  1. I started on Sept 15, 2003, and hit 1k on Sept 15, 2005. I've been slacking since then. michelle
  2. ,,,, do some people still think it's a good idea to use a knife to dig with??? Remind me to never let you borrow my knife. In a pinch... any tool you have on hand will work providing you can break the ground with it, and a knife is a good starter. If ya gotta go, ya gotta go... michelle
  3. It's so very... mac ... like. Cover flow only with cache pictures. Super fun and a great way to look at all the photos in one fell swoop! michelle
  4. Why, oh why, do you keep doing this? michelle
  5. Fat lot of good you are doing as an approver then, eh? michelle
  6. Have you shacked up in the Hubba Hubba since losing weight? I'm interested to hear how you feel about it's roominess now! michelle
  7. Not true. I had a container that I made with the GC number on it. You get the number as soon as you get the cache page to edit, you don't have to wait for approval.Doesn't your thesaurus say 'submitted' under the entry for 'approved'? You say tomato... michelle I heard that in Geocaching.com Version 2 we'll be issued a GC number as soon as we think of an idea for a cache, we don't even have to wait until we get online. We'll know after Tuesday when Version 2 is released!!!! (I don't even like tomatoes) Well, howabout to-mah-toes then? No? Tomatillos? Hmph. I'm thinking of a GC number and it starts with a GC. Can you guess what it is? michelle
  8. List of fatal bear attacks in North America by decade. Note the number of deaths by Black Bears. What that list doesn't tell you is how many of the victims smeared jelly donut essence on their bodies before the attack. And maybe some whipped cream. m

  10. Took a look at these. Interesting. Just wondering if you plan on wearing this for around town or hiking? I'm trying to see the advantage of these over pants/shorts? A guy in a kilt? Um. Hm. Advantages? Yes. But oh. You're probably talking about the advantages for the guy, right?
  11. Nobody 'round here was curmudgeonly enough for the task. We wondered what was taking you so long, but glad to see you took care of it. Good job. It's (not) a niche job... but someone has to do it. michelle
  12. I saw a quick note in one of those logs (or another one somewhere) where he mentioned his little 323... I had to laugh because, well, I saw the car at an event once... his 323 was white, painted with cow spots... and bullet holes (the real kind) all over it. Another fun one from Slinger91. The photos are what you need to look at here. michelle
  13. I was hoping someone would answer, "Throw a fit." <sheesh> michelle
  14. December, nay, Christmas, 2003: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Oh wait, and this is how it ended. Well, you know how the trip to CA turned out, anyway. michelle
  15. Y'r right, if TL were any other man, he might be offended! michelle
  16. First ones are always the best. Well, the most memorable, maybe. Best?! I'm having a hard time keeping this topic clean... pressing... flesh... that whole 'logging other cachers' thing... Maybe it's time for me to bow out. michelle
  17. There ya go, getting all logical on everyone again, TL. The typical bookmark size concern still exists - if you have more notes or more 'mystery caches' or more 'caches I'll get to when I drive 200 miles away', you may run out of 'room' in any one list. michelle
  18. That's what the group photos are for. But the ones I really remember are the ones I get to hug. Maybe I should rethink coming out for a future HOTM! Or then again maybe not if I don't have to hug you. If a handshake is all you want, a handshake is all you get. Just never complain about not getting a hug. I can point you to someone who did. August 15, 2004... after many delays and failed attempts at 1st ever HOTM , (see August 7, 2004 log for A Salute to Colonel Bob) met TotemLake at Mt. Townsend trailhead and finally got my hug. Some are easier to remember than others. michelle
  19. I am not fond of puzzles, either. Sometimes I really would just love to have a set of coordinates to plug in and go find a box w/o having it be a micro, or to figure out a puzzle before I leave the house. I mean, really... if I'm gonna sit at home on my butt, I've got so many better things I could be doing other than solving puzzles. So, seriously, design your pocket queries so that you're not downloading unknown caches. I run one that doesn't include any puzzles or micro's which mostly makes me a pretty happy cacher. The only part that needs some fixing is that from my account page, when I want to look at what's nearest and dearest, everything is puzzles from here to eternity. Ugh. I skip that for the most part, and go directly to the PQ page and look at what the latest PQ pulled up for me and go from there. michelle
  20. A friend in MN did this once upon a time - it was pretty fun to look at the 'degrees of separation' charts - all those username bubbles with lines going everywhere. I believe they only did it with 'random' meetings/who they ran into while out caching, and events didn't count. I can't even imagine trying to keep track of everyone I've met... but I do know what my degree of separation is from... oh, lessee... TotemLake (might as well pick on him since he posted) and Jeremy (chosen because, well, why not?). Neat idea... but after playing for awhile, it'd be tough to 'remember' everyone for a lot of people around here. michelle
  21. I've done the same with GSAK - just filter a certain cache hider out. It's the easiest way... You CAN add their hides to your ignore list but you've always got to be on the look-out for new placements that way. GSAK is a little more automagic. michelle
  22. A couple of people have mentioned AA batteries, and I agree, I'd add that to my list. Many cameras now use proprietary batteries (like most cell phones), which is a PITA in my book. If a camera uses AAs, you can usually use AA rechargeables if you want rechargeable. (They put out a little less voltage than alkalines, so some devices choke on them, but most cameras are OK.) Ability to use generic batteries is a must for me. Edward I'm not sure that I completely agree. With my 20d, I have the choice between the proprietary battery and the AA 'battery grip'. With the propritary battery, I can take hundreds of pictures. I probably get three or four times as many pics from the proprietary battery than I can out of AAs. I keep a spare battery charged in my bag, just in case, but it's extremely rare that I would need it. Basically, if I check to make sure that I have a full charge first thing in the morning, I know that I can shoot all day. I guess it really depends on the battery. On standard alkalines, I'll get around 400 pictures. On Lithiums, I'll get around 650-700. These are 10-12MP pictures and I'm usually fiddling around with the settings to get just the right picture. Either way, I get more pics from teh Canon battery than I do from the grip o' AAs. The nice thing about the AA's is that when I'm out on a trail, I don't have to worry about having to figure out where I'm going to charge my proprietary battery... ... I also use the Canon PowerShot A650IS and it was purchased almost solely because of the battery type (yah, there were OTHER factors... but being able to replace the batteries as easily as these can be replaced was a big'n.) I have had a number of other cameras with proprietary batteries and this is the best fit (the ability to use AA's) for me. michelle
  23. I think someone should contact Leatherman and explore the possibility that he just might have copied the CoE design... michelle
  24. Sounds like a pretty good plan... but what do you intend to do? Delete the log, or ask them to change it? Give them a couple of days to change it, then delete it if they don't? No signature = no find. michelle
