  1. Pogs were a kids game/toy back a few years. They were small discs with wierd and wacky pictures. There was a wide range of designs and styles. Some more sought after than others as they were considered a collectable. They may make a good colorful swag additions?
  2. Hope to have a few painted and numbered ready to send out into the world this weekend. Will post pics.
  3. Although your intentions for the cache and its placement were good, some thought should have been put into its look and the enviroment in which it was placed. No cache of a significant shape or size camouflaged in that way should be placed near any structure that is used by humans or animals. The cache should clearly show its contents to never be mis-understood as to what they are. Had you left this nice looking cache in the woods or near a non-structure you peobably would have never had this issue. I feel it was just a bad judgement call in hind sight. Ya learn from your mistakes as we all learn as well from this incident. I do not think that it is realistic for the bomb squads to enter in co-ordinates before investigating.
  4. Yah Yah, lol Thats coming this weekend.
  5. I did design a back lable and just ran the labels through the printer, they look fine for what I am after. So next batch will be on heavier chips. Just feels better.
  6. I have been making custom tokens for some cache swag, but they do take alot of time. I was looking for a faster token idea like a wooden nickle and found this as an option. I picked up poker chips at the Dollar store along with a sheet of NHL stickers. I will put a sticker on one side and a printed lable with info on the other. If I could get better quality chips I will, but what do you think? These will mainly be left with nothing taken in exchange, cause I don't wanna be cheap. But I think they look not too bad. Quick set of 30 tokens for $3 in materials.
  7. Certainly will do. The plaster will be sealed to become harder than it is after its cast. Its dunked in a schellac/methal Hydrate bath as the schelac seals the pours providing some solidity. I also intend to number them and put a small card with them asking the taker to email me when they take it to keep or if they pass it on. By the way, the molds are set and being tested now. The block mold (my first try at this style) appears to have turned out well, not the first test will see how well the cast comes out. I just tried to extract the small token from the smaller mold and the cast is a good quality, but it wasn't try enough and snapped....lol I didn't wait long enough. I will certainly not touch the bigger one yet for a bit. -------------------- Ok the First casts are done. The original master tokens are slightly browned from the residue mold making resin. The molds turned out good. The cast tokens will never be as perfect as the master token.
  8. Here are shots of the molds beginning to set. Lego and packing tape are excellent tools for making any shape needed for a mold to set. The large token is being made in a block that will form two halves (if all works out). If not I will have to do molds of each half individually. However this causes more work in the casting stages.
  9. You people are all nuts Did you all visit the same cache or something? Did you pick up an unknown bug or bacteria the rest should be warned about??...lol This blank post thread was funny. Oh and This is how you do a Blank Post!
  10. The caches will not be super difficult to get to (easy access by all), but I may be making up some of my own capsule containers to hide the micro cache or cache box in, such as hollowed out logs or stumps or pinecones etc etc. So the difficulty will not be reaching the item (other than finding the right spot) but in finding the hidden container. But there will be the appropriate clues and hints on the cache page. But I will certainly look for a few of the local ones as per your suggestions. I also have a nano cache that I will place (the capsule will be a magnetic blinky light). It will again not be difficult for any one to get to the spot, but will be in the finding of it, but the clues will drastically reduce the area to search. The clue being that its magnetic would help too. I will also be keeping strongly in mind to place the cache such that no enviromental damage is done in the placing or finding of the cache. However you can only try to control the searchers behaviours or path to a certain degree.
  11. For me it will be interesting to see where the tokens end up. One of my Caches will involve a close up and personal meeting with our feathered friends!
  12. Ummm...growing up, I had a dog that played with rocks. She would throw them in the air and catch them. I think she would definitely play with a concrete tennis ball. By the way -- it's a very cool cache container! Bec We carefully took apart a golf ball with an elastic core and we unwound a continuious piece of elastic. we rand it all through the hosue and let it go, and zoom off it went.
  13. Hi folks, just starting with Geo Caching. My aunt and uncle started our family on it. I have not hunted out the local caches just yet but will. I already have ideas of 3 caches to place locally. But to the point ofmy topic. I know from what I read, your cache usually contains items that people take and leave something behind. Has anyone actually "Created" their own treasures or momentos for people to take with them? Being a bit of a handyman, I design 3D game pieces to played with my board games group. So creating a master "token" and making molds in an easy process for me. I have created as of last night two different sized tokens to be placed in my caches to be taken by who ever finds the cache as a souviner. It shows a picture that represents the town, with the location engraved in the outer edge. The back side lists the name of the local town river. My intention is to allow others to take a souviner if they think it is a worthy token of a cache they visited. Since I will have a mold made I will be able to replace the tokens when ever needed with an endless supply. I plan on making some of them to look almost like pirate treasure coins. Anyone else have handmade treasures for the finders? --------- Ok here is a picture of the masters before the molds are made. You can see the canadian coins for size comparison. I will eventually post pictures of some of them painted in various paint schemes. Let me know what you think. To Give you an idea how well plaster made items can be painted and done up, here is an example of my gaming tiles made from plaster that I designed. So the tokens can have a similar paint quality.
