  1. Literally: (according to the big 'G') Which drives it actually, if you do not excite straight with the folding spade in the forest suspicion? I thought it was an encryted clue....
  2. 10 years as a full service resturaunt manager taught me alot. One of the most important lessons I learned: Some people complain no matter what. Some people complain when they feel they have been treated wrongly. Some people never complain, no matter what. Statistically, 80% of people who feel they are treated poorly or receive bad service don't complain, they simply go away. The lurkers who are in the 'disgruntled but won't complain' category don't voice they're opinions because they already stopped reading the forums. I feel 'voicing my opinion', which I hope I have done constructively (and believe I have done so fairly) is a SERVICE to these forums, the community and TPTB. A failure to listen to those voicing compliants does not make the complaint a bad thing. Actually it makes the complaint all the more crucial to the survival and evolution of the system. The degree and severity of complaints reduces as the number of people (in a position to do something about it) listen and respond to said complaints. Even if the response is only 'yes I hear you'.
  3. Steal the log book so no one can prove or disprove your find.
  4. All this time I thought the pink tutu and diamond tiara where 'pickle park participants'. I never realized those where fellow geocachers. Darn it, I think.
  5. You mean lower it to PG or raise it to X? Now I've gone and confused myself.
  6. First let me say that we hardly ever trade unless we have Shifty (4 year old) with us. After our first couple the caches it was clearly more about the hunt. All the posts in the world are not going to change some people. There are crappy caches and crappy contents. On a really enjoyable cache I feel grateful and obligated to add some descent swag. Others get TNLNSL. We spent about $40 placing our first cache. We filled it with mostly kid stuff and placed it in a reasonably easy but neat location. Almost everyone has traded well. We built the kind of cache we want to find. Almost no maintenece has been required. The response has been favorable. So far we have only placed one cache. The southwest Ohio cachers have traded well and I have yet to be dissapointed with its placing or any trades. I will not place another cache until 1. a neat idea / spot hits me 2. I know I can maintain it. What I do not understand is cachers who have placed dozens or dozens of dozens of caches. How the heck do you maintian thiese? I prefer to own a few GOOD caches I can maintain and fellow cachers can enjoy, and will try to do my part to support other GOOD caches by contributing to them. PS - CITO applies to cache contents, right? RIGHT??
  7. keystone, Thank you for a patient, fair and tolerant attitude while steering the topic back on topic.
  8. I don't think I have noticed anyone complaining about the amount of money. The issue as I see is that alot of people foolishly believe that because they pay for something they should be considered / treated like customers by TPTB. Just because I give someone money doesn't give me the right to have any say in the product or level of service I receive. Right? RIGHT????
  9. I didn't have an opinion. I was annoyed by what I perceived as troublemakers. Then my "Can't we all get along?" thread got closed. I still see no reason why this was done. So I asked a question: Am I a customer or a guest? Not happy with the answer or attitude I got from Jeremy. Hoping TPTB do something to make me feel like a customer. Until then, I will bite my tongue and try to enjoy the forums. Until a certain TPTB posts some hateful, condensending snide post and I get mad again. PS - I can't recall anyone ever crying freedom of speech. It's about customer service to me.
  10. Does anyone rmember the 'Choose your own adventure' books?
  11. Do you really feel you need 2 boxes of ammo? I think your going overboard with that one.
  12. You guys have some great beginning ideas for caches using techy stuff. Now I have something new for the subconcious to work on tonight while I sleep. Slight deviation from the current course: I am a big Stephen King fan, expecially 'The Dark Tower' series. There are currently 5 book with the final 2 coming out in the next year. I would love to do a multi, or series of mutli's following some of the themes of the books. Just can't get a really killer idea laid out. One other thing that holds me back on this one is popular knowledge. Do I make the clues fan specific or just themed? (easy or hard enough for even non fans to follow) The books are very adventure driven, pretty much Epic western version of the Lord of the Rings. Stike a cord with anyone?
  13. I don't imagine I would mind as long as they where not 'recycled' specimen containers.
  14. I am not especially religious but the prayer idea does not bother me. An ammo box full of prayer books and WWJD keychains usually solicites an eyeroll but....who cares. If I don't like the theme or cache idea, I'll find something else to chase. Atleast its better than the condom cache idea, who came up with that bs?
  15. I have never in my life learned anything from any man who agreed with me. Means I get verbally abused quite often.
  16. I REALLY wanted to post a comment about what your palm would show if used properly but I JUST CAN"T DO IT, in public.
  17. I personally find the word 'puppy' to be exceptionially offensive. As a child I was mauled by a pack of wild rabid puppy Jack Russell Terriers. To this day I cannot even watch Frasier. Could you all refrain from using the P word in any future post? After opening myself up like that I think I need a hug, has anyone seen my tree?
  18. How about the Chevy Nova....Spanish translation = Chevy No go.
  19. "Great caches are not companions, they are solitudes." Then of course there is the gunslinger quote. VVVVVVVV
  20. 3 months in and I keep buying larger packs. Right now I carry: First aid kit ( a really large self packed one) Mag light GPSr Rope Book:how to survive in the wilderness FRS radios (2) Cell Phone cache business cards trade items compass maps snack food water rain panchos (3) leatherman pocket knife trash bags extra ziploc bags trekking pole Digital Camera Pens / Pencils Sharpie Probably some things I forgot. Keep adding new stuff as I find myself out somewhere and needing it/wishing I had a XXXX.
  21. It is rarely my intention to push the limits. Usually I try to be funny and somehow atleast 1 person takes me seriously and I have to explain that it was a joke, then I get warned then I get mad then I join in some crazy stupid mod war thingy and THEN I push the limits. I would very much enjoy avoiding any future witch hunts or misunderstandings, problem is I'm a smartA**. Back on topic I think the GeoParty sounds like a great idea.
