  1. I had the same problem with the "maps not unlocked" thing. I called Garmin, connected my GPSr to the computer. They emailed me a .gma file that I had to then download to the GPSr's "garmin" folder. Everything worked fine after that.
  2. I'm travelling to London and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the London tube stations in a format that I can easily download to my Garmin 60Cx. Thanks G-Team
  3. That solves it!! Wow, I had no idea this feature existed. Thanks for the info. G-Team
  4. I'm getting the same problem. I open up my .gpx file in google earth and only about 5 geocaches show up on the screen instead of the 100 that I have in the .gpx file. I can see the entire list of geocaches are checked on the left side under "Places" and when I double click on one of them it takes me to the place on the map where the cache is at, but there's no icon and no description on the map side. Very strange.....
  5. Thanks for the tip. I just did the same thing for my 60Cx and now I can see the major roads in the United Kingdom (where I'm travelling to next week). The name of the file I copied via the USB Mass Storage option was called "TRIPWPT2.img" from the Garmin folder on my C: drive. Then I went into explorer, pulled up the virtual drive E: (which represented the GPSr) and changed the name of the already there gmapsupp.img to gmapsupp1.img and renamed the tripwpt2.img to gmapsupp.img and then rebooted the GPSr. Excellent. Thanks again for the tip.
  6. I live right next to one of the big power lines. Our daughter was born with a third arm. The Dr says its because we live near the power line. I don't think its that. I think its either the nuclear fuel dump ground next door or the toxic waste treatment center on the other side of the street.
  7. I just got CN 8 in the mail. Loaded it onto my gps, tried the find address and................IT WORKS. I can type in an "H" and get all the cities that start with "H". Now I'm happy.
  8. Well, I'll be. I tried your suggestion. Typed in all the letter to the city name instead of just the first letter. And sure enough, after I had typed in the last letter, all the city choices came up on the screen. Whoooop! I've ordered CN v8 so I expect this issue to go away for me.
  9. I have GPSMap 60Cx with N.A. Metroguide V 5.0. I also have the latest FW/SW loaded and I have the same problem. I hit the "Find' button, then go to "Addresses". It brings up the screen <Enter Number> <Enter Street Name> <Enter City> I skip down to <Enter City>, hit the Enter key so it will bring up the selection menu. I hit the letter "A", then move to "OK", hit enter and it tells me "None Found". If I hit the "Quit" button, then it will give me the choices of cities starting with cities beginning with A. So I have to scroll down to get the city I want. I'm thinking its a Metroguide issue rather than a GPS issue.
  10. "What are the best items to leave?" 1. $100 bill 2. Gold Watch 3. Diamond bracelet All of these will easily fit in a small cache container and I will very much enjoy finding them. G-Team
  11. Its been a while since I've updated my GPSMap 60Cx. I had firmware version 2.60 and software version 2.40. I had to run the Webupdater twice. The first time it just updated the firmware to 2.90. I noticed my software still was listed at the 2.40 version so I ran Webupdater a second time and thats when it told me that "you've already got the latest version loaded", but it gave me a radio button to "check for futher updates......". I checked the radio button and hit Next and it loaded software version 2.60. I noticed there was another choice to download the 2.90 firmware on the downloads page, but there wasn't an option I saw to download the software to 2.60. So it looked like the only way to update the software version was via the Webupdater.
  12. I've only seen one snake in 2 years of geocaching, but I'm always on the lookout for them. Walking along cypress creek in Houston, I came across an 18" coral snake and watched it for about 30 minutes. That was pretty neat.
  13. ok. ......I am no longer a lurker since I am now posting my first post. I started geocaching in August and read the forums probably 4-5 times a week. 2 reasons I don't post. 1) Any question that I have had-- has already been answered - I just need to do a little searching and there it is. 2) I have a tendency to write with a tone that some people may take the wrong way. I have been told that I have a British sense of humor , but I take that as a compliment. To avoid the negative replies, I just choose not to post. Now I am done and need to use up all these smilies while I have this chance..... G-Team
  14. This one utilizes compass/geometry/navigation skills. They get increasingly harder with each number, ie. "II, III, IV, V" Lost Treasure II
