You have one of the more interesting category proposals. I have no choice but to show my support. Nice job!

Yep..
Again... why not just add all the states.
I was just about to suggest that.

LoL hope you are kidding. The rest of the world is more than happy to navigate using street names and maps.. the new car gps units that actually come in the car are usually connected to onstar and such and that gets the person locations and the person can then listen to "turn left in .5 miles" voices telling them where to go... those are the gps units that will get to the average joe, not sure why the average joe would wanna come here when it is all downloaded directly to their car while they are driving.
No, actually I'm totally serious. I use this website and download lots of coordinates to my GPS' database card just so that when I'm on a road trip, I can stop along the way and say, "hey", there's a waymark, or let's go here...
Okay, so maybe I'm a "power user"!
I see your point now. Thanks.

Do you honestly think GPS locations is going to be the only feature that brings in a wider audience ?
Yes, it's the way of the future!

Thanks rescue557,
Title should be...
Urban/suburban Recreation Trails, A place to take a walk, a ride, skate(sp), or a break.
I've looked all over the internet for a good listing of urban paths and they just don't exist. There are some great sites for hiking trails and rail trails but not much for the green space urban trails. A few are listed on city websites if you know what you are looking for.
I hope that this is can be approval and I would like to volunteer to manage it.
A similar category exists, and it its off-road trails, but recreation trails are not designed for off-road vehicles. Therefore, I think you have an excellant idea, and let's hope it gets approved.

We need a category for historic buildings!
- Empire State Building
- Eifel Tower
- St. Basil's Cathedral (Russia)
The list goes on...!

A&W is a little more unique, but why not just have a drive-in restaurants category or rootbeer category. I mean is it too much to ask that people be more creative with their categories than just A&W?
Not sure if I agree with this statement, here's why. If you are going to add this category to the database, you should make Drive-In's a category, and make A&W a subcategory. And I see your point about bandwidth, and servers, and database expenses. But come on. There are so many McDonald's waymarks out there, would a few A&W locations really make that big of a difference?

A nice place to put gas stations so I can know were all the Quik Trips are on my trips.
Gas stations are way too common. That's just my two cents.
-
Ferries are neat! I like the idea.

I really think rescue557 makes a valid point. I personnally like the Mcdonalds Category, and would love to see A& W's. I envision this Waymarking site to eventually accomodate not only those of us who came from GEocaching but to a new breed of GPS owners who use those fancy car models and these categories would fit nicely and be a draw for an entire group of people. IF you do not like them do not hunt them. But they should be created for those of us who like them.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks!

Does the station have one of those poles where the personel slide down when responding to a fire?
Silly I know but you have all of the good ideas that came to mind already listed in your variables .
This is one that I haven't thought about. Unfortunately, since the institution of OSHA, fire poles have been banned from new construction per the NFPA. So, finding an old firehouse with a fire pole is a rarity. Thanks!

Where will it stop???
I know what you're saying. But A&W locations are a dying breed, the end of a fast food / drive-in era that has long been forgotten and replaced with places like Sonic, McDonald's, and Burger King.

Can't wait to see how this one plays out in the forums...

Why not have a category for A&W locations. They're known for their All-American food, and they're quite hard to find. I think it would be as American as McDonald's or apple pie.
What do you think? Please post your ideas.

We only have a few random A&Ws that are still drive-in scattered around randomly but they are a drive, would not be surprised if there were some old mom and pop type places around too. Would be interesting to see where they all are.
I'd like to see an A&W category by itself! I think that this would be a lot more interesting than the McDonald's category we already have.

That's great! I vote yes!

I want to make my category (Firehouses) the best it can be. I need some extra variables that might apply to firehouses. If anybody has any suggestions, I'd love to read about them in the forum, so please post a reply.

Good one! I like it, and vote yes! Perhaps we are going towards the trailhead here, right?

I agree. Who cares where the money goes. If we get more and more stuff to play with and explore, and the price stays fixed at $30 per year, it's still a good deal.
If they:
(1) keep improving this site
(2) keep all that stuff over there
(3) keep membership dues at only $30 in spite of inflation
They will also keep receiving my membership payments
I think we get darn good value for our money, and many people do just fine playing for free.
All long as Jeremy keeps giving me more right here for the same money, I don't care if he funds 100 other crappy websites.

Actually, Cabela's list the GPS Coordinates to there stores on the website under the 'normal' address.
And God bless them for it, too!

Anyone else interested in this type of category?
Count me in! The days of my childhood when one would have to go to an arcade to play the classic video games, that by today's standards are lame. I'd love to visit places like this!
A superb idea, indeed!

I'd like to suggest historic markers for my home state of New York!
