  1. This bug applies to the contact page here: http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=request At the top where it says "Research and report bugs in our forums", it links to http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=46, which is the wrong place. It should link to http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=129 .
  2. The default invitation email is as follows: It says "There are over one million geocaches" at the bottom. It should say "There are over two million geocaches". Edit: To see the bug, log in and visit this page, then click the "Restore default email" button.
  3. The Geocaching sizes should be updated because they are outdated. No one hides 5 gallon buckets (large) anymore, mostly just micro. Maybe update them to something like this:
  4. When you get a premium membership, your forum status and website status both change to premium. But when it expires, only the website status changes back to basic, and your forum status still says premium.
  5. When marking a cache as "Needs Maintenance", a "Needs Maintenance" attribute comes on. But it does not go off with an "Owner Maintenance" log. And cache owners often forget to disable the attribute, making people think a good cache still needs Maintenance.
  6. How did you know that? (about the strain)
  7. Their is a link on the beta maps to return to the old one's.
  8. Good idea, but I don't have time for that.
  9. Quite similar as the difference between Spongebob squarepants, and Spongebob Squaresocks. Who is "Spongebob Squaresocks"?
  10. I concern myself with numbers little enough that this isn't really relevant to me — but the discussion over in the Geocaching vs. Waymarking thread indicates there are a lot of people who'd me more interested in Waymarking if they got smileys for it. If Groundspeak wanted to promote benchmarking they could recognize them as the one form of virtual cache currently permitted and give smiley credits for benchmarks. I'm guessing that would make a big uptick in the benchmarking numbers. On the other hand, if Groundspeak wanted to promote benchmarking, they wouldn't relegate it to the smallest, most un-findable corner of their user interface, would they? Good idea, you should post it on the feedback site, all my bug reports used up my votes.
  11. What about the reason that benchmarks only exist in a small part of the world? You would need to count only cache logs in countries where benchmarks exist. Some of the countries with the most active geocaching scenes do not have benchmarks. Cezanne What areas of the world are they active in?
  12. Whahahaha...I read the thread title as "beanmarking". Lol
  13. 1. I translated it from 7 days to 30. 2. Yaa, I posted a suggestion for them to move the link: http://feedback.geocaching.com/forums/75775-geocaching-com/suggestions/1972897-make-the-benchmarking-area-of-the-site-more-visibl
  14. In the past 30 days, their have been 1928.630844314299365544168 times as many geocaching logs as benchmark logs. What is wrong with bench marking?
  15. I did a careful analytical study using a combination of techniques and a fairly sophisticated software application made available to me by a friend who works at MIT. Data mining was the hard part - since screen scraping is against the Groundspeak TOU, I first had to read every post in every topic in the main forum. I limited the study to topics started in 2007 or later. For each topic, I assigned a numerical value corresponding to one of the six-thousand unique topic themes called out in the 2009 Marston Report (as you might have guessed, the assignments to the Marston themes were made using word-group density modeling). I also recorded additional information on topic titles and genre, number of total characters in the opening post, time of day the topic was started, and of course, number of responses as of the time I processed the topic. I fed all the information into the data analysis system, and applied various processing techniques (data "smoothing", Sine-on-Random, predictive modeling, etc.) so I was able to discard data that was determined to be statistically irrelevant or otherwise tangential to the study. That was it! The software application then generated the pie chart I posted here based on the results of the analysis. I'm kidding, of course. I just Googled "pie chart generator", picked one of the web sites that showed up in the results, entered some text and numbers that I made up, and posted the image here. Oh, I was about to ask how long it took, but I saw it said you were kidding.
  16. We love you, Pinehurst. Really. Thanks Just make sure you don't get too obsessed that you will start hiding ammo cans on the doorstep of burger king or mcdonalds. Why not? You shouldn't be. Statistically speaking, your topic stood a good chance of seeing an above-average number of responses. How did you make that chart?
  17. Wow, I'm suprized my thread got so many replys.
  18. Wow, this thread got lots of replys. What about him?
  19. Why does everyone do micros now? Is it because new gps's are better and their trying to make it harder?
  20. Why? I just forgot I ever posted it. Forgot? Uh Oh, Plankton may be controlling your brain again. Oh no, what should I do? Put a Krabby Patty on the table and describe it to him He can't resist them and will leave your brain to get it. It diden't work. Neither did your link to where you reported the bug. It must have gotten deleated.
