  1. I generally navigate by watching the co-ordinates change. IE N44 37,567 etc etc. Yes a map helps but is not impossible to do without.
  2. Any person who makes thier own sig items would appreciate the time taken to make these thus making them more valuable to other crafters.
  3. Hardware stores in Canada sell a resin product called envirotex lite that comes in various sizes. Its $32CND for a 32Oz kit. It could likely make about 100 - 300 cap sig items depending on how you apply the medium. I used it to make a beer cap table some time back when in university where beer caps were in endless supply. It can be messy to work with if not careful but not hard to use. It could be a very practical way to make cool sig items like these caps. an Excellent idea!! Once mixed an poured it takes about 12 - 24 hours to harden depending on humidity and conditions.
  4. Very interesting idea and process!!
  5. I hope to set up the Lunar Exploration Cache in the near future. The cache will have the moon sig tokens for souvenirs along with other interesting moon facts for th kids. (Tokens K and J)
  6. That certainly helps too. Stick with someone local who you can come to trust or at least find em to bust down their door. LOL jk
  7. It sounds like a case of taking on more than you could properly handle and not infoming the effected parties. Also a lack of communication on your part to satisfy the clients. I have done lots of comissioned work and always ensure I have time to work on it before accepting the job. I prefer to work for myself as well as I make the decisions. But if thats strictly the case why venture into the design business to begin with. Very seldom do I take money or payment upfront. I feel if I do not finish it to meet mine and the clients approval then that is a risk I take. If the client decides to make major changes after draft work has been done, then an agreed price for previous work is set before major changes occur and work continues. Comissioned artists also need to remember that email communication gives out only a fraction of communication information that would otherwise be achieved by face to face communication. So via email we cannot pick up on the smaller signals. The artist as to ensure that the customer is getting enough information. I think if all these dealings face to face alot of these problems would have been quickly eliminated.
  8. My Geo tokens have changed and increased in variety. For anyone who wishes to trade geocoin(s) for my geotoken(s) please feel free to contact me. Tokens A - E, K are 2" or larger. C & H are the only double sided tokens with H being a poker chip token. Token K and I will soon show paint schemes. K will most likely be painted the same as the Moon Hex. All are made of plaster of paris sealed and hand painted averaging about 30 - 40 min of labour each. Tokens F and G require less labour and are about 1 1/4 inches in size or the size of poker chips, Token H .
  9. Guess I should pay closer attention to this thread...LOL I see I won for the recently submitted Moon Token that needs to have a mold formed first before I can make replicas from the master. The paint scheme will be the same as the Hex, but will be available in other worldly offlandish colors Similar to the various colors found on my space themed mini Catan tiles. You can see the possibilities are endless for a outerspace moon. Thanks again Guys.
  10. I placed a cache about 4 weeks ago and I am more than happy to have 5 finds! They all comment how they enjoyed the walk and the birds they are there to hear and possibly see. So it all depends on your expectations. I am also aware we are from a less populated area than a major urban core so again numbers depend on the local and transient geocaching population.
  11. LOL, never thought of that, hmm, will have to be well hidden.
  12. Using similar materials and skills used to make the following creatored geotokens, I was thinking of making a larger plaster Meteorite Cache container that would open up to contain the Cache goodies. The false Meteorite would be the cache. The surface would look similar to the tokens that could be taken as a souvenir. This was one of my space themed tiles from my Space Catan game set. Thought it would be a neat token. This is the new Round creatored token that I have yet to make the mold for. What do you think?
  13. I am in the process of making another Geo token. It will be a moon cratered token in both round and Hex shap like this one. This was one of my space themed tiles from my Space Catan game set. Thought it would be a neat token. This is the master, once a mold is painted I'll get some made up.
  14. Who is selling the Purple Earth Turtle just like your 3 on ebay? Is that an older edition?
  15. People will be amazed with what they can make if they put their minds to it and set aside a bit of time to do it!
  16. Thanks to those that have offered to make changes, I now have a few geocoins on the way to get me started. If your still interested in the tokens feel free to contact me.
  17. I am finding coins are addictive and interesting to look at.
  18. This ismage has been posted several times int eh Geocoins section, but thought I would update this thread. The "Dead Set On Finding The Cache" token is going to get a new painting scheme. Its just not doing it for me.
  19. I REALLY like them all but really like First H then C then D. H is a double sided poker token, C is also a double sided 2" token. D seems to be a favorite. If your interested in a trade send me an email.
  20. Let me know when you do update, Im all for a trade to get started in geocoins.
  21. Having the experience, I have designed and created the master token, prepared it for the mold and poured the mold in under 4 hours. My molds have yet to fail, they last a long time if handled properly and cared for. Having said all that it does take some time getting use to working with the materials. Plaster of paris can be brittle and needs to be handled with care when carving or adding detail from a master token.
  22. Actually if you read the pinned topic about geocoins at the top of this forum they will list in the rules the various coin manufacturers they are associated with. I found on my first request it was going to be about $7 a coin min run of 100.
