prolific cache hider archived a large qty of caches, (about 170) on a single day last October. A couple of us have started re-working and re-hiding, usually with new coordinates and with a new log book. Some locals have taken to logging both caches when they find the new hide. This seems to violate a basic idea, sign the physical log and you are entitled to the online log. How can you find something that no longer exists?? What do you guys think? I would be interested in some perspective from long time cachers. For some examples search for hides by SGT Eagle AND Sprkygrg or YeOleImposter such as Stonewater and StonewaterII Clearwater Creek North and Clearwater Creek Redux Cherrywood and CherrywoodII same people logging both caches on the same day even though the old one was archived in October and removed/replaced before the "new"find of the archive. Any thoughts?
