  1. I'm sure the details will be pretty ugly. I also never contacted them in any way about this order and just received the cancelation email. I was going to call and argue it, but just checked their site, and they have the Legend C listed as: So...no Legend C, no consolation prize. I'm not a happy camper.
  2. Since it appears taht they are trying to make good with the $20 certificate, that does add some points in their favor. But like I said, I still fell that this is poor business practice on their part. The OM error was $100 below what it was supposed to be...that's not exactly close, but they still honored the orders. What it comes down to in my mind is that if I should come across 2 items for a similar price that are offered by both of those stores, OfficeMax will get my business over Target.
  3. Now THAT is a beautiful thing...and exactly my point of OM doing the honorable thing be making good on their screw up. I guess that we'll see what happens from here. My chips are staying on the table until they confirm otherwise.
  4. That was more of my point. OM made a mistake, but DID honor that price. I understand that it is stated in Target's pricing policy that they reserve the right to canel an order if it was a pricing error, but IMHO that is a horible business practice. When I am looking to purchase something, I get prices from as many places as I posibly can and then jump at the best deal. By canceling my order because of an error on their part has simply lost any future business that they might have gotten from me. I don't think that it was the phone calls and emails that tipped them off to this. They are apparently more on the ball than OM is, and either: 1) Saw the sales for this one product suddenly skyrocket for no apparent reason. or 2) Their web admin actually has a clue and saw a ton of hits to that product coming from the link in this thread...all they'd have to do is read through this thread to see why it became so popular:D
  5. Sure, that's a simple typo. The only problem is that they had the entire decription of the Legend C in there. I know very well that that won't make a difference to them, but I also don't have to shop there and have no problem making that clear. This is walking a REAL close line of the "bait-and-switch" that Trader Horn and TOPS used to use a few years back.
  6. Let me know what you have left. Hopefully a Gerber or two :-)
  7. Well, I missed out on the OMax/Vista episode, but just placed my order for 2 of these. If it goes through, the wife is gonna be pissed for a bit, but after I sell off the second plus my eTrex yellow, I'll be about even... (BTW...that 10% discount still went through as valid even though it was supposed to expire on the 15th )
  8. You're killing me here.....can't you do this when my car insurance and mortgage are NOT overdue?
  9. You'd think they'd notice something silly like...oh...maybe sales increasing 3000% on a product in a week's time.
  10. Story of my friggin life....they are no longer on the website. Someone must have finally caught the error. I wonder how much that one cost them.
  11. I tried to get Best Buy to match it last night, but they were not budging on it. They wouldn't honor the online price cause it could be "computer fraud" Yeah, like I'm going to hack officemax.com to save $100.... On a good note, they did still have 2 of the yellow Etrex in stock, so I grabbed them both. The manager then had the nerve to ask me if I would leave one for him to get. I told him only if he would honor the price on the other one. So, today I will venture down to the Best Buy by my work which also has an Office max in the next strip mall (that does stock the Vista) and I'll try again. At least I have my Yellow for now, so I've finally got a GPSr! (About friggin time)
  12. Just my friggin luck. There were there yesterday. I had actually placed an order for one, but had to cancel it until my "play money" cleared the bank. Does anyone else have this dadgum black cloud following them?! -Midnight
  13. Anyone have any updates on these? Any problems with these units? It's time for me to pony up and get a GPSr already and these seem like the best deal around. -Midnight
  14. I understand the reasoning behind this, but I still don't really care for it. I participate in a Jeep website that is run by Quadratec and there are MANY times that posts contain links to their competitors. (And this is a retail site, so they stand to lose MUCH more by links to competition) For the most part the board members still purchase products from them out of simple courtesy. The times that people look elsewhere is when a product is only offered elsewhere or for a signifigantly better price. I guess what I am getting at is that so long as you offer services that people want/need, they will remain out of loyalty alone. If people start feeling "confined", then chances are pretty good that they will look elsewhere. What I have said is in no way directed at this particular board...I have not been here on GC.com long enough to really know for sure. I have however been watching this same crap go on long before there was any such thing as a Web Forum. Just my two cents on all of this....which is really only worth about half of that. -Midnight
  15. Great idea. I can just see it now. "Welcome to the Flame Wars forum. Fireproof underwear is optional." -Midnight
  16. ROFLMFAO!!! Does anyone else realize how friggin petty all of this is? I am a member at a few online forums and every few months there has to be some sort of uprising. I'd blame it on global PMS, but they all do it at different times. -Midnight
  17. quote:Originally posted by Right Wing Wacko:You do of course realize that taking any rental car off the paved road is usually a violation of the rental agreement. Not only can and will they hold you liable for any damage they claim is caused by doing so, the super expensive insurance they sell you to cover such things also will not pay because you were violating the rental agreement There is nothing quite like a $5K repair bill showing up on the Credit Card when you were not expecting it Oh....if Enterprise only knew where their little Grand Am went when I was visiting in Oregon. -Midnight
  18. I may be way off on this, but here goes anyway.... If it is the pirates that are going out of their way to plunder the caches, they took the time and effort to come in here and gather all of the info, then went out to find the cache to plunder. Since they are so determined to go through with this, what makes anyone think that paying a few buck for a membership will stop them? If anything, I would think that the MOC would just give them better targets. Like I said, just my thoughts and I could be way off. -Midnight
  19. That wouild be great to find, but here in NJ I have better odds playing the lottery. -Midnight

There are a few that use the Jeep name with permission, but have become the equivilant of Supermarket Rag Sheets. That's New Jersey under all those boxes. _"You can't make a man by standing a sheep on his hind legs. But by standing a flock of sheep in that position, you can make a crowd of men" - Max Beerbohm_ But Brian, we have the same "People Density" problem in NJ too. SO I guess it's all relative. -Midnight

  23. quote:Originally posted by Eswau:I wonder if it would be pointed out in the article in the JEEP magazine that the family going Geocaching in their JEEP is actually riding in a rental JEEP and perhaps have never been in a JEEP before. Kind of takes away from the purpose of the JEEP magazine doesn't it? LOL...Have you ever looked in a "Jeep" magazine? If you were looking for reality, that would be the wrong place to do it. -Midnight
  24. Well sonce my last trade attempt was so successfully crushed by the "Garage Sale Police" ( I honestly did'nt even realize how bad the price had dropped on those cameras...) I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop up for trade for a GPSr. The Laptop is: Pentium II 266. 96 MB RAM. 4 GB Hard drive. Serial(RS232), Parallel, and USB ports. Windows 2000 Professional. Office 2000 Professional. Please let me know via email if you are interested. If I don't get any response from here in a week or so, it'll just wind up on Ebay. -Chris -Midnight
  25. quote:Originally posted by Bloencustoms:Sorry to hear that, it's probably due to the cache plundering going on in the northeast. [This message was edited by Bloencustoms on March 32, 1999 at 25:60 PM] Yes, I did some digging and the original cache that I was referring to is on the most recent plundered list. I REALLY hope that my stun gun accidentally runs into this jackass. -Midnight
