I'm sorry, but am i the only one that see's this as putting a big "L" on Jeremy?

i was thinking the same thing but didnt want to say it.

    I said it....why not say it? :D

well when i used the sadam avatar jeremy took ofense to it and i got a 10% warn for it, so i figure if he took ofense to that i might get banned or warned again.

Well maybe because you keep posting the picture over and over with the quoting... :D

Ya maybe thats it. I better stop doing that, I wouldnt want to ofend anyone. :D

I am sure he isn't that sensitive. It would be a little silly to make a big deal out of that.

Oh, so now you're calling him "silly"?

Trying to bring it back on topic from Halden's OT post...

Sorry.....temporarlily forgot what the topic was! Oh, yeah, hand pics.....I don't have any to contribute, so I guess I'll just lurk here.......

I made an avatar with my jeep once and was going to use it, but never did, here it is...

To bad that is not a yellow jeep. Then you could log it for yellow jeep fever. :D

  2. I leave the original posters name. A good rule of thumb of good quoting is that in the quote there is less text than there is in your new post. It's frusrating to scroll down pages of quote just to see that the poster agrees with the previous one, or laughs his/her bodyparts off. I know, almost everyone posts those, and sometimes you just have to do it, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't avoid unnecessary all-quoting when you have the chance.

I also like when people quote only little parts of the original poster's text and comment under that. Then they quote the next thing, and comment under that. On longer posts it makes the message more readable.

I'm also in favor of editing messages. Sometimes those three to six and even more consecutive oneliner posts by the same poster look just like (s)he's padding his/her posting numbers. Again, all the things presented compactly within one post makes the reading more pleasant.

I'm not suggesting 'more unwritten rules' here in forums to annoy everyone. Proper quoting just makes reading all the messages more enjoyable.

    LMAO

  3. Hello all  :D ...we're new to Geocaching but have had our FIRST find...it was really exciting...although we were able to do this find without a GPS unit...we would still like to have one.  If anyone has a inexpensive used GPS unit, would love to hear from you through here or in email.  Thanks to all the fun we're havin'...LOL

Be careful what you buy. Read this story first!

lol thats some funny stuff.........buyer beware!!!

  7. Ok...... this may sound cold and heartless, but..  with that nice of a cache I would consider making it a "Members Only" cache.  While a lot of non-members do work on the honor system and knows what it means to trade up or trade even, I believe you'd have more success with the cache being "Members Only".

I take exception to this comment. Basically you are stating that "members" are more trustworthy than "non-members".

Certain "Members" are more trustworthy than others.

Well, I used to think that too, until a certain "member" let me down one night out in the cold.........

I think we are talking about Members of the webpage...not that type of member Sparky

    lol ;)

  8. “I can put a spare bulb in my hand

    and light up my yard”

This works with a fluorescent bulb held up under high power lines. Try it when its very dark …. kinda spooky.

same thing with a light bulb in a microwave, you put it in a cup of water up to the middle of the screw in part and turn the mic on and it will light up. ;)

  9. To be abundantly clear, the Off Limit (Physical) Caches section of the Geocaching Listing Requirements/Guidelines state that:

Caches will be quickly archived if we see the following (which is not inclusive):

    ...

Caches that are buried. If a shovel, trowel or other “pointy” object is used to dig, whether in order to hide or to find the cache, then it is not appropriate.

Thus, a buried container is contrary to the guidelines if a hole was dug by the hider, even if no digging is required on the part of the finder.

In addition to the desire to avoid damage to the environment, the prohibition of buried caches was added in response to land manager impressions that geocachers were burying treasure chests in parks. This was the primary reason cited for the ban on geocaching on property managed by the U.S. National Park Service. In dealing with land managers, this is a frequently asked question and I have found it very helpful to state that the site listing requirements forbid caches that are buried.

If you locate an existing hole, for example one created by a rotted-out stump, or if you can place the cache by just moving aside sand or other soft earth without the aid of a "pointy object", then that is fine.

i thought this was a listing service.Alot of rules for a listing service.

  10. I've got a geko101 as a christmas present. How accurate is it? Has anyone else tried one? It's pretty cute and teeny.

Thats what i use and it works great for me.I think its a great gpsr for the beginner and then maybe move up later on.I have not seen no reason to change models though. i guess if you dont like manualy putting in the coordinates it would not be for you, but for the price diffrence i dont mind.
