  1. You might also like this one http://www.geocaching.com/challenges/view.aspx?cx=CX15E (The text is only in German unfortunately - I can translate it if you wish). As so many absurd challenges come from Germany, it is not so surprising that also some reactions come from Germany as of course many German cachers do not like the armchair junk. Cezanne Yes, that one is amusing. And stupid like the rest.
  2. You don't even have to have your own pic to do it. You can find a challenge then go snag some pic off the internet to fullfill it. Stupid, very stupid.
  3. LOL YES.....That's a good one!!! I think I see archive in its future!
  4. I submitted a challenge which is the type I think they all should be. You have to go and take a picture at a specific place, not of your dog or climbing a tree in your backyard. I thought that was the idea, like a virtual. To attract people to some place that you can't otherwise place a cache container. Mine is to take a creative picture of a bridge near me that is unique. The other ones that have nothing to do with going to a specific place are ridiculous! Also, if it adds to your regular count, why is there a seperate block for challenges in your profile. I thought it would only count there, not on both?
  5. "I'm sure there are others, but the poo-bag dispensers around me are not magnetic. I learned that the hard way once, after I carefully measured one, went home and cut out a piece of magnetic vinyl the same size as the underside, and painted it a matching green. Went down to attach it, only to find that the boxes in my neck of the woods are either almuminum or stainless steel. Edit to add: I should have read the hint." I have a solution for this problem. Just saw a cache this weekend where someone attached a rectangle of magnets to the back of a wooden sign, then attached a metal cover, complete with fake screwheads so it looks like it is screwed to the back of the wooden sign. That metal cover was stuck to the rectangle of magnets. Very nice concept and basically invisible to muggles.

  7. The only encounter I've had with police was at my own cache. I had one just under 2 miles from my house. One evening just after dusk I was driving past and decided I should just check it. I'd stopped my car and was searching in my door for the flashlight. When I looked up, the flashing lights were right next to my car! I rolled down the window and explained what I was doing. He asked for a full explanation of geocaching which I provided. Then I added that he was likely to see other cars here with people looking for the cache. He was fine with it. I didn't bother to check the cache that night. However I did kick myself for not getting out and showing him the cache for further clarification.
  8. I'm not into the shaped elastic bands. Might take the post-its as long as they were dry. How about some Cub Scout pins that my son got years ago?
  9. It was working fine for me up until a few minutes ago. I had the screen up from earlier today when I was working ot it. Then I went back to the map screen to check out the route I was working on and NO ICONS! They were there a minute ago! What is going on?????
  10. Maybe this is explained somewhere, but I can't figure it out. On the new map format, some of the cache icons are square and some are round. What is the difference?
  11. We did 29 PA DeLorme pages and 130 caches in the week we spent in northwestern PA. I find it hard to believe I'm saying this, but by the ride home, I was cached out. Did I just say that??? OMG!!! I put over 1700 miles on my car, and we never left Pennsylvania. deb3day
  12. A new series was just created. Unfortunately no one has created a bookmark yet, but I'm guessing someone will. Then again, it will probably be me! I'm anxious to see the caches on a PQ map alone to get an idea of their range. Oh well, it's off to bookmark I go......
  13. Is there a way to do a PQ by CO? At this point, the only way I can see to do that is by individually bookmarking all of the CO's caches and then running the PQ from the bookmark. I have a CO with 45 caches that I want to PQ and would love an easier way. Can anyone help?

    HTML on T

OK, I just discovered that the "source" thing lets me do it. But is this whole page set up new? I don't remember all of that stuff being there before. And I'm having a really hard time getting things to work. One thing I notice is that when I bring up the page, I see for a brief moment, the page as it USED TO BE. But then it goes away and I get the page with all kinds of editting icons across the top of where you type in your info. Is there an option to turn all of that off? What's up?

    HTML on T

It's been a while since I set up a new TB, but I know that I used HTML on the page. I can't seem to do that today. What am I missing here?

    2000 cache?

Looks like the Delaware one is the best bet for me. It's 105 miles. Much better than the two in PA.

    2000 cache?

Hi deb3day, the oldest cache i know of is in NJ. GCC8 it was placed Hidden : 11/25/2000. and there is a birthday bash event for the cache on Sunday, 21 November 2010 GC2H9WB. they will get together for some cake and then make a pilgrimage to the oldest cache in NJ. its a long mountain hike from parking to the cache itself. Which is probably why the cache has lasted so long. I am trying to get a ride to the event on Sunday the 21st and subsequently the the cache. if you want company let me know, i'd be glad to go with ya. Nope, can't do the 21st. My sister is running in the Philadelphia Marathon and I'll be down there on Sunday.

    2000 cache?

Does anyone know the nearest old cache, one placed in 2000? I am in Chester County and trying to accomplish a challenge cache and need a cache placed in 2000. I don't know of any around here. I started going thru cache pages starting with closest to home not found and got to 100 pages and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated. deb3day
  19. I think calling it "rude" is a bit harsh! If you are a person who logs quickly, it can be particularly annoying to not be able to log a TB that you picked up, especially if you'd like to drop it again. A week is generous. At that point, I'd grab it, drop it into the cache where I found it so it gets proper miles and move on with my life.
  20. I was logging yesterday's finds. I finally relented and answered the thing and it let me back in to continue logging.
  21. What is this all about? Is this for real or is this some kind of SPAM? I'm trying to log an event I did yesterday and when I click on the event I get a page I've never seen before which says: Why are you here? You've been redirected to this page because the site has noticed some unusual activity. You may start using the site after showing that you are human. Please follow the instructions below. (has one of those things where you type the skewed words and a submit button) If you are human we apologize for the brief intermission. If you are not human, 011100000110110001100101011000010111001101100101001000000111001101110100011011110111000000100000011000010110001001110101011100110110100101101110011001110010000001110100011010000110010100100000011001100110010101100001011101000111010101110010011001010111001100100000011011110110011000100000011101000110100001101001011100110010000001110011011010010111010001100101 Is this for real or some kind of scam? I'm not clicking on any page I don't recognize!!! I am getting this one two different events from yesterday. addendum: Now I'm getting it on everything I try to log. Is this because of too many people trying to log their 10 year anniversary days this weekend????
  22. Absolutely need to have Geosphere. It's great. I've been using it for about 6 months now and wouldn't do it any other way. When you're at home with your wireless, you can download whatever caches you want and then when you're out on the road without WIFI, you've got everything you need for paperless caching.
  23. so if i carry on logging my tb, when its fixed the map will change to show all my logs in correct order? cheers Con Seems to be fixed. The ones I had done last week are now showing in the right order. Sorry, I have to retract that statement. I just logged more today and again the map is backwards. What I have noticed is that when you first go to the trackable page, the logs are in the right order. But if you click on the link to bring up the map, then the logs are in backwards order and the map reflects that. It seems to be connected to going to the map page.
