    i wish..

i wish there were a way to visit a cache page by GC#, DIRECTLY from the 'my account' page.
  4. hi newbies! welcome to my lastest addiction---geocaching! hikerRon- colorado springs, colorado
  5. a CITO in the Springs is a good idea, i think. i would definitley participate if i were in town. i'll be in phoenix at that time.
  6. i'm planning on being there, and i dont even like pizza.....
  7. wow! with the weather today being as nice as it was, i'm already thinking about camping!
  8. HikerRon will attend. i'll be dragging my pop-up into site #45 friday. hopefully, will have it leveled by sunday. gonna be fun!
  9. if you wanna go backcountry in march/april....you will need cross-country skis, snowshoes and an avalanche beacon. if you should happen to make down to the colorado springs area, check out Mueller State Park. nice camping, isolated over the backside of pikes peak, and several caches up and down the highway over there.
  10. in my case, my etrex venture went mad! it would lock on a 'goto' and stay there indefinetly....even as i walked right on past the cache! screen would just freeze. i'd turn it off and back on, and it would say , basically ' you dummy , you walked right past it!" so after fighting it for 2 days and conversations with Garmin, their advice was to go exchange it for a new one....which i did, and have found 300+ caches with it in the last year. i must have just gotten a 'bad one' the first time.
  11. i like most all caches, and i try to do a few of all kinds. you must remember that not all cachers are able to do long hikes, or climbs. drive-bys have their place. things i like to see- some sort of challenge......like a cache that's well hidden. or a puzzle, or cipher. somethng that makes you work for it! i also like a cache to be hidden in a place where i can spend a few minutes lookng thru the log without muggles walking by and seeing me. i enjoy those caches that are well thought-out. you can tell when someone has put some time or effort in placing the cache. the hide, the view, the container. if the cache is for kids, dont put it dangerous places. be sure the co-ords are accurate. answer all correspondence in a timely fashion.
  12. yes- i found out the hard way. i was unaware of their policies, and placed 2 micro-caches in a CS city park. didnt take 'em long to email me, and tell me that i had 2 weeks to get 'em out of there. which i did.
